Even cursed blood can fall prey to love’s bite.Lawrence Derrickson never wanted to be a chief, let alone a vampire, but fate has always been a fickle beast…callous to the inner-workings of a man’s heart.Seven hundred years after he was turned, he’s still chief of Clan Karyn, although his clan now consists of only his three siblings. With no more castle to protect and defend, they are dedicated to … protect and defend, they are dedicated to only one cause—protecting the Cheld—their superhuman descendants.
Lawrence longs for a different life—a life of his own passions, desires, and dreams—but duty drives him further from that with each passing century of protecting the Cheld. Until their mission brings him to Stone Haven. In saving a fledgling Cheld, Alessandra Fiore, he meets her best friend, Toni O’Neill, a human woman who seems to understand him better than anyone has in over ten lifetimes. Too bad she’s already taken.
Lawrence Derrickson is off limits. Or so Toni has been telling herself ever since the first time she saw him. Sure, Lawrence is a devastatingly handsome vampire, but she has a boyfriend—one who’s safe and comfortable, if not exciting or reliable or trustworthy. Besides, what would someone like Lawrence want with her? Toni’s fast approaching thirty, and she still doesn’t know what she wants to be when she grows up. But her heart urges her to take a chance and leave her predicable life behind her to explore the inner-workings of Lawrence’s heart.
Lawrence feels he’s finally found a home, and the love of his long life in Toni, but trouble soon finds him in Stone Haven, forcing him to decide what matters most—desire or duty. Family or his own heart.
Fate can be a fickle, callous, evil tormentor…
Although the prologue to THE IMMORTAL’S SALVATION is set in medieval Scotland with its hero once a Scottish clan chief, it is a steamy contemporary vampire romance with an HEA. Fans of Elizabeth Hunter, Jeaniene Frost and Lynsay Sands may enjoy this paranormal romance series.more
Whereas the first book in the series, The Vampire’s Temptation, blew me away with its fresh, modern take on an old trope, the old-fashioned romanticism of The Immortal’s Salvation simply swept me away!
Vastly different from Kenton, whom we met in the first book, Lawrence is down-to-earth, humble and unpretentious. And, he immediately won my heart by being patient and respectful, exercising great control and restraint, while waiting for Toni to be free from the entanglements of her toxic relationship with Tyler, before making a move or expressing his feelings.
Because they have both dealt with the loss of family in their past, Lawrence and Toni share some of the same, deep scars and are painfully haunted by the same survivor’s guilt. In each other, they find not only a kindred spirit but someone who brings the healing balm of peace to their aching soul. They also discover that they share a similar vision for the future. And, when it comes to chemistry, they find they have that in hot, steamy abundance, as well.
But, although Toni makes Lawrence crave her body, she also stimulates him with her bright mind, quick wit and independent spirit. And, she ignites in him the desire to put down roots and build a lasting, meaningful life, in one set place, for the first time in centuries. The two of them just seem to perfectly balance each other out, and there is no doubt that, in each other, they have finally found their true mate and the love of their lifetime.
I think Lawrence & Toni may be my new favorite Vamp & vixen duo!
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
The Immortal’s Salvation by Cecelia Mecca is the second book in the Bloodwite series. I love the story and the writing, it’s sooo well done. I liked Lawrence and Toni in the first book but I feel like we are really starting to discover who these characters are. Lawrence for instance is actually this really complex character. He is not predictable at all. He’s this good guy with a wild and utterly seductive side to him. He is a charming, lively character, yet he has a little bit of the tortured hero going on. He’s just the right combination of everything. My god! Talk about a powerfully magnetic character. I was team Kenton up until I read this book and now I am 100% team Lawrence. Toni is a lot less superficial than I imagined her to be and a lot deeper. I love how the relationship starts off with them, it’s so good. I can not wait to hear more!! Great book/series, highly recommend it.
Looking forward to the next installment of this series.
I so enjoyed reading this sexy paranormal romance and didn’t want to put it down or for it to end. I was so drawn to the characters, the author does an amazing job of making you feel like you are a part of their lives. I wish I would have read book one first just because I would have been more understanding of the characters from the previous story. This book was a standalone and it’s not a big deal if you don’t read the previous book I just enjoyed this one so much I wish I would have started from the beginning. If you love a good paranormal romance this is a book you don’t want to miss out on.
I’ll start by saying that I was worried that the developing relationship between Toni and Lawerence was going to feel forced. When the author announced in her reader group that I’m a member of that there would be no love triangles, I wondered how the romance of Alessandra’s friend, Toni and her protector, Lawerence would play out. Fortunately, while they moved quickly; Toni and Lawrence did seem to have an easy chemistry that was enjoyable to read about. However, the quick transition to a serious relationship fits in with what has been nagging at me since I started this series. At times Toni and Alessandra come off a little like mature teenagers than adult women whom are almost thirty. I have a literal thinking process, so maybe it’s just my mind working overtime on something that is actually normal for people. I do like the women’s personalities, it’s just given their current and future professions, I would think how they talk things out would carry more weight.
Moving on, I liked how the story and writing in general appears to be advancing the world the author has created. Often times when I find a new series, the next book in the sequence is virtually a carbon copy of the one before it. The Bloodwite series is not like that. The book even ends with a mystery that hints that there is more to discover about not just the cheld and vampires, but the other residents of Stone Haven as well.
I haven’t read any vampire romances in a while because they all seem to follow the same pattern. Cecilia Mecca’s twists on the vampire lore, as well as the more adult world environment the characters are inhabiting have made me consider getting back into the vampire based fiction books. Can’t wait for book 3!
Lawrence and Toni were both introduced in The Vampire’s Temptation, though their story can be rad as a standalone. However I advise reading this series from the start. I really enjoyed the evolution of not only Toni and Lawrence’s relationship, but the growth of Toni in particular. Lawrence was an ideal blend of strength, sweetness and sexy making the perfect compliment for Toni. The story flowed well, though it did leave a few unanswered questions. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
The Immortal’s Salvation is book 2 in the Bloodwite series and what a fabulous addition to the series it is. This can be read as a standalone but to fully enjoy it and learn the background, you should read Book 1 — The Immortal’s Temptation. Cecelia Mecca continually amazes me. Just when I think her books can’t get any better, she just blows on by with another exceptional book. She draws you into the story and you become involved with the characters and follow along until the end. This is the tale of Lawrence Derrickson and Toni O’Neill who were introduced in The Immortal’s Temptation. I loved how the relationship between Lawrence and Toni develops. I highly recommend this book and series. I received a copy and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Absolutely Loving this Series!!
Toni is working two jobs and dating Tyler who may not really be a nice guy. Her best friend Alessandra is now married to a vampire Kenton and has some powers of her own. Lawrence is also a vampire and while there is an attraction between he and Toni, neither will act upon it while she is in a relationship.
This sets the stage for sizzling relationships, family dynamics – in this case reaching back centuries and the life-threatening danger from those who are members of the Sect.
Captivating characters and relationship building. Make sure you have time to finish because you will not be willing to put it down until the last page!!
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
This series just gets better I can not wait to read the next book in the Bloodwite by Cecelia Mecca. A well written book this is Lawrence and Toni’s story. Lawerence is a seven-hundred-year-old vampire and Toni is the human he comes to love. I would say to get the best effect of this series start with book one. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Cecelia , your well of characters to quench the thirst of readers is astounding!
Your Bloodwite series is just proof of the wonderful characters you bring to life .
Book 2 in this series ,” The Immortal’s Salvation” is further proof that an author can write for any audience with the right tools ! Your tools here , in this book being Lawrence and Toni!
Sparks were evident when we met these two in the first book,” The Immortal’s Temptation”, and so thrilled to see them come together …
For fellow readers of the paranormal , YOU NEED TO READ THIS SERIES!!
And of you want to know more about these families , how they csme to be ” here” read about them in “The Border Series ” also by Cecelia Mecca!Cecelia Mecca
OMG! I thought the first book in the series (The Vampire’s Temptation) was hot with swoon-worthy Kenton. This book which features Lawrence is as panty-melting. Though Lawrence is the opposite of Kenton, you can’t help but fall in love with him as well. He is so sweet and romantic but also very dangerous to his enemies. I thoroughly enjoyed his story. I cried for him and I cheered for him. And I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Especially now that there is a mystery added. #TeamKenton and #TeamLawrence!
This is the second book In the Bloodwhite series and I loved it more than the first book. Cecelia Mecca keeps getting better and better. Her characters are wonderfully written. Lawrence and Toni’s chemistry sizzles. After reading the first book I was hungry, no pun intended, for more sexy vampires. The sleepy little town of Stone Haven will never be the same. I had to stop reading only to sleep but would wake up and start reading. I can’t say enough about how much I loved this book. There is swoon worthy romance, self-forgiveness , mystery, an evil boyfriend and love. I’m sure after reading this you’ll want a Lawrence for yourself. I highly recommend this and gladly rate it five stars. I can’t wait for the next one! I was gifted this book and am voluntarily reviewing.
This series just keeps getting better! I liked the first book in the series, but I loved every minute of this book. So yes, I may be partial to hot Scottish men but this one is a vampire and so swoon worthy. I could not put it down because I wanted to know what was coming next. I am the type of reader who tries to figure everything out before it happens. This series has such a fresh approach to the vampire theme that it keeps me guessing.
The main characters are a breathtaking, sandy-haired, green-eyed vampire who is ready to step down from leading and a pretty, red-headed, brown-eyed woman who thinks she has no real path in life. Both of them are a little lost and have common issues even though one has been a vampire for 700 years and the other is a mere mortal. I love the HEAT between Lawrence and Toni!
I enjoy that the author gives this couple an hea but I still have so many questions about some of the other characters introduced and where the story will go next. I also liked revisiting the lives of the characters from the first book. I will definitely be following this series so I can see how some of questions get answered.
Toni O’Neill has just dumped her boyfriend after finding him cheating on her. None of her friends liked him, so she should really have admitted before that he was no good. She had recently been feeling attracted to someone else herself.
Lawrence Derickson is one of two vampires in town. They have come to an uneasy truce after centuries of being enemies. That is because the woman he came to town to protect.
It’s her bestfriend however that tempts him to settle in town.
An exciting paranormal romance with great characters and plenty of humour.
Although you could read this book on it’s own it’s better to read the series in order to understand the back story to it.
I will definitely be reading all of the series asap.
Great fun.
Cursed with immortality, Lawrence Derrickson still holds the position of chief of Clan Karyn, a responsibility he never wanted. Although his clan now only includes his two siblings, they are committed to protecting the Cheld, descendants of his later brother with the potential to develop superhuman powers and become vampire hunters. In helping fledgling Cheld Alessandra Fiore, he met her best friend Toni O’Neill. Though he felt a connection to her, she already had a boyfriend.
Even though she’s not a Cheld, Toni feels drawn to Lawrence as well but keeps telling herself he’s off limits; she already has someone who’s safe, if not particularly thrilling or even a great catch. Plus Lawrence is a vampire and that’s sure to complicate any relationship.
Lawrence is starting to feel the weight of all the unwanted responsibility he has carried for years and he’s ready to settle down. Toni is struggling with the approach of her 30th birthday and the fact that she still doesn’t really know what to do with her life. But her boyfriend accepts her and doesn’t judge her for never going to college and she’s afraid to rock the boat. But she can’t get Lawrence out of her head and he can’t stop thinking about her either, so when he relationship comes to a screeching halt the sparks between them are inevitable. When danger threatens the peace Lawrence craves, he must decide if he’s even really free to follow his heart over his duty.
I’ve never really been much of a paranormal reader until this series but I’ve loved it so far. I thought the idea of a rather reluctant heroine whose loyal to, if not necessarily in love with, someone else was an interesting angle to begin from. I loved both main characters when they appeared in the previous installment of the series and was rooting for them to be together. Lawrence’s longing to have a home again reminds us that he’s a vampire because of a terrible curse and after hundreds of years of leadership and that he’s never quite gotten over the death of his older brother. Lawrence is tired and his need to be settled was very endearing, as was his determination to show Toni how she deserves to be treated. Toni’s development of her sense of self-worth, and really just self in general, was fantastic. Of course Lawrence makes typical male mistakes, but he’s so sweet and protective and good at apologizing that it’s hard to stay mad at him.
This book was quite different from the first but no less enjoyable. I do think it leaves us with more loose ends than its predecessor did; there was definitely a lingering sense of some danger after I’d finished. I can’t wait to see where this series goes next.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Let me begin by saying that I find nothing more sexy than an emotional stare that speaks volumes on a man’s intentions. And what’s even sexier….when that man is a gorgeous blonde-haired, green-eyed vampire! Add to that this author’s capability to put you directly into the scene to witness what her characters are discovering is a toe-curling experience.
If you haven’t read Book 1 (The Vampire’s Temptation), I would implore you to do so. Not because this book isn’t a stand-alone read, but so that you get the full experience of the two vampires involved in these stories.
This author can’t write fast enough for me, I’ve contemplated offering to watch her kids and clean her house so she has more time to write. (Kidding, but then again…not.) She’s quickly become one of my favorite authors and I’d a read a menu if she wrote it.
This story involves a 700 year old vampire, chief to the Scottish Clan Karyn who descends upon Stone Haven to protect a Cheld who will soon be awakened (in book 1) but is drawn to her best friend Toni. But there’s a problem, she has a boyfriend.
Toni is aware of the two vampires that have purchased the only mansions in Stone Haven and fights her attraction to the blonde-haired, green-eyed hunky vampire she cannot ignore. The way he stares at her forces bodily reactions even though her mind is rejecting them.
I do not offer spoilers so you’ll have to read the book to find out what happens but just know it’s unlike any other vampire series out there. It’s fresh, imaginative, humorous, and so believable it makes you want to visit Jim Thorpe, PA to get a personal feel of the town in this author’s inspiration.
What I love most about this series is that there are no cliffhangers (Thank God!) but the author leaves just a few issues open that will find you buying the next book. Guaranteed! I was gifted with an ARC and wanted to leave a review.

Great characters, well written well paced story & two people whose feelings for each other reach out to you. Lawrence & Toni are meant for each other but their fledgling relationship can only progress once she’s free. Lawrence is sigh worthy, I fell for him in earlier books & so glad he’s found his soul mate even if it’s taken him seven hundred years to do so. Toni is feisty but in many ways adrift. I loved that they were each able to let the guilt go. I’m now eagerly awaiting the next instalment as there are some loose ends
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
How to find love with a 700 year old vampire. I like the romance of Toni and Laurence. Both suffering from survivor guilt and help each other to love and live again.
A fantastic follw up in the Bloodwite series, this book explores the character of Lawrence, and his infatuation for the best friend of his former enemy, Toni. The romance is beautifully paced, the characters are fantastic. The storytelling is fabulous. I love the gorgeous settings, and Lawrence as an old Immortal romancing and courting a modern human is simply wonderful, and heart melting.
So many vampire stories have the same old themes, but the Bloodwite series by Cecelia Mecca puts a refreshing new spin on the story with exciting and steamy results. Dr. Mecca has abandoned some of the standards like garlic and avoiding sunlight and has created a fascinating Scottish myth and curse from 1274 that created a race of vampires as well as the Cheld who are protected by some of the vampires, but who can turn into vampire hunters themselves. This starts a great conflict over the 700 years that some have lived. In Immortal’s Salvation, the tale continues with Lawrence, usually protecting the Cheld, falling for a mortal woman Toni, who happens to have a jerk boyfriend. What I love about the stories is that they are set in a small town in Pennsylvania, not some drafty castle in Europe, and it could happen in your town too. It is difficult for vampires to settle in a town and not be found out, since they do not age and have special speed and abilities. And they must feed on human blood.
While both books stand alone, you will want to read The Vampire’s Temptation as well to get the wonderful love story between Kenton and Alessandra. These books are incredibly romantic and the sexual tension (vampires are so sexy with lots of animal attraction going on) is wonderful in these steamy tales. This is also a story about guilt and vengeance and family ties. And there is danger and intrigue in the worldwide battle between vampires and the Cheld that is always a threat to their peace. I could not stop reading
