Stevie Franklin is ready to go all-out Grinch on Christmas this year, but a snowy trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains could provide some unexpected gifts… Stevie is thrilled to help her best friend Sunny launch her new greenhouse business in Blue Hollow Falls. Not only does it give her a chance to visit the quaint location, but it’s a welcome distraction from Stevie’s recent bad luck with men. … recent bad luck with men. Just one catch: since Sunny’s home is under renovation, Stevie must stay at the local inn, whose amenities feature hunky innkeeper, Noah Tyler.
Noah may be as tempting as her grandmother’s famous sweet potato pie, but city-girl Stevie isn’t sticking around—and she doesn’t do flings. Yet when Noah’s chef gets stranded in a Christmas Eve snowstorm, Stevie can’t resist pitching in and serving up some of her family’s favorite recipes. The magic of a Blue Ridge Christmas is already rekindling Stevie’s holiday spirit and making her wonder what else she might be missing out on. Now can Noah restore Stevie’s belief in love?

A lovely short novella set during the holiday season, it packs a punch in the romance department. Stevie has come to help her friend Sunny set up her greenhouse in the part that has been rehabbed, and when she sees it she know just why Sunny fell in love. Enter Noah the keeper/owner of the town Inn and friend to Sawyer and Sunny. When they meet you can tell there is instant attraction and immediately want to see them end up together. The naturalness between the characters felt real, and their banter from beginning to end always brought a smile to my face. No matter their different lives they show that love is worth having as long as you are willing to compromise, communicate and work for it. I love when an author writes a novella between other books because it is a fun way to revisit the characters that you’ve come to know and love. I look forward to seeing what else is to come for these characters and the scenic town that they call home. Who will love come to next?
I received an ARC of this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Great read
I loved The Inn at Blue Hollow Falls by Donna Kaufman. Stevie has come to Blue Hollow Falls to help her friend Sunny set up the research plants in her greenhouse. She is blown away by the beauty of it all, including the snow covered ground and gorgeous men, hoping her bad luck with men might just change. With Sunny’s home under construction, Stevie ends up staying at the local Inn, run by the handsome Noah Tyler. While at the Inn, as the weather affects everyone and everything, Stevie goes into helper mode, as she was trained by her granny; this includes serving up some of her family’s favorite recipes. For someone who doesn’t celebrate Christmas, can the magic of Blue Hollow Falls bring some of its spirit to Stevie and can Noah restore Stevie’s belief in love?
I highly recommend this outstanding book to other readers. It was difficult for me to put this book down, reading it in one day. Ms. Kaufman is a wonderful story teller drawing me into her books, making me forget the world around me. Again, she created a story which allowed me to visualize the inn and the surrounding beauty of the mountains and hills of Blue Hollow Falls covered in snow. Oh, and recipes were included. This is the second book in this series and I can’t wait for the next one to be published.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
The Inn at Blue Hollow Falls by Donna Kauffman
Cute Christmas holiday tale of Stevie and she’s visiting with a girlfriend and she’s a guru with setting up the greenhouse of orchids and other plants.
She is staying at the inn and things happen to draw her closer to the inn owner, snow, blizzard, no electric , food on short supply, etc. They find ways to entertain themselves while also helping others keep occupied.
Some sex scenes and I like the snow activities mentioned.
Their relationship goes slowly as they both decide to keep it friendly with no commitments, has it gone further than that?
Recipes included.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).
This was a great addition to the Blue Hollow Falls series. This warm and caring community made me care about what happened to the characters.
A short holiday novella set in the Blue Ridge, and a nice companion to Blue Hollow Falls, though fine as a stand-alone. I enjoyed the historic inn, the snow storm, and preparations and festivities within the inn for the guests during the holidays. And, of course, the budding romance.
The Inn At Blue Hollow Falls is another great book by Donna Kauffman.
This is Stevie’s and Noah’s story that mostly takes place at Noah’s inn as they are snowed in. You get glimpses of Sunny and Sawyer from the first book Blue Hollow Falls.
I enjoyed joining in and reading about how Stevie and Noah meet and fall in love. This story is a sweet love story with a touch of humor mixed in.
I love this story! When I read the first book in this series, I was hooked. The setting for these stories is, of course, Blue Hollow Falls in the Blue Ridge Mountains and I immediately fell in love with the people and with the setting. Ms. Kauffman describes the area so well that I actually felt like I was walking through the fields and buildings – could actually feel the history, if you will. And this story during the holidays? I felt the magic in the air. And yes, it is a standalone story but as a holiday story in (what I hope to be a LONG) series? I got to visit with characters from the first book to see how they were doing. Love that.
Stevie Franklin works in Washington, DC and is friends with Sunny. She goes out to visit Sunny who is now living in the Blue Ridge Mountains but Stevie has to stay at the local inn. She meets Noah Tyler, friend to Sunny, who also owns and operates the inn. A wonderful holiday story ensues! Here’s what I enjoyed the most about it: Yes, it is a ‘feel good’ holiday adventure. Yes, both Stevie and Noah need to stop over-thinking their lives and pasts in order to have a happily ever after. However, BOTH of these characters are strong, thoughtful, teeny bit scarred individuals. Stevie is a very strong woman but has a soft streak, is playful, loving and snarky – very cool. Noah is a warm, loving, far too busy innkeeper who has had a bad relationship in the past. With Noah, I found that he has such strength of character, without being an alpha jerk, at least to me. I just adored him and how he treated everyone around him, most of all Stevie.
I won’t retell the story but know that it is fun, thoughtful, loving and quite funny at times! Just the peripheral characters that show up at the inn, and Noah’s friends, will have you smiling from beginning to end. GREAT holiday read, so happy to be back in Blue Hollow Falls for a visit, and can’t wait for more stories!
I have to say, I was quite glad that I had read book one in the series before reading The Inn at Blue Hollow Falls . I don’t think I would have been lost, but Stevie was introduced in that first book and it just made getting to read her story more satisfying. It was the same with the setting. Most of the story takes place within the inn and very few of the townsfolk make appearances. So, all that said, it will stand on it’s own.
Stevie had a slightly unconventional upbringing and without any family around, she’s not really interested in Christmas. She decides to go to Blue Hollow Falls for a working vacation with her bestie Sunny. And then there’s Noah. He’s the local innkeeper, fulfilling his life’s dream. Both are a little gun shy when it comes to relationships, but there are sparks between them… and those sparks lit up the pages.
There honestly wasn’t much of a plot other than bringing these two together. And for a short story, that was all that was needed. Ms Kauffman, did a great job of character development as well as really showing the reader the romance between Noah and Stevie. I enjoyed watching them both get over their misgivings and give in to the chance at true love. Ms Kauffman had me laughing and then crying as I eagerly turned the pages.
After reading Blue Hollow Falls , I was eager to return to this series and couldn’t wait to get Stevie’s story. And I love Christmas novellas, so this book hit all the right notes for me. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Ms Kauffman is one of my go-to authors when I need a solid read. And The Inn at Blue Hollow Falls is another fine example of why I keep coming back.
My review originally posted at Romancing the Book.
I have loved all the books Donna Kauffman writes. The setting is the Blue Ridge Mountains – a beautiful part of Virginia.
Sweet and cute story perfect for the holidays. Noah and Stevie’s love story developed kind of fast. This story had more of a love at first sight theme but their relationship did build as the short story progressed. They did actually get to know one another before jumping into bed together and it was fun to read. Stevie was a real sweetheart. I loved how she was so helpful and kind. And Noah was hot and adorable. My only complaint is that it wasn’t longer. I just wanted to keep reading more about these two. But overall, it was a great novella to read.
