A “sharp and funny romantic tale” (O, the Oprah Magazine) from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers.Ellen O’Farrell is a professional hypnotherapist who works out of the eccentric beachfront home she inherited from her grandparents. It’s a nice life, except for her tumultuous relationship history. She’s stoic about it, but at this point, Ellen … She’s stoic about it, but at this point, Ellen wouldn’t mind a lasting one. When she meets Patrick, she’s optimistic. He’s attractive, single, employed, and best of all, he seems to like her back. Then comes that dreaded moment: He thinks they should have a talk.
Braced for the worst, Ellen is pleasantly surprised. It turns out that Patrick’s ex-girlfriend is stalking him. Ellen thinks, Actually, that’s kind of interesting. She’s dating someone worth stalking. She’s intrigued by the woman’s motives. In fact, she’d even love to meet her.
Ellen doesn’t know it, but she already has.

Can’t put down!
I love Liane Moriarty’s books. They’re never so much about the plot as they are about the people and the insight into each wonderfully flawed character. They speak from a woman’s gut, easily delivering that mess of inner self-talk and vague fantasy we all indulge in, but rarely want to acknowledge. I won’t say this story hit the mark as well as her others, but The Hypnotist’s Love Story still fully satisfied my “so I’m not the only one!” quota for a Liane Moriarty novel.
My favorite author never disappoints.
boring
Not much. 2 stars is generous.
I loved all of this author’s books.
Not my favorite of her books. Moved a bit slowly, plot was sometimes too predictable, other times not.
You need a word for thought provoking! This book is funny, the characters are interesting and the issues are thought-provoking!
This was a great, easy read with a compelling story line. Very likeable characters and a great ending!
I always enjoy her books. They are easy reads and characters are interesting.
Not up to her usual high standards.
Lived this book! Kept me entertained and engaged. Easy read!
The perfect book for four rainy days! Very entertaining.
I could really relate to the main character. Moriarty knows how to write about real women. An interesting story about a woman whose new boyfriend comes along with an ex who is stalking him. Sounds like a thriller, but it’s actually realistic fiction.
I love this writer especially because her stories feel fresh, and I love that there is always an underlying lesson or appreciation to be gleaned. This wasn’t as good as her others, but it was still good enough to recommend.
Loved this book.
Loved this!
I love everything Liane Moriarty writes!
This was a great book. The characters were wonderful. Reading each characters view of situations was very interesting!
Not as good as the other books by this author but still worth a read
