Wish Fulfilment – The Interpretation of Dreams – Freud Museum London

Freud argues that a dream is the fulfilment of a wish.

This starting point has been criticised as reductionist, but it is besides the part of his hypothesis that is close to common-sense and popular ideas about dreams .
We all recognise that in our dream we frequently make the global a better plaza for ourselves where our wishes are fulfilled .
This is even a separate of our casual language : we use sayings like “ I wouldn ’ deoxythymidine monophosphate dream of it ! ” and “ not in my wildest dream ! ”

here is Freud ’ s account of a pipe dream his daughter Anna had when she was very small :
My little girl, who was nineteen months old at the time, had been sick one morning so had been kept without food all day.  During the take after night, she was hear calling out excitedly in her sleep :
“ Anna Freud, stwawbewwies, wild stwawbewwies, omblet, pudden ! ”
At that clock time she was in the habit of using her name to express the mind of taking possession of something. The menu must have seemed to her to make up a desirable meal .
Anna ’ s dream of strawberries shows the desirous character of dreams. She goes to bed athirst and dreams of food .
