A London officer goes undercover to expose a plot against the Crown Dover, England, 1808: Officer Alexander Moore goes undercover as a gambling gentleman to expose a high-stakes plot against the king–and he’s a master of disguise, for Johanna Langley believes him to be quite the rogue. . .until she can no longer fight against his unrelenting charm. All Johanna wants is to keep the family … wants is to keep the family inn afloat, but when the rent and the hearth payment are due at the same time, where will she find the extra funds? If she doesn’t come up with the money, there will be nowhere to go other than the workhouse–where she’ll be separated from her ailing mother and ten-year-old brother.
Alex desperately wants to help Johanna, especially when she confides in him, but his mission–finding and bringing to justice a traitor to the crown–must come first, or they could all end up dead.

Loved this story!! Clean but a nice love story! Trust in God, but not preachy.
I enjoyed the characters, the historical setting, the twists and turns, finding out who the traitor was and a happy ending.
Enjoyed this one.
I really enjoyed this book. It was hard to put it down. I liked the various characters and their interactions.
Historical novel with a bit of intrigue.
A very well written book. I will read more of her books.
The book was too “wordy”, a lot to read that was immaterial to the story. The puppet character, which seemed to take up a lot of story, was not at all necessary and boring. I did finish the book, but would have to say, was very disappointed in it. The inspirational portion was the redeeming quality of the book. The historical
portion was interesting.
Really enjoying the suspense.
It was refreshing break from the modern day writings. I quite enjoyed it.
In 1808 Dover, England is filled with mystery, suspense, deception, intrigue, hardship, treachery, romance and more as the story of The Innkeepers’s Daughter unfolds. I took turns putting this book aside because I couldn’t read another suspense filled page then picking it up again because I couldn’t stand not knowing what would happen next, and in the process, forgetting there was a world around me as I became lost within its pages. Michelle Griep has a wonderful way of capturing her readers’ attention and imagination and holding it.
The Innkeeper’s Daughter was very true to the setting of the times which makes it very believable. The author, like a number of her characters, holds her cards close to her chest. The true heroes and villains remained behind a smokey cloud of unpredictability throughout the telling of this story. In the end the Bow Street Runners got their men and women, though perhaps not as one might have predicted.
I found it easy to fall in love with the whole Langley family. They had been through difficult times that continued to worsen at the Blue Hedge Inn. Could the festivities of Oak Apple Day and the appearance of Mr. Morton, Mr. Quail and his so called musicians, bring enough money to save the inn?
I’m glad there was a happy ending and I really hope that Mr. Thatcher gets a book of his own and that Lucius Nutbrown makes an appearance in it.
I highly recommend this book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.
It was okay.
I’ve read many of Michelle’s book and hands down this is one of her better ones. No need to restate what others have said. This book is well written and it ‘s story line holds the attention. Sometime Michelle’s stories can be a tad bleak for the main character but fear not all works out in the end. Enjoy reading 🙂
Loved it.
Well written. Character development made you feel as if you knew them personally.
It was easy reading but I did enjoy the humor of some of the characters
Excellent Christian fiction, historical romance. It’s a story of intrigue with memorable characters, clean romance, action-packed plot plus inspiration. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I Really liked this book and was sad to get to the end!!! Very intertaining without being raunchy! Great characters in this book! Highly recommend this book!
Many characters who were developed well, and a good story. I don’t read historical fiction often but I enjoyed this book and the mystery and involved.
The Innkeeper’s Daughter What an entertaining, awesome, adventurous, mysterious, romantic and Faithful book. There is a traitor to the Crown and Alexander is out to find out who while staying at Johanna’s family Inn. I have to say this author is unreal – she is able to make the characters come to life off the pages and into your imagination. I really hope that I have the privilege to review her next book because this one was out of bounds – it was that good. I received a copy of this book from the Publisher and Netgalley; all of the opinions expressed in this review are all my own.

Interesting but a bit predictable. On the whole, a good read.
