I”m a Sherlock fan from way back. I’m also a Sci-Fi fan. So a bunch of Sherlock stories with a sci-fi spin is right up my alley. Some of the stories were great fun. Some were “meh”. One or two departed so far from “canon” that I wanted to scold the writer. All in all, I enjoyed this collection.
Fun anthology. Most of these stories were written in the style of the original Arthur Conan Doyle adventures, which I love. They swing from the classic to the bizarre – a mixed bag of gems with, imo, just a few clinkers.
I love anything and everything Sherlock Holmes. I try to buy everything that I can that is in the Holmes pantheon. I’m not quite a bookaholic when it comes to Holmes’ books – I don’t have 10 copies of every book in the Sherlock Holmes Universe. But should something happen to any of those books – mold, mildew, the book falls apart from numerous …
A collection of independent authors trying their hand at Sherlock Holmes. For the most part I enjoyed the book. A couple of the stories I just couldn’t get into and one was pretty much too simple, but overall it was an enjoyable way to pass the time.
As an avid Sherlockian reader I found these stories to be entertaining and close to the originals in some ways. It was interesting seeing Holmes and Watson in situations very unlike their normal ones.
Didn’t enjoy every story, but most of them were excellent. They were very creative, well-written, and several totally new takes on Holmes and Watson.
I really have never read sci-fi before, I liked reading the women authors that I have read before. It was a new way of looking at Holmes and Watson.
Well written takes on the Sherlock mythos. Liked some more than others but really good read overall.
I was fortunate enough to be able to catch this book on sale (it had been on my wish list since I read the sample), and was really impressed. Many different takes on Sherlock Holmes’ adventures, some formulaic, some original, some in conflict with Doyle’s creation, and some thought provoking. If you’re a rabid purist, you probably won’t …
As with any collection, you get some that are not the best, but there is enough variety here to suit almost all reading desires (unless your interested is steamy romance). Read through all of them and don’t just skip to the last by Neil Gaiman, which I found the most unique of the approximately 29 stories. John Joseph Adams I feel does a very …
I love that the adventures of Sherlock continue in the works of these creative authors! May Sherlock Holmes never cease to amaze us through new adventures yet to be written!
slow and not well written
Meh. Not sure the 1-2 good stories are worth slogging through this entire collection to get to – Disappointing.
You can never get enough Sherlock Holmes and in this book you have different writers with different styles writing short stories. Very entertaining
Some stories really good, others not so good.
Love it, love it, love it! Wish it went on forever.
Not only is this a great collection in and of itself; but I’ve now discovered new authors I want to read!
Pretty good collection of short stories
I enjoyed the different takes on Holmes and Watson.
