The Irish Getaway by Siobhan Davis is book 3.5 of the Kennedy Boys series and it ideally should be read after the first three books of the series; Finding Kyler, Losing Kyler and Keeping Kyler.
“I love him as deeply as he loves me, and I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that he’s my forever.” – Faye
Yet again, Siobhan has created another addictive story that had me experiencing so many emotions as I read about Faye, Kyler and their families growing closer and showing their love for each other. The Irish Getaway was brilliant and I loved it from start to finish. Plenty of ‘Kennedy drama’ and laugh out loud moments. Throw into the mix moments that have you smiling, wanting to turn on the fan to cool down or trying to hold back the tears, and you have the perfect combination for a story that will remain with you for days after. There wasn’t one thing that I didn’t love about this book and I’m so glad that Siobhan has written it. Thank you, Siobhan!
“I was just thinking how gorgeous you are, inside and out, without even trying. And how lucky I am to have you in my life.” – Kyler
I feel the trip to Ireland allowed Faye to continue healing after the death of her parents. Having Kyler there helped her immensely as he gives her the love, strength and understanding she needs. You can see that Faye and Kyler have grown as a couple and that their relationship is going from strength to strength. I think it was important for the couple to take this journey and having their families join them made it even more special. Faye gets to spend time with the new people in her life and this is a great gift for her after everything she’s gone through.
“As long as you are in my life, I’ll always be happy, and I’ll always know where home is, because it’s wherever you are.” – Faye
The descriptions of Ireland that Siobhan uses are so visual and it felt like I was there. Despite living the UK, I’ve not yet visited Ireland but I want to even more now and when I do finally visit, I’ll hopefully get to see some of the amazing places Siobhan describes. I loved seeing Faye back on her ‘home turf’ and with her two best friends who she’s clearly still very close to even though she now has a life in the US. All of Kyler’s brothers join him in Ireland and Siobhan shows perfectly what each of their roles are within the family. All the brothers are special and the women they’ll eventually fall in love with are very lucky.
“On countless occasions, I’ve wondered if I told my parents enough that I loved them. If they died knowing how much they meant to me. From now on, I’m not going to shy away from telling the people I love how I feel about them.” – Faye
Next in the Kennedy Boys series is Loving Kalvin, book 4, which is out now and then it’s Saving Brad, book 5. You can find teasers for both at the end of The Irish Getaway along with a couple of extra treats.

We return to Ireland where everything began but this time on a more positive note. No lack in drama with the Kennedy boys, no matter what country their in with Siobhan Davis’s novella The Irish Getaway that bridges Kyler and Faye’s story and the beginnings of Kalvin’s.
“I never knew it could be like this. That I could feel so much love in my heart for a boy. That I could feel so complete.”
I enjoyed this little short story as we adventured back to Ireland, as Faye showed Ky her home country. For a couple of weeks Faye and Ky had their alone time but of course the whole Kennedy gang arrived, leaving chaos in their wake. No pubs, clubs or girls for that matter will stand a chance. New romances will arise that hopefully we will see in the future and maybe just maybe, Alex and James will reconnect (crossing fingers).
Even though this novella is about their relationship, we see the inner workings of all Kennedy boys in what ‘could be’ for future stories. The Irish Getaway packs a punch with drama, emotions and 100% content.
There’s no lack in detail that Siobhan delivers even within this small addition to the series and if you love the Kennedy Dynasty, all the drama it entails, then you need to add it to your reader. *Note: you need to be caught up in the previous three books, before reading this novella.
I love this series, there is so much drama and intense emotions that follow. You have to have read the first three books in the series for any of this one to make sense but why wouldn’t you want to read them, they are awesome! I totally can not wait for Brad’s book!
I really love the Kennedy boys series and this novella was no exception. It was great to go back to the original couple and see them interacting and in Ireland no less! And to make it even more great, eventually the rest of the Kennedys join in and we even get to see Adam and Whitney again.
The family dynamic is so interesting to me. This many boys in one family, and how different their personalities are even though they were all raised in the same household. I like how we got little hints and teasers as to what each of the brothers own stories might be about. This novella made me more anxious for some of the boys’ books that I wasn’t really thinking about before.
The other thing I really enjoyed, was the alternate POV scenes at the end of the book. We get a peek into what other characters were thinking and doing during pivotal scenes in the first few books. I love when authors give us that taste into the mind of someone else!
If you have enjoyed the Kennedy Boys books so far, you’re going to love this novella. If you haven’t read any of the other books yet, I highly recommend them and suggest you read at least the first three books before reading this novella.
