“A few weeks ago, I never considered that we had any who weren’t loyal to the Hunt.” Freda’s features are taut with strain. “We need to deal with the reality that is, not what we wish it to be”’
This, the second book of the Unseelie Court series, was a whirlwind, with its center being Nic Rutherford and her life as The Immortal Queen of the Unseelie Court, if she can survive the gauntlet by making the right choices.
And what choices they are! Already floored by the loss of her BFF, Nic must care for those in the Divine Hunt, those she will return triumphantly to their true home. Aiden, disgraced god and called to watch over her is getting closer to her. Will the choices she makes put him in danger? Will she have the confidence and courage to do what she must and take on the gauntlet that will seal her fate as an immortal?
I was blown away by the first book in Hart’s trilogy, not thinking this could get any better. However, only because my ereaders ran out of power I read this in two days…instead of one! It simply blew me away. NicRutherford’s character broadens and deepens emotionally, intellectually and physically, making her one of my favorite YA characters in the past few years.
Bring on book 3 please! Highly recommended 5/5

What can I say about the fantastic second book in Unseelie Court. Jennifer L. Hart has created characters of such depth that I hurt for their pain. Her intricate blending of fantasy, mythology, and human life creates a tale that is gripping and brilliant.
In The Immortal Queen, Nic enters the Gauntlet to gain immortality in her quest to achieve her destiny as Queen of the Shadow throne and right the wrongs of first her rule. In doing so, she must face her greatest fear and pain. She still battles her feelings for Aiden which she sees both as a weakness in herself and a danger for him.
Wow, wow, WOW!!
I thought this was so freakin’ good! The first book was amazing, but this one gave me so many feelings.
First, it is not a standalone. You have to have read The Goodnight Kiss, otherwise you are lost. And although Nic is 16, this is not a YA story. It is not a fairytale! It is filled with fey and other beings and not in a nice way. But I loved it. – MIGHT HAVE SPOILERS BELOW –
It picks up a couple of months after book 1, when Nic is training hard to go through the gauntlet, to become immortal again and take her place as Queen of the Unseelie Court. But Nic is not Nicneven, is she? Does she want to have her old life back? Can she make up for old mistakes?
Aiden, her wolf, is at her side. But when they travel back to Underhill, across the Veil, can he stay with Nic? The story is so complicated and beautiful, I was sometimes moved to tears. Aiden… oh Aiden…. my heart broke for him at more than one moment.
Nic is total badass. You wouldn’t think she is a 16 year old. She is smart and cunning and has a good heart, even when she is a serial killer hahaha.

Some quotes:
‘I mean it. If you think he is using you as some sort of substitute, kick his furry ass to the curb. You deserve someone who will love you for the little sociopath you are. ‘
‘There’s a sound, like the shattering of glass as I run for the exit … It isn’t until I’m through the portal that I realize what the sound was. My heart, breaking into a million pieces. ‘

I am a fan of the ‘mysteries with hart’ this author writes. But this series is on a different level. I am moved by this story and can’t wait for the next!
Love, love, love Aiden.
But Nic is getting on my last nerve.

Wow!! I am really enjoying this series. The Immortal Queen by Gwen Rivers (Jennifer L. Hart) is the second installment of the Unseelie Court. This story picks up were the last left off with Nic still trying to recover from losing her best friend and get back to normal. There is so much character depth and emotion, the writing is just great. Amazing mix of Norse and Faery. The twists along the way will have you on the edge of your seat! I was hooked, reading along as Nic battles both her feelings for Aiden and her decisions about being queen of the Shadow throne. Cant wait for the next book!!
The Unselie Court trilogy is a must read. So much is happening in this second book that it was hard to put down. Seriously this story is just getting better and better. Such a well written YA Urban Fantasy that Ms. Rivers created with fabulous characters and a great worldbuilding that you will be glad to have sink you teeth into. Book 3 can’t come soon enough i need my Nic & Aiden fix ASAP.
I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook format of this book too and you should definitely give it a shot. Kate Marcin did an amazing job bringing life to this story and i think she has a beautiful voice that i could listen too all day long.
I received a free copy of the ARC via Booksprout and the audiobook from the author. This is me leaving a volontarily and honest review for both formats.
This book picks up where the previous one left off. I liked the pacing of this story and enjoyed it. Beware, this one ends with a cliffhanger. I am looking forward to finding out how the cliffhanger is resolved.

An Absolutely wonderful book well written character development is spot on world building is great. This is a cant go wrong read I’m looking forward to the next books coming out to be able to finish the series and learn what becomes of the characters.
This second book is just as wonderful as the first, but HOLY CLIFFHANGER BATMAN!!! No way to read this one without being desperate for the next. Since the books are excellent, that’s not a bad thing. Great original plot, wonderful characters, and excellently written. I received a free review copy of the audio version of this book in exchange for an honest review.
