Imprisoned, starved and left with no memories, Thalia awakens to find herself at the mercy of an evil cult known as the Septori. Their leader has chosen Thalia as the test subject for a torture device of untold power, designed to change and twist her into something that is neither human nor Denai.
Escaping, Thalia finds an unwilling warrior to protect her and an unlikely Denai to befriend her. … befriend her. After finding a home at the Citadel as a servant, Thalia’s worst nightmare comes to life and she begins to show signs of power. Scared and unable to control her gifts, she tries to hide her past to fit in among the Denai. But the Septori want their latest test subject back and will stop at nothing to retrieve her, dead or alive.

Has been a favorite for years! I fell completely in love with this series. It almost feels wrong to write a review because I know I can’t adequately express how much I enjoyed reading it. Chanda Hahn is a story-telling genius!
This story lays out a large mystery that you’re dying to unravel! While not all of it is though, you know that Chanda will find a way to perfectly lay it all out by the series end! Thalia is a strong-willed character who has flashbacks of her past but is unsure of the world around her. Then you have mysterious Kael who is somehow tied to Thalia. …
We journey with Thalia as she escapes The Raven’s prison with no memory of where she comes from, let alone who she is beyond her name. She finds sanctuary in the Citadel where she tries to make a life for herself. Only problem is that she’s still being hunted.
This book hits the ground running from the very beginning. It’s a little frustrating …
I wasn’t sure if I would like this book or not by the description but I ended up really enjoyed reading it. Thalia is a strong and wonderful heroine whom I enjoyed reading about and seeing how she gets through everything she has been through (which was a lot). I also really liked Kael he was my favorite character in this book.
This is one of my all-time favorites series ever. I read a lot of books. YA is a good lane for me because I’m not interested in the sexy scenes that some adult books have. This book grabbed my attention and didn’t let go. Thalia is a fabulous main characters and the supporting characters are just as amazing. This world is so intriguing, I can’t …
The ending of this book had me on the edge of my sit. This is a great start to the series. The characters are so well developed that I can feel their emotions as I was reading. Can’t wait to see what answers Thalia discovers in the next book.
This new world is a gem of imagination. Chanda keeps outdoing herself with each series she puts out. I wonder where she gets her inspiration from? Such strong female leads!
Wow, this book just keeps moving and takes you right with it. I loved this book. Thalia has great character development. You are learning all about the Denai and other cultures through her eyes. She is a strong female lead that gets stronger and more capable throughout the book. Then insert Joss and Kael and it’s the perfect love triangle. …
This was another great book by Chanda Hahn. I like how she writes a girl, Thaila, as the main character. She is relatable, in that she struggles and has bad days but doesn’t give up. She is brave to escape with the help from her warrior friend. It woukd be really scary to wake to and have experiments done on you. The book didn’t capture me as fast …
This book is amazing! Loved it. Kept me guessing and it was very intriguing. Amazing read. Can’t wait for book #2!
Could we get this book on audible please?
Honestly, I was a bit skeptical at first (I had read other books by Chanda and LOVED), but still, didn’t make reading this GEM a top priority on my to read list, and then I read all three books and kicked myself for not reading it sooner! What else did I expect from the amazing chanda hahn?!
Take a deep breath and dive into Thalia’s world now. …
I feel like I have a different perspective than some who have reviewed since I didn’t find this series till it was already completely out so knowing this I knew that I was going into it as a series not a stand alone book. I loved how Chanda really made you stop and contemplate this torture Talia and the others are going through. The …
This book had me a bit scared. I thought this girl was going to die. I didn’t know what way it was going. It took a few chapters to get going but once I did I read like I needed it to live. I like the school she finds to help her. I keep thinking don’t stop someone is going to find you. I was very pleased with how this book turned out. I look …
