Are you ready to get lost in the world of Royce Hale? I thought I was, but nothing could have prepared me for this. And this whirlwind is only book one!
Royce Hale is the kind of man you outwardly loath but secretly love. He’s been groomed to be cocky, arrogant, and to always get what he wants. Being filthy rich only makes it easier. He’s confident, gorgeous, and insanely sexy. But there’s another side to Royce that many don’t see. He’s compassionate, charming, funny, and sweet.
Marist Northcott is fantastic. She’s strong, independent, and doesn’t care what others think of her. But in a twist of fate, all of her greatest traits will be tested. Just like Royce, not many people aside from him will see this side of her. She’s beautiful, passionate, challenging, sacrificial, and loyal.
There’s never a lack of chemistry in this story. From their first meeting, Royce and Marist burned up the pages. And that’s only part of the fun. I won’t even get into all the twists, surprises, and revelations you’ll never see coming (no spoilers for you, my friend). And the heat level is off the charts! That’s ALWAYS something you can guarantee in a Nikki Sloane novel. Cliffhanger Haters: this is book ONE in the trilogy so there’s plenty more drama to be had. Consider yourself warned. I can’t wait for the next installment!
I am so beyond at a lose for words right now…
Marist is a bright young lady who gets thrust into this impossible situation, or so we think (I am still trying to figure that one out). Royce is a playboy jerk face with his own agenda in mind. These two seem like an unlikely pair, but maybe thats why they seem to make a good pair…at first.
Royce knows just how to play Marist so that she isn’t second guessing her decisions. He is honest with her from the beginning when he tells her not to trust him, but he gives her just enough hope and orgasms to have her believing that she can in fact trust him…
All bets are off though when daddy jerk face (Royce’s dad) makes him an offer he should refuse, but can’t on the count of him being a jerk face!!!!!! He leaves Marist in the lurch and questing her life choices.
Good lord thou that sexual tension turned steamy, dirty, leaving you asking for more sex is HAWWTT!
I mean Marist never had a chance when Royce came at her with all that hot sexual tension, those smoldering eyes, those busy hands, and that filthy mouth!
Y’all will want to dive into this dirty society…I am dying to find out what happens next, so don’t leave us hanging to long Nikki 🙂

WOW!!!!! This is the first book by this author that I have read and it won’t be the last. I went into the book blind not knowing anything about it and not having any blurbs and I am glad that I did. The story was different than anything I have personally read before and it really drew me in from the start. I could picture the story playing out in my mind as I was reading, which to me shows how well written the book is. I cannot wait to see how this all turns out and if everyone gets what they are looking for in the end. I have a strong feeling Marist, Royce and Macalister have a wild ride ahead. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book for an honest review.
Let me just say, I am still shaking from this one! From the characters and their unique names, Marist and Royce, to the secrets lurking behind the pages, Nikki Sloane has created a world in which I truly never saw coming. There isn’t much I can write about this story without giving it away, and this is one you need to discover on your own. But I will try. From the beginning this one pulled me in and had me questioning what is really going on here. What is the initiation they keep referring too? And how will our characters play into this. What I didn’t see coming in this story was EVERYTHING! I saw none of it coming. It was brilliant! Superbly written, very well-developed characters and a story unlike anything I have ever read. From the unspeakable things that occur behind closed doors, to the intimate times these two have leading up to the climax of the book, this tale falls into its own genre. There is no where I could put it that it would fit into just one type of novel. I can’t stop thinking about everything I read, everything I felt for the characters. The emotion, the desire, the devastation. It’s been days after I devoured the last sentence, and I can’t wait for August! I must know more. I must know what all will be revealed from this point forward. I typically don’t prefer cliffhangers, I hate having to go back and re-read to refresh my memory, but I can’t wait for that with this book! I am looking forward to going back and reliving it again. If it truly ever leaves me between now and August…
Wow! Just when I thought Nikki Sloane couldn’t surprise me anymore after reading her Blindfold series, it’s curveball after curveball with this one. She straddles that tantalizing line constantly, dangling the “will it happen?” or “won’t it happen?” in the reader’s face, keeping the anticipation at cardiac levels until it does or doesn’t happen.
I really loved Marist Northcutt. She’s an introverted bookworm at heart. Thrust into a situation which doesn’t have many great alternative solutions, Marist has to transform herself into someone she really isn’t at her core. She has to be polished, refined, classy and ready for the public. As uncomfortable as she is, Marist doesn’t show it and always remembers to channel her inner courage, knowing that she has a higher goal and has to do what needs to be done. She might be playing the martyr, but she’s going to be in charge, too. And the fact that Marist can stand up to and negotiate with Macalister Hale, the Hale family patriarch, is a huge bonus to her character and strength.
As for Royce Hale, I liked that he had multiple sides to him, that was completely unexpected. He wasn’t what I thought he would be. Growing up with extreme wealth and privilege, he has a role to fulfill with certain expectations on his shoulders. He has a public persona, especially around his father. But when he’s alone with Marist, he’s someone else and I loved that version of him. But having been trained and raised by Macalister, Royce is very ambitious and always has a plan formulating in his head and stays silent about a lot of things. So it’s not completely certain which side of Royce is actually real vs scripted and I am eager to figure that out.
Of course there’s steam. My eyes might have bugged out a little and my face turned red while turning the pages as fast as possible and trying not to miss a single word. My respect for Marist increased tenfold for a particular scene where she went into a situation with virtually little to no experience, scarcely knowing about it beforehand, and still participated in all of it; my nerves were frayed to threads on her behalf. And that ending! Talk about a hook of a first book in a trilogy! I can’t wait to find out what happens next with Marist and the Hale family.
This was a wonderful start to this series. The plot is engaging and intriguing and the characters are layered and complex. Marist and Royce will quickly capture your interest. The storyline will keep you right on the razor’s edge and have you filled with anticipation or dread (depending on the situation). Drama, secrets, raw emotion, steam and some big, mind blowing twists will put your own emotions through the wringeras you read as quickly and as often as you can. Tyr to prepare for the cliffhanger because O.M.G!!!! Part two can not be released soon enough for me!
You know when you’ve read “THAT” book, the one that consumes your thoughts, the one that you want to read slowly to let it all sink in though you can’t help but binge read cause you just want to consume the whole gawd-damn thing; the one that you reread cause you can’t believe you finished it but can’t get enough of? Well, The Initiation by Nikki Sloane IS THAT BOOK and it has completely, whole heartedly, 100% consumed my every waking thought since I finished reading it!
I’m still reeling from this hawt, sexy, sultry, read! The emotional highs and lows I experienced reading this book is the quintessential book hangover I experience every time I read one of Nikki Sloane’s books!
When Ms. Sloane writes, she pulls you into her world completely immersing you into the pages of her book. Her words are seductive, the mood ominous, and her characters devastatingly complex.
The Initiation is richly layered and unfolds the perverse world of Boston’s Cape Hill, Elite One Percent. Marist, our female leading lady, knows she isn’t the favoured daughter, and for the most part is barely acknowledged by her peers after Royce Hale blacklisted her from her peer’s social circle.
One can’t help wonder if this was by design?
It isn’t until Marist is 20 that Royce pays her any mind, and invites his potential fiancé Emily and Marist to his graduation celebration. The party has more than one purpose, not only to celebrate Royce, but to publicly showcase Emily and Royce as a future pair. But Royce has invited both sisters, the beautiful and well adored Emily and her misfit sister Marist, who would rather lock herself in the Hale library than socialize with her peers.
It’s in said library that Royce confronts Marist and turns her world upside down. Royce has a request, he is insistent about it, and Marist can’t resist him, agreeing to what he asks of her. It isn’t until a year later that Royce comes back to collect on Marist’s promise to him. The timing for this unlikely pair is paramount, what Royce wants and what Marist is willing to give will be dependant on Emily, the potential future fiancé. Everyone holds a stake Royce’s Initiation, and no one comes out a real winner…
“A DEAL IS DEEMED GOOD when neither side is happy at the end of negotiations…”
– Marist
And one more delightful little treat before I end this review, we get a little visit from Noemi and Jospeh from the Blindfold Club series! LOVE IT when Nikki Sloane drops fan fav characters in her current books!!!!!
This is a must read for anyone who loves a good angsty read!
Readers, eat your hearts out! This book will give you all the feels!
Whoa! What a great read! Devoured this in one sitting, I could not put it down I needed to know what happened next. Marist is a bit of an odd one, she doesn’t care what ppl think until she has too, she’s strong and speaks her mind. Royce is well THE catch of the town, and he may not seem as strong as her, but I’m still waiting for more to come to that conclusion. These two are the power couple mixed in a really messed up situation. Can’t wait for the next book.
I went into this book knowing nothing, I fell in lust with the cover and knew I had to read it. Sometimes it’s easy to slot a book into a particular genre but not this one.
This Is the first of the Filthy Rich Americans trilogy and trust me they are filthy and richer than god. I was captivated by this book and the characters. From the cover to the blurb to all the words this book is absolutely phenomenal. The author easily brought Marist and Royce to life. The chemistry and sexual tension between them is scorching. Mcalister is the power crazed manipulator in this game of power and greed. Who’s going to come out on top my money is on Medusa.
This book was the freaking bomb! Talk about power, control, manipulation, deceit and so much more. This book HAD IT ALL!
I was completely HOOKED. Every single book has been on top for me and this book has been the best one yet from Nikki Sloane.
The intensity, twists and turns had me sitting on the edge of my seat. The characters are the type that you either love or hate but the plot is so twisted that it will leave you not wanting it to end and when it does, you wish it kept going.
The elite world of the filthy rich will have you wishing the story would go on and on and on.
Marist and Royce totally had me at the palm of their hands. I couldn’t get enough of them and what their story was about.
Guys, all I have to say is this series will have you so damn hooked that you might just end up with a book hangover once this is all said and done.
5 MAJOR STAR
Filthy Rich Americans? Yes, and God, yes. They most definitely are. The Initiation is your introduction to the very hot, very steamy, and very unpredictable world of the elite. With jaw dropping and original characters, this is Sloane at her best. I have loved her other books but she’s built a world with twists that keep you desperately wanting more. And I want definitely want more.
First thing for all you that don’t like cliffhanger this have one but the story is SOOOO good I don’t mind it at all.
Intriguing, sensual, sexy, page gripping and everything in between.
This book have it all.
The tension, even the sexual tension give this book an edge than I haven’t felt or read in a long time. The way the plot evolves and becames more intriguing is exciting. I really couldn’t find it me to put this book down…
Now can I have book 2,pleaseeeeee!!!
Just WOW with the ending of The Initiation, the first book in the Filthy Rich Americans trilogy. I cannot wait to see how the rest of this story unfolds in the second and third book, I need the second book ASAP.
Marist Northcott and Royce Hale both come from powerful, rich, and scheming families. Royce’s family is right at the top of the power structure, being more powerful, rich and influential than everyone else. In particular, Royce’s father Macalister will really get your attention in this story. I’m not going to say anything else on that, you really need to read the story and see for yourself.
This is one of those stories that once you start reading, it completely takes over your afternoon as you just need to keep reading until you get to the end. And what an ending it was!
