‘A really intelligent, moving book.’
‘Sensitive with beautifully crafted characters that you really cared about.’
‘The Illegal Gardener’ is a story of betrayal, love, trust and friendship. Not a romance but perhaps a lesson in life on just how young minds can be damaged by spite or thoughtlessness, and how those same minds can be repaired by true friends.’
‘I was captivated from the start unable to put the book down.’
‘The Illegal Gardener’ is a delightful story, filled not only with love of Greece but a deep understanding of the varieties of love which can bring people together.’
‘reminiscent of Remains of the Day.’
‘The author has huge potential and if she keeps writing and developing like this then I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see her name on a future Man Booker list!’

A beautiful story with many layers. Evocative and thought provoking.
A light, easy to read, romance. A break from more intellectual reads. A sweet book with a happily ever after ending.
Good read.
I just couldn’t get through this book. Half way through I had to quit.
Great read that is with a different story line. Loved it!
Realistic, a view into another world, and the thoughts of two very different people who somehow found common ground and became friends. Highly recommend.
This was my first book by Sara Alexi and I really enjoyed it. Good characters who grew and learned from each other.
What a wonderful author to create a believable, fascinating, entertaining book set in Greece that teaches us about living in that Greek area at that time, about the stresses and horrors of being an undocumented worker trying to survive and support the family left behind as a stranger in a strange land. Without preaching ever this book taught me …
I love this series. Love the author
Very pleasant read. I will confess it left me pondering issues of illegal workers a bit more than I expected to. Nice, no nasty language, violence or smut
Enjoyed the character and relationship development. Learning about different cultures. Feel good story.
A nice read.
Simple. Could be made into a lifetime movie.
A great beach read. Memorable characters, a daydream plot, and an outcome that works. Not a serious read, but light and lighthearted.

Couldn’t get into it
Very good book.the books that follow were just as good.

I enjoyed the characters in this book. It is written so that you care what happens to them and is a very satisfying story.
Simply one of the best books I have read this year….I felt as though I knew the characters and was so happy to find out there is a whole series of books by this author. I feel as though I had spent the time actually staying in Greece, the author did a great job sharing the essence of the place she wrote about. This is a great read when you want …
