Included on The Skimm’s 2020 list of Eight Books Both You and Mom Will Love “The sleeper hit of the pandemic . . . . There is no escapism like reading about a nearly middle-aged woman embarking on a glittering, global love affair with a thoughtful young sex god . . . . It’s electric, triumphant to read.” —Vogue.com “An OMG page-turner.” —Gabrielle UnionSolène Marchand, the thirty-nine-year-old … Union
Solène Marchand, the thirty-nine-year-old owner of an art gallery in Los Angeles, is reluctant to take her daughter, Isabelle, to meet her favorite boy band. But since her divorce, she’s more eager than ever to be close to Isabelle. The last thing Solène expects is to make a connection with one of the members of the world-famous August Moon. But Hayes Campbell is clever, winning, confident, and posh, and the attraction is immediate. That he is all of twenty years old further complicates things.
What begins as a series of clandestine trysts quickly evolves into a passionate and genuine relationship. It is a journey that spans continents as Solène and Hayes navigate each other’s worlds: from stadium tours to international art fairs to secluded hideaways in Paris and Miami. For Solène, it is a reclaiming of self, as well as a rediscovery of happiness and love. When Solène and Hayes’ romance becomes a viral sensation, and both she and her daughter become the target of rabid fans and an insatiable media, Solène must face how her romantic life has impacted the lives of those she cares about most.

This book is responsible for pulling me back into my love of reading. As my daughter would say it’s 5-stars times infinity. I read this book months ago & I STILL have a book hangover. I have recommended it to countless friends. I can’t say it enough – this book is magical. Yes it’s a romance but it’s so. much. more.
I was originally intrigued by the older woman/younger man trope because I’m double digits older than my husband. And who doesn’t love a boy band? It’s the ultimate pop star fantasy – the lead singer falls for you. Hayes is flirty, mature, thoughtful – he is walking swoon. We should all be as adored as Solene is by Hayes. As she should be – Solene is mesmerizing throughout all her layers: her beauty, her depth, her intelligence, her sensuality, her conflicts. As a 40-something woman I related so much to Solene’s struggles with feeling relevant, feeling seen and heard and valued. It also peels back the curtain on what it really means to be famous including the good – and bad – that goes with it.
@robinnelee is a master. She weaves words together that instantly transport you around the world and into the minds and hearts of her characters. I felt so much of what Solene and Hayes felt. I laughed with them, I cried with them, I loved with them. And what a love they shared (I should mention this book has majorrr steam too). This is a book you MUST read before the movie comes out. Anne Hathaway aside – Robinee Lee is such an incredible storyteller you will do yourself a major disservice if you don’t experience the real Solene and Hayes before seeing it on the big screen.
Quote: “This was only ever supposed to be lunch.” “You,” he said, his voice frayed, foreign. “Me?” “You. You let me unfold you.”
Song for Solene and Hayes: Adore You by Harry Styles (I know, I know – predictable): “You don’t have to say you love me, You don’t have to say nothing, You don’t have to say you’re mine. Honey, I’d walk through fire for you. Just let me adore you.”
I don’t know if I will ever get over this book.
That’s it.
That’s the review.
One of my best reads in 2020. After I read the last page I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
This book!! Read it! I actually read then read it again. Kinda explicit but I promise you will feel these characters. I thought about them for along time, I get the impulse to read it again every time I see it in my library.
So it’s been a few days since I finished reading this book and I still cannot stop thinking about it. Absolutely beautiful writing, a seriously swoony and romantic storyline, fabulous characters, realistic and relatable perceptions and double standards on age, gender and beauty, and an ending that will absolutely crush you. Even though I knew it was coming and I knew it was the most realistic outcome for these two, it was still so raw and hurt so much. So much so, that I am not above begging Robinne Lee to give me a sequel where they get their HEA…please!

A little for out and unrealistic for me, crazy
I loved it! It made me wish I was 20 yrs younger.
It was so entertaining! Read it in one day! Loved the
Interactions & main characters! Didn’t like the ending..
Hopefully, there’ll be a Sequel to this story, where they meet up again, several years later???
The last page was heart breaking.
Loved this book! Great characters and writing. So romantic and sexy.
Escape from everyday tedium.
I usually finish whatever I start. Not this time.
Can’t wait for the conclusion to this story.
Amazing. Perfect. A must read.
loved this book! Hated the ending, does not mean you shouldn’t read. Loved the characters and have found a new book boyfriend! Seriously HOT!!!
It is very improbable. I didn’t care for the “details”! I would only recommend as a fairy tale. Had to see how it ended though.
Loved it
Loved this book! Very easy read and it was so romantic. Not my usual but I kept wanting to know what would happen. I wish they would have a follow up
For some reason I had this story on my TBR but couldn’t remember how it got there. This story was a bit 50 shadish but with a better storyline. True love with a twist. You need to read this!
