What better than to present Constance with the perfect husband, Alexander Wescott, Lord Borin? After all, Katherine has been spying on the … Katherine has been spying on the handsome, wealthy viscount, just to make sure he’s the man she hopes.
Alex cannot understand why he’s under surveillance, but it seems to have something to do with the intriguing Katherine. Rejected for service by England’s spymaster and encouraged to set up his nursery instead, he ought to be searching for a wife. But what wife can compare to the excitement of international espionage? Unless, of course, she’s up for a little espionage herself.

The Husband Mission by Regina Scott is a fabulous historical romance. Ms. Scott has delivered a well-written book. Alexander, Viscount Borin, thinks he’d make a fine spy. Katherine and her helpers have targeted Alexander to become her sister’s husband before her birthday so she doesn’t lose her inheritance. Alexander and Katherine’s story is full of drama, secrets, humor, spice and outstanding characters. I enjoyed reading The Husband Mission and look forward to reading more from Regina Scott soon. The Husband Mission is book 1 of The Spy Matchmaker Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete story, not a cliff-hanger.
This delightful novel begins with Katherine trying to find a husband for her stepsister Constance. Constance must marry by her twenty-first birthday (about six weeks away) or she’ll lose her fortune. Unfortunately the loss of her fortune would affect Constance’s whole family, but she maintains money isn’t important. Katherine’s nickname is The Colonel because she is such a managing person, and Katherine sees Constance’s marriage as the only solution. Katherine has targeted Alex, Lord Borin, as the perfect mate for Constance. But it is Katherine who falls in love with Alex. The author throws in a potential spy in the War Office, a member of the ton who is aiding Napoleon. The book is fun and everyone lives happily after.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and the laugher that came because of the situations so skillfully created. , I hardly put it down until I had finished it and I have moved to the next book. Hope it is as entertaining!
02/03/2021 “The Husband Mission” (nook) is a delightful and sweet romance. Katherine is determined and strong-willed. She has a mission and a plan. Oops!!! Her plan is thwarted! Alex is a gentleman who is considerate of others. I definitely enjoyed this story.
I enjoyed the plot involving Katherine and the Viscount Alexander Wescott, as it was different and had some humor towards the end. Katherine is a capable woman who loves her family and looks out for them as she tries to set up her stepsister with Alexander. It was good to see a perplexed Alexander being drawn into their midst, realizing he enjoyed interacting with them.
Katherine would make anyone a wonderful step sister and a great friend. Having the responsibility of running a family and household at a young age gifted her with organization and details. Only some details get a little side stepped in this wonderful and funny story.
Lovely story! I chuckled here and there. Loved the characters and a respectable story which I enjoyed immensely.
Strong female lead with a fun quirky family, make this an engaging read. There I’d enough intrigue to keep me turning the page long after I should be asleep.
Regina Scott writes a good tale, with characters with some quirks, especially the h. Katherine, who has wonderful organizational skills, which she endeavors to use for the good of her family. The villain, cousin to her step-sister, is pompous and dastardly and easy to hate. The hero, Lord Borin, aspires to do the right thing throughout the story. A well written tale.
The Commander.
Katharine Collins can’t help organizing and taking care of her family. With little time left, she sets up her War Room and organizes her spies to find the perfect husband for her step-sister. If Constance doesn’t have a husband by the time she turns twenty-five, her inheritance will fall into the greedy hands of their cousin, Lord Templeton. Alexander Westcott, Viscount Borin is falling into Katherine’s husband trap. Only he’s not interested in Constance, but Katherine. There are murmurs of a spy in London sending secrets to the continent. With a war waging, the spy needs to be found. When rumors implicate Alex, Katherine steps in to prove them false. A sweet and very, very funny romance with numerous situations that are LOL.
A little too predictable.
This is the first book from Regina Scott I’ve read so I really had no idea what to expect except, once in a while, I enjoy Regency Romances. Needless to say, it’s been a long time since I’ve read one that was so G rated. The teaser was exciting, the story line was a bit dry for me but that could just be a personal opinion. Katherine was a hoot with tons of personality. I can’t say the same for Alex. He definitely didn’t show much in the way of a strong Alpha male but I’m hoping he develops more in the next book. Overall, it was a good story.
All of the above and good plot twists. Very enjoyable read.
Alexander Westcott, Lord Borin, is certain he is being followed, but cannot discover why. The trail leads him to the Collins household where Miss Katherine Collins attempts to interest him in her stepsister, Constance. Is there something more behind Lord Borin’s shadows, or will the truth destroy a love meant to be?
“The Colonel”, Katherine’s nickname in the household, had me amused from start to finish. She manages everything she can to ensure the nest for her family. Of course, this leads to trouble, and the perfect husband for her stepsister might be more perfect for her than she realizes.
Lord Borin, eager to be of use to Lord Hastings (a spymaster), sets out to discover not only who is spying on him but also the veracity behind the rumors circulating that there is a spy among the ton. He has more desire than skill for the job, but he manages to keep me amused just as much as Katherine did.
For a sweet Regency Romance with a touch of mystery, this would be an excellent choice.
I loved this book. It was a great fun read. The characters were likable and fun, and the plot had me giggling a lot. I like light regency romances and this one was superb.
Our heroine got herself into amusing situations. She thought she had chosen the right man for her step sister, but the best laid plans usually change.
A good clean romance. Kudos to the author
I really liked reading this book. The characters and what they did together was very entertaining and i could picture myself right there with them.
Was a great story line. I liked the bravery and strength of the female characters.
I enjoyed this book immensely. The story was well crafted and the characters described to perfection. I always love a happy ending.
