Rex Dalton, the former black ops field agent, and his best friend, Digger, the former military dog, are exploring the remarkable history of Peru when they befriend a retired American couple. The couple invites them to join their expedition to a remote village high up in the Andes Mountains to inspect an archaeological site in which they want to invest.
But on arrival in the village, it doesn’t … arrival in the village, it doesn’t take long for Rex to discover that his new friends are victims of a cleverly designed con. This con is run by people who will do anything to make sure Rex and Digger don’t interfere.
THE INCA CON is a full-length novel, a nail-biting thriller by best-selling author JC Ryan. It is the fifth book in the electrifying new Rex Dalton series.

Excellent thriller. Great characters.
Rex Dalton, the main character in the series, was a former black ops. agent with an independent company that did dirty work the government wouldn’t. To get out of the organization, he faked death so he could pursue the other things in life he loved. He inherits his best buddy’s highly trained military dog Digger during his faked death. Thus begins the series of adventures he and Digger go on. Under assumed identities, he travels the world. In this story, it’s Peru and the scamming of Inca antiquities. It’s a good, intricate plot. The descriptions of the indigeneous people and their way of life in their remote village seemed believable. It was an action-packed thriller. I have to say, without Digger, Rex might not have gotten out of the predicaments the author put him in. Of course everything turns out well so Rex can get on to his next adventure. I enjoyed it.
totally awesome
The plot starts off great but then goes off the rails pretty fast. A really far-fetched story. I fast trackedvto get to the end.
Good read
Having read some of the other books in this series I looked forward to a fast paced story. It was not quite as exciting as the others but still an enjoyable read and entertaining. “Digger” of course is always ready to entertain you in the story and while you always knew who the bad guise were, you didn’t know exactly what they would do or how Rex and Digger would stop them. All in all I enjoyed it and would recommend it to others.
tedious and unrealistic
Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. It grabbed me and carried me along.
Started out pretty good but became predictable and boring
“The Inca Con” by J.C. Ryan introduces readers to Rex Dalton, a retired black ops agent and his military dog, Digger. Digger had belonged to Rex’s friend who was killed along with everyone else in their group except for Rex. Together they travel the world seeking new places and meeting new people. Before he became a CRC black ops agent, Rex had acquired undergraduate degrees in history and linguistics and then got a Master’s Degree in political science. He had planned to become a diplomat but after his parents and younger siblings were killed in the bombing of a train station in Spain, he joined the Marines, then the Delta Force, and then was recruited into the CRC, a top secret government agency. His education left him with an almost genius ability in any language and a thirst for exploring new places and learning about indigenous people. While in Peru learning about the ancient Inca civilization, Rex and Digger meet a retired American couple, Florence (Flo) and Barry Marks, who have been approached by a young man, Junior Roper, and told that he had discovered an unexplored ancient Inca ruin, high up in the Andes Mountains, that is filled with artifacts that have never been touched or even seen by anyone except for himself and the indigenous people in the village near the ruins. When Rex meets the Junior Roper, he sees that Digger has taken an immediate dislike to him. Rex knows that Digger is a very good judge of character and suspects that something is wrong with the man. Flo invites Rex to join them in exploring the ancient ruins that Junior had told them about. Rex just does not trust Junior, especially when he sees that Junior is carrying a gun. Junior explains that he has to carry a gun because of all the snakes and wild animals they might encounter on their journey to the indigenous village and unexplored ruins. Rex’s distrust and Digger’s dislike of Junior makes readers feel the same way about him. I knew that the Marks had retired and sold their business so they could travel and visit the many archaeological sights that they had read about such as Machu Picchu in Peru and I knew that Junior already told them that he had been scammed out of thirty-thousand dollars, making the Marks feel sorry for him. I could not put the book down. I wondered if there really was an unexplored archaeological ruin or if Junior figured out some way to get the Marks’ money. I wondered what they would find when they got to the village of indigenous people. I am sure readers would get just as sucked into the book as I was. As you can see, I highly recommend the book to anyone who likes being wrapped up in an adventure while they are sitting at home, reading a book.
Usually a J.C Ryan fan but this one dragged. Couldn’t wait to finish.
An enjoyable read. My second Rex and Digger book. Will read more

Pretty good book although the plot is not too challenging. Good light reading.
Another exceptional book by Mr J C Ryan. I love the books by Mr Ryan. This one is no exception. He writes intriguing and interesting stories. The story of Rex Dalton and his faithful canine Digger is awesome. Mr Ryan has a way of bringing us readers deep into the story. I would gladly give this book a higher rate than 5 if possible.
