With two matchmakers on the loose in the Amish community of Birch Creek, the new innkeeper doesn’t stand a chance in this sweet Amish romance. When Selah Ropp returns to Birch Creek, she is a different person than when she left. I know I haven’t done much listening in the past, Lord, she prays. But I’m listening now. Her new friend, Cevilla Schlabach, urges her to let go of regrets and allow … regrets and allow this to be a fresh start. Cevilla herself, though, hides a secret longing behind her weathered face.
Levi Stoll and his family spent a year transforming a large English house into a small inn. Now that they are open for business, Levi is pleased to have Selah join them as an employee–as long as his grandmother doesn’t try any matchmaking schemes on the two of them. After all, Selah seems as guarded as he feels, and the last thing he wants is for anyone to remind him of his history.
With Kathleen Fuller’s trademark humor and memorable characters, The Innkeeper’s Bride reminds us that God’s grace in the present and our hope for the future is stronger than any pain of the past.
- Sweet Amish romance
- Full-length novel
- Third in the Brides of Birch Creek series, but can be read as a stand-alone

Author Kathleen Fuller takes us back to Birch Creek in the third book of the Amish Brides of Birch Creek series. Don’t worry, you can read this as a standalone, however if you enjoy Amish fiction you’ll want to read books 1 & 2, I promise!
The characters are well developed and interesting, pulling the reader into the story. Fuller tackles some tough subjects, but does it gracefully and it’s not overwhelming. And with two matchmaking Mammis, there is a lot of fun to be had. Include a charming romance and there is something in this book for everyone!
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
I was so happy to see Selah get her own happy ending! She was a complicated character in the previous books in the series, so it was nice to learn more about her past and understand her struggle with depression. I enjoyed the cast of characters which included Levi’s family, Selah’s friends and family, and a non-Amish guest at the inn with secrets of his own. I thought the plot was interesting and added another dimension to the story when it delved into the father-son relationship of Jackson, the guest, and his father who owns a local motel and feels threatened by the new Amish inn. We also see the elderly couple, Cevilla and Richard, hit some rocky spots along their relationship journey. Levi is such a likeable guy, and even though he and Selah have their own ups and downs, their friendship was wonderful and naturally blossomed into more. This has been a delightful series with fun characters and a heart-warming community.

The Innkeeper’s Bride by Kathleen Fuller is the third novel The Amish Brides of Birch Creek. It can be read on its own if you have not read The Teacher’s Bride and The Farmer’s Bride. I found The Innkeeper’s Bride to be well-written with realistic characters. I liked that the characters had their own struggles, doubts and fears. Selah suffers from clinical depression which is not uncommon. Depression is hard to understand unless you suffer from it yourself. Selah feels ashamed that that she has depression and needs the aid of medication and a health professional. She also made a mistake with a man and does not want the unfortunate incident brought to light. Levi has his own doubts and has made mistakes in the past. She wonders if working at the inn is the right job for him. Levi would like to get to know Selah better, but he does not want his family to know. His sister, Nina will tease him and his grandmother, Delilah will meddle. Cevilla Schlabach has tried to be patient while she has waited for Richard to make a life changing decision. Unfortunately, after spending her whole adult life single, Cevilla finds she is no longer content. Cevilla is afraid to tell Richard how she feels. I love the relationship between Richard and Cevilla. They are an adorable couple. I have enjoyed their relationship. Cevilla and Delilah have become friends (of sort). Delilah has been doing a little meddling and barges in on Cevilla to get her feedback as well as complain when things do not go as she expected. There are some humorous moments between the two of them and I like their conspiring. Jackson Talbot and his father, Trevor are in The Innkeeper’s Bride. Trevor Talbot owns the Stay Inn which has been the only place to stay in Birch Creek until now. He does not like this new competition and sends Jackson to get intel on the Stoll Inn. I like Jackson and his journey. I would like to see more of Jackson. I enjoyed reading The Innkeeper’s Bride in which the author gave us delightful characters and a beautiful setting along with faith and humor. I like how Kathleen Fuller incorporate faith into the story. I am hoping that we get Nina Stoll’s story next time. The Innkeeper’s Bride is a charming, witty tale (of course, I expect nothing less from Kathleen Fuller).
“Life never goes like we plan. God usually has something better in store for us even if we don’t know we needed or wanted it.”
Levi had never met a stranger. Selah(I love her name) was still reeling from the past.
Reading, I pitied her and at the same time admired the fact that she decided to move forward and make a new life for herself.
Both of them were trying to recover and overcome their past. Levi by running the Inn which he loves dearly and Selah by trying to take responsibility for herself and actions.
Their story will intrigue you and make you laugh when you read the parts of the matchmaking by Levi’s grandmother.
Birch Creek brought to them what they needed and more. Love always wins.
I received a copy of the book from Netgalley and this is my honest opinion.
This is another excellent book in this faith-based series by Fuller. I love the realness of the characters, with life issues like mental health, family conflict, and alcoholism interwoven into the plot. As with the other books, the main love story between Selah and Levi is shown from two points of view with all the humor and misunderstandings a reader would want. The other romance between octogenarians, Cevilla and Richard, is introduced in the other two books. One aspect that was different than the other series titles was the introduction of a person outside the Amish community, with scenes in his world and how it ties into the inn’s success. Readers do not have to have read the first books to appreciate this novel.
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
I enjoyed the story. I did not realize until I started reading this that it is the third book in the series. This time it seems like it did matter. The story would have been more interesting if I had read the previous books, but it was ok that I hadn’t.
It is an Amish love story, but the title is a bit misleading. I do not want to explain further and spoil the story. This book does show the importance of trusting God, not all Christian books do.
The characters were quite well developed, though as stated previously, it would have been better to read the other books first, you would have known the characters better and you would have understood where they were coming from.
I enjoyed the story, and if you enjoy Amish romance, you will enjoy it also. The editing was not great but it was an ARC version and maybe didn’t transfer well to my Kindle. I give the story a 3 out of 5 star rating. This received this book from Zondervan Publishing through NetGalley. This review is not required and is my own, honest opinion.https://mybooksiread.blogspot.com/2020/01/the-innkeepers-bride-by-kathleen-fuller.html
Finally, we have Selah’s story and let me tell you it was worth the wait. I am not ashamed to admit for the first two books I could not stand Selah as I thought she was whiney, spiteful and at times hateful. Now that I understand why I want to go back and read the first two again as see her behavior with a different attitude. The story has reminded me not to judge others’ bad attitudes so quickly as there may be a reason behind their bad behavior.
Although this is the third book in the Amish Brides of Birch Creek series you can read as a stand-alone with no problems. Each story deals with an individual couple and other characters make appearances. Each story is a clean romance with no sex or foul language.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, Zondervan Fiction, through NetGalley. Any and all opinions expressed in the above review are entirely my own.
The Innkeeper’s Bride is filled with wonderful characters and intriguing situations and even though it is the third book in a series, I never felt in the dark because I hadn’t read the first book. I first met Cevilla Schlabach and Richard Johnson in Kathleen Fuller’s novella A Chance to Remember so I am thrilled to see that the friendship of their youth has deepened into love. Cevilla has always maintained that she is content to be single and devote her love to Jesus Christ but now, she finds herself wondering if Richard might ask her to be his wife. Her patience begins to wear thin as she waits to see if Richard can adapt to her way of life; will he finally make Cevilla a married woman?
Selah Ropp has recently moved back to Birch Creek and she now has a new job and new friends but she finds herself doubting her abiltiy to deal with these situations. Depression and anxiety issues have plagued Selah in the past and they cause her to second guess her abilities and even the thoughts and motives of those around her. It doesn’t help that one of her new employers seems determined to play matchmaker and that the other person involved is also her employer. Levi Stoll is stubborn and he claims indifference but I really liked him and his positive outlook. Is it possible that his good nature might help Selah adjust to her new life in Birch Creek, Ohio?
This is such a heartwarming story and there are many other characters who add fun and interest to The Innkeeper’s Bride. Cevilla and Delilah Stoll both like to play matchmaker and even though their matches often work, they aren’t without drama….and laughter! There are also many examples of misunderstandings due to a failure to communicate and those pesky reminders that often pop up out of nowhere. Past hurts truly can affect our present happiness and tarnish our plans for the future and this is when we need God’s grace to get us through!
Author Kathleen Fuller always makes me feel as if I am right there with her characters and this book is certainly no different. You will definitely want to read The Innkeeper’s Bride if you enjoy Amish fiction and Christian romance filled with family, faith, and hope.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author via NetGalley but I was under no obligation to write a positive review. These are my own thoughts
Great read!!!
Enjoyed this book very much.
Selah come back to Birch Creek with her brother Christian.
She is an hard worker, but she suffers of anxiety and depression.
“‘God usually has something better in store for us even if we don’t know we needed or wanted it’ She (Cevilla) patted Selah’s hand,
‘Focus on that instead of regrets’.”
Selah has fear to be around people, but Stoll family welcome her as a daughter and she likes working in the inn.
Through Selah, you can feel the anxiety and the worries to do something wrong, the change from calm behavior to getting angry over nothing,
what a bad ill. good topic, nice story, well written. I recommend it.
The new Amish inn at Birch Creek is about ready to open, and the Stolls face several challenges as they work toward its launch, including the competition, who doesn’t want them to take away from his business. The Stolls hire a returning prodigal, Selah Ropp, who is determined to do things right. But the matchmakers are at work, interfering with the young couples’ lives. However, Cevilla may have found her own match as her ongoing relationship with her Englisch neighbor turns more serious. The story has plenty of problems and opportunities for growth as we enjoy spending time among the characters, who seem so real. I got a copy from the publisher through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.
Another great Birch Creek Bride book. This one is about Selah andLevi. Selah had left Birch Creek and just returned. She suffers from clinical Depression which she hides. She keeps to herself and lives with her brother Christian and his wife Ruby. When Selah looks for a job because she wants to live on her own she struggles to find one. When she is hired at a Inn to clean rooms she starts to to change. . It is a great book with a interesting topic. Loved the characters n the book. Thanks to the publishing company and NetGalley for allowing me to read and give my opinion
The Innkeeper’s Bride by Kathleen Fuller is book 3 of An Amish Bride of Birch Creek Novel series. I have not read book 2 yet but that was not a problem.
This is an enjoyable Amish novel with matchmakers, a budding romance, an update on an ongoing romance, family drama, and a medical condition. It basically has something that we all have dealt with in our lives.
I did not want to put it down once I started reading it. The story has an enjoyable flow that will keep you engrossed. You may be left with a craving for an orange twist though.
Fuller has the knack for writing Amish life with family love and humor.
I was given an ARC by NetGalley and the publisher, Zondervan for an honest review.
Just like her other two books in Kathleen Fuller’s Brides of Birch Creek series, The Innkeeper’s Bride has charming and wonderful characters that you will want to fall in love with.
It is an Amish romance that involves two people and someone else that lives in Birch Creek that has a secret of her own.
Selah Ropp returns to Birch Creek with a secret and wants to start over and she also suffers from depresssion.
Levi Stoll has opened an Inn with his parents and has hired Selah to work for them.
There is not one but two matchmakers on the loose in Birch Creek trying to get these two people with different personalities together.
Can Selah let go of her regrets of the past and leave them behind, so that she can have a future. Will the efforts of the two matchmakers work and get these two young people together.
You don’t want to miss reading third book in Kathleen’s Bride of Birch Creek series.
I loved that the author gives us a story with a young woman dealing with depression, often swept under the rug, but with Selah and her trying to go on with her life, we get a glimpse into what she has to deal with.
Then we have a young man that is quickly given more responsibility than he anticipated, and finds out he needs to learn to trust his faith.
Can these two unlikely individuals form a relationship?
Now, I have been a read the other two books in this series, and I love that old characters that I care about are brought back in this book, and we are updated!
We also have Amish match makes at their finest!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Zondervan. and was not required to give a positive review.
The Innkeeper’s Bride has charming and delightful characters that will keep you entertained. Plus, a lesson we would all do well to remember the past is best left behind. Amishman Levi Stoll and his family are trying to open an inn and need a maid. When Selah Ropp is offered the job, she is excited to accept the position. When their personalities collide will they still be able to work together? This is the third book in the Amish Brides of Birch Creek series, and each is stand-alone. You’ll enjoy this story with sweet romance and inspiration.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. The opinions are my own.
