A few hours ago, Sherry Carne would have sworn that vampires didn’t exist. That’s before rogue immortals rampage through her store, leaving bloody chaos (literally) in their wake. The kicker comes when Sherry learns that one of the vamps on the bad guys’ trail may be her life mate. Her head says it’s impossible. The rest of her takes one look at Basileios Argeneau and has much more interesting … ideas.
Whatever Basil expected in a life mate, funny, outspoken Sherry isn’t it. But mind-blowing chemistry and instinct don’t lie. They tell him something else, too—that Sherry’s connection to the immortal world goes deeper than she knows. And that she’s in the kind of danger only Basil can save her from—if she’ll just trust him, now and forever…

The heroine: Sherry Carne – owns a store that sells kitchen appliances, gadgets and everything you could possibly need in a kitchen. She has worked very hard from the time she was in college to make her store a success and it is.
The Hero(es): Basileios Argeneau – an immortal who is over 3000 years old, born in Atlantis where they were technologically advanced. Atlantis is where the nano’s were created that heal them from nearly everything and keep them at the age of about 25, but require more blood than the body is able to produce to keep working. Basil is on the north American council and is the brother of Lucian who is the head vampire in charge.
The Story: Sherry is minding her own business in the office of her store when a teenage girl runs through the store and into the office. She hides behind the wall and sneaks peeks through the one way window to the store. Sherry sees men enter who are looking for the girl. So she tries to help the girl get away.
Sherry finds out the men were vampires and the young woman tells her she is as well and she has a surprise for sherry which turns out to be an extremely handsome and somewhat formal speaking man. Sherry also finds out that she is possibly the fated mate of the sexy man and that they have to keep her with them for her safety.
I liked this story because it flowed well and though Sherry seems to take everything well at first she kind of freaks out in her head a few times at all the crazy information she finds out. It is also pretty funny that all the immortals she encounters (except Basil) can read her mind and do so often especially when she is freaking out.
The romance was great, the book was steamy and I liked the side stories about the no-fanger’s that were out to kidnap the girl and about the fact that there may have been another immortal in Sherry’s life that she never knew about.
The narration was fine, but I like dual narration with a female and a male narrator. So I take off one point for the narration. I will definitely continue to read more from this series. I like that each can be basically read as a stand-alone since I started at book 30 and am now jumping around to whatever books sound interesting to me. I don’t know why but I like when the male is the immortal/vampire better than when the female is.
Brilliant with humorous aspects HEA
I read The Immortal Who Loved Me in paperback when it first came out & I’m so glad I brought the audio & reread it as I did forgot the end of the story & what happened to Leonius the No Fanger the Son of Basha.
But we started off where young Stephanie who was turned by Leo running into Sherry’s office trying to hide from Leo & his sons whom are trying to recapture her & she sees the horror of what Leo does & learns about Immortals within minutes of their meeting & Stephanie can feel that She is the Lifemate of Lucian’s younger brother Basileios ‘Basil’ who came to Toronto from New York for Katricia his daughter’s wedding, NOT expecting to find his Lifemate after millennia.
So it’s NOT ALL just terror sexual Lifemate appetite, its the eye opener of who the people who’s been in Sherry’s life aren’t whom she thought they are when she hears who her birthday father Really is….
Brilliant
Always love Lindsay Sand’s paranormal stories and this did not disappoint. Not only does she have strong women, but in this case Pet is even capable of fighting off an attack from an .immortal. Petronella (Pet) is a twin who experienced a run in with immortals as a young child when her birth mother married an immortal. So she recognized the silver eyes and knew what it meant. She meets a very ancient immortal, Santo, who eventually lets her know they are life mates. The story deals with a rouge immortal that several Enforcers have been hunting. Several of the Enforcers are staying in the house next door to Pet’s sister’s house. . .the one they are hunting is on the other side of the Peter house. The meeting with the Enforcers, the questions about a life mate and the “adventure” to the final resolution is eventful, fast paced and captivating. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
