A Note From Jules:
Be forewarned you might not want to start this book late at night—several readers have reported “gobbling it up” and going on to the next book immediately. This book is literary women’s fiction, it is not a traditional romance, per se.
“If you enjoy Nora Roberts, you’ll like Juliet Gauvin. The Irish Cottage is a fresh take on women’s literary fiction, sometimes light and scrumptious and other times quite profound in its observations on life, love and loss.” -Amazon Review
“A book that conveys the true feelings of Ireland when you visit…it’s a bit of a romance, history, travel, and mystery neatly tied into a book well worth reading.” -Amazon Review
“I started this book and couldn’t put it down. It brought me to Ireland and I never wanted to leave.” -Amazon Review

Didn’t need all the details of their sex life. Much better when some things are left to our imagination. While I stayed with it due to the original story line, I skipped pages at a time.
Nice, easy to read – a good beach book. Problem is you really have to read all the novels i the series – I think the next one is The London Flat. Which isn’t bad just annoying.
I loved the story of Beth and Conner, and look forward to reading her next one. Real feelings, emotions, struggles, are there in every page.!
The lead character leaves her busy law practice when someone close to her passes away. Her journey to Ireland coincides with her return to herself, helped along by a romantic Irishman. He has eyes only for her, but….a good easy read.
I didn’t find the characters believable. The scenery was the best part of the book. I was getting bored and decided to read one last chapter to see if it got better. I guess the author knew the book was getting boring as she added an unnecessary graphic love scene. I didn’t waste my time completing the book.
Just very easy read, I just wanted to keep reading
I can’t believe that the writer actually thinks that alcohol is the solution to the problem of a stunted emotional development.
Read it because it was set in Ireland. The author got some of the “Irish-ness” right, some not so much. She went a little over the top with the steamy sex scenes, but those are easy to speed past if you want. The entire premise was less than completely believable, but sometimes romantic fantasy works,if you’re in the mood! The ending was not satisfying: obviously written to encourage purchase of the sequel, which I won’t be doing.
Overall, a mildly interesting summer read, but I don’t feel the need to follow up with the sequels. The characters just didn’t hold my interest enough.
Loved it!
Thoroughly enjoyed this.
Story line really good I don’t like descriptive sex so I just skip over that .
Enjoyed
The book did a great job of revealing the characters slowly but the end leaves you in the middle of the story. So if you want to see what really happens with the protagonists, you will have to read the second book in the series.
Great descriptions of the beauty and customs of Ireland, as well as its healing powers.
The 3 books in this series was very good. Hard to put down!
Did not finish reading this book. Seemed like a silly romance novel.
A smart romance for those who don’t want the overdone, stereotype-ridden narratives. It was fun!
I couldn’t put it down! I normally read murder mysteries & picked this up for a change & WOW! was I enchanted! This is a well thought out 3-book series. Be prepared…it is steamy!
Remember to read the other 2 books in the series: “The London Flat” and “The Paris Apartment”!
I enjoyed it
If you like romance novels, this is okay. It’s a quick read, not deep. I started and finished it on a cross Atlantic flight and got bored with it by the end so started speed reading.
