A sweet-as-pie teacher. A hometown hero. And the local B&B, complete with innkeeper’s quarters…
Fresh on the heels of a broken engagement and a dead-end subbing gig, would-be English teacher Greta Houston goes home for the summer. She needs to recharge, and the farm town is just the place. Friday night fish frys and dusty back roads bring her down to earth, but Hickory Grove is only a pit … to earth, but Hickory Grove is only a pit stop on Greta’s way back to the big city. Then she gets an interview… with the last place she’d ever thought to apply.
Football coach Luke Hart has too much on his plate. After moving to Hickory Grove to be closer to his ailing grandmother, he spends his days teaching, coaching, and volunteering at church. Life is good, until Mamaw Hart passes away, leaving him with a daunting heirloom: The Hickory Grove Inn. Luke needs help to run the place, or else he’ll have to sell the one thing that connects him to his past.
Take a trip to the heart of America and fall in love with Hickory Grove’s quirky residents who work hard, enjoy the simple life, and always put love first. Each title is a standalone read.

This is a sweet romance in a small town setting. It’s part of a series, but this the only one ie read. Characters are likable and we’ll developed. Story flows well and moves quickly for an easy read. I felt like the two main characters acted younger than their described ages. But overall enjoyed it.
I enjoyed reading the book. I read to get away from the real world. I don’t like “heavy” books to read.
A fun read.
A nice story.
whiney
i liked the characters so much i was rooting for everything to turn out right. i felt like i too lived in the town and was invested in success! definitely will continue reading this series and look for more by this author. I loved the characters
Cute little story but pretty predictable. Easy to read but a little too repetitive. Says the same thing over and over in different words. Just filing more pages. But it’s a good story. I’ll read the next one in the series when I’m in the mood for a quick, easy read.
A quick relaxing read. A sweet clean storyline.
The Innkeeper’s House Hickory Grove #4 was a sweet, enjoyable read as well as the author being new to me. Both pleasant aspects. Although I did not read the prior books in this series, I had no trouble following along. And after reading this book, I would like to go back and read the series from the beginning as well as the books that take place after.
Hickory Grove is a small town. The citizens are loyal and involved. To say there are a few matchmakers present is an understatement. However, Greta was strong-willed and wasn’t going to let anyone influence her decisions. She was only in town on a temporary basis. Looking for a new start in life, Hickory Grove was only supposed to be a stop along the way. Her brother Rhett convinced her to come back to her hometown and stay while she thought about what was next. Greta was sure about one thing. She wanted to teach.
Luke has made Hickory Grove his home. When his beloved grandmother passes away and leaves her B&B to Luke and his aunt, Luke’s life becomes a bit overwhelming. But not so much so that he doesn’t take notice to the town’s beautiful new resident. The build of relationship between Luke and Greta is a slow one. Despite the attraction between them, neither Luke nor Greta is sure a relationship would work when she has plans to move on. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow and evolve regardless of the fact they were keeping distance between them intentionally. I felt their chemistry and connection. Both were mature characters despite not being sure of some things; not willing to take chances for one. But everything worked out in a satisfying way and I finished the last page with a smile and a curiosity about the previous books. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a quick, low angst, sweet and endearing read with a slew of likable secondary characters.
This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
Happy book – enjoyed it very much. Light reading – just what I needed!
Ok down home romance. Could use more character development.
The story premise is interesting but the characters just don’t jell for me. They meet and all of a sudden they are in love. Needs more main character development and less extraneous folks who one can’t keep track of.
I love that the teachers are portrayed as loving and dedicated to their professions
Fun and entertaining
Sweet, rated G story. Characters are rather flat but story had potential
Just a sweet, harmless romance.
A small town drama with romantic elements. Overall a good story but not what I had in mind from the blurb. I had expected it to be a romantic relationship story. There is a building romantic relationship. It’s just part of the overall drama of the small town: not really the focus of the story.
Fun read.
The book was ok. Boy meets girl – boy gets girl with very little suspense in-between. I didn’t understand the motivation for either the H or h for being in a small town. I won’t be reading any other books in the series
Too much back story, not nearly enough interaction between the main characters. I actually was bored, and stopped reading it…and I almost never stop reading a book once I’ve started it. Funny thing? I really liked the other book in this series that I read! I try to only leave positive reviews, so this is unusual for me. This is not a bad book, just not for me.
