#1 In the entire Kindle StoreFrom USA Today Bestselling author L.J. Shen comes a new, fun, steamy standalone about a notorious playboy and the nerdy girl who brings him to his knees.Boston’s debauched elite is going up in flames, and it’s the Fitzpatrick family that set it on fire.ʜᴜɴᴛᴇʀI didn’t mean to star in a sex tape, okay?It was just one of those unexplainable things. Like Stonehenge, … just one of those unexplainable things.
Like Stonehenge, Police Academy 2, and morning glory clouds.
It just happened.
Now, my ball-busting father is sentencing me to six months of celibacy, sobriety, and morbid boredom under the roof of Boston’s nerdiest girl alive, Sailor Brennan.
The virginal archer is supposed to babysit my ass while I learn to take my place in Royal Pipelines, my family’s oil company.
Little does she know, that’s not the only pipe I’ll be laying…
Sailor
I didn’t want this gig, okay?
But the deal was too sweet to walk away from.
I needed the public endorsement; Hunter needed a nanny.
Besides, what’s six months in the grand scheme of things?
It’s not like I’m in danger of falling in love with the appallingly gorgeous, charismatic gazillionaire who happens to be one of Boston’s most eligible bachelors.
No. I will remain immune to Hunter Fitzpatrick’s charm.
Even at the cost of losing everything I have.
Even at the cost of burning down his kingdom.

The Boston Belles has Started off with one hell of a bang!! This book was incredible. From the banter, the Witt, hilarious sexual innuendos and the strength between Sailor & Hunter. I couldn’t put it down. The tug and pull of who is truly the hunter and who is the prey?
Hunter and Sailor are two one of kind characters. Hunter I knew since ASH was something special, he’s what I adore; a pretty playboy who’s broken. Hunter is falling apart on the inside and uses alcohol and girls to cover it up. I loved watching him pull himself up from the dirt and rebuilding himself as a strong, successful and smart man with Sailor there giving him hell & help along the way.
Once I hear Sailor would be our heroine in this book I thought initially “ok were gonna get a crazy chick, I mean she is the daughter of Sparrow & Troy”, right? WRONG!!
I was pleasantly surprised to find out our Boston princess was actually very soft. Not really a mean bone in her body (unless you truly deserved it). She was insecure, a wall flower who hid behind her obsession for archery. I loved watching Hunter pull the fire from her soul and bring out her confidence. She took none of Hunters bs and gave it back ten fold. She was a spitfire and everything Hunter needed.
This feels so much LJ yet different, funnier and lighter but still has the emotion to pull you in and devour your heart. I never thought anyone might beat our previous Viscous & Millie, but Hunter and Sailor?
They nailed their mark. This is a must read, like seriously.
I’m so exited for the rest of the Belles, it only gets better from here!
5/5 stars
I have been reading romance novels for about 40 years now (hey, I started young). All sizes and genres, I have no specific preference, I have read everything. Now let me tell you that LJ Shen? She is the best. She writes the most captivating stories I have ever encountered. She paints sentences with words, like no one else. Reading one of her books means you step into a roller-coaster ride that eats you up and won’t let you go. She only gets better and better with each book. This is her latest, so her best so far. Please allow yourself the pleasure of reading one of her books!
I’ve got to say, Sailor is unlike any other h that LJ has written and I love that she writes such distinct heroines. These girls are always badass at what they do and I’m here for it. And the hot men, too!
Hunter + Sailor… everything I didn’t know I needed in a story! Not going to lie… I was not a huge Hunter fan until about halfway through, when he finally started seeing Sailor for what she was: an amazing badass chick who knows what she wants and is willing to do what she needs to get it. I loved how this book ties together the world of All Saints High with that of Sparrow! Well done Leigh!!
Enemies to Lovers is one of my favorite genres, this one was a great addition to that. I would have like the characters to be a little older, their ages at times weirded me out, but that’s a personal preference and not a mark against the book. Most of the time I forgot how old they were. Hunter is a playboy rich kid who’s family is tired of trying to rein him in. Sailor is the goody two shoes who’s planning on going to the Olympics. they strike a deal and have to live together for 6 months, what could go wrong?? Lots of humor in this book, great relationship building and the characters were fun to get to know!
4.5 / 5
Shen’s new series ‘Boston Belles’ starts with an interconnection of two worlds presented in her previous books.
Reading about Sailor Brennan and her family was all new to me since I haven’t read ‘Sparrow’ (which I’ll make sure to check out very soon) and I have to say I really liked her character. She’s a badass, determined and sweet girl. She has her goals settled and is ready to conquer!
When it comes to Hunter Fitzpatrick, it was honestly some of his actions that made me take a half star from my initial rating, now that I’ve had the time to collect my thoughts. However, I was able to enjoy his character. He’s flirty, sexy and some of his jocks truly made me laugh.
The main characters start by hating each other. They became friends after a while and, eventually, those feelings grow. Both showed development throughout the story, which I always appreciate.
I was kinda sad when Sailor started showing signs of having feelings for Hunter and he was just on a completely different page, as I gathered from his POVs. However, this book absorbed me completely, I was super eager to get through the chapters and see everything unfolding.
I had a blast reading about the Belles and how they got each other’s back. They’re sassy, funny, and charming women that highlighted the narrative.
I also need to point out that I couldn’t contain my excitement with the cameos, especially Knight and Luna’s. It was so good to read about them again!
The more I read, the more I became fond of this new world! I can’t wait to get to know more about Belle, Persy, and Aisling (& hopefully get a bit more of Sailor) and see who they’re paired up with!
Hunter and his prey
3.5 stars
Hunter and Sailors story is a sort of enemies to lovers semi arranged (as they have to live together ) , new adult romance .
This book book one in a new series by this author but it is also linked to previous books by this author – ‘sparrow’ is about sailors mum and dad , and hunters friends are knight and Vaughn from ‘broken knight ‘ and ‘angry god ‘ (you do not have to have read these other books prior to reading this one!!)
Hunter is the middle child of his billionaire family , he’s promiscuous and careless in his social life , and lands himself in trouble because of it .
His dad gives him an ultimatum – clean up your act or lose your inheritance .
Cue Sailor – sailor is training to be an archer in the olympics – she dedicated to her craft so much that the rest of her life has suffered – she stubborn , feisty and straight as an arrow .
Their chemistry is there and ok but I didn’t feel it so much . I usually love the feeling between the main characters in Shens books but this one didn’t hit me . I found the plot somewhat predictable but still entertaining ! Overall a good read !
I did enjoy being introduced to the new characters and I look forward to reading the stories that have been set up .
If enemies to lovers are your kinda romance then you’re in for a real treat. I absolutely loved Hunter!! I think he maybe my favorite so far.
Hunter gets caught in a sticky situation thanks to his playboy life style. Now he must face the consequences of his actions.
Sailor is offered the one thing she wants most in life but nothing is ever free. To get what she’s worked so hard for she’ll have to babysit Hunter for six months.
This story has a smoking hot alpha male, a sassy Sailor, and a great plot. Throw in some steamy bits and a little danger and this story is PERFECTION.. I can’t wait for more from this series.
Sailor and Hunter. Wow. What can I say but their dynamic is explosive with lots of push and pull that makes for a fun and engaging angsty read. I really loved the emergence of some previous characters (not telling because well… spoilers), and learning how they relate to Hunter and Sailor. I wanted to hate Hunter, I truly did try very hard. I was team Sailor all the way from the start. In the end, Hunter charmed me, despite his truly crude ways.
I enjoyed this book and found it hard to put it down. Once again LJ Shen not only tells a story, but created a world in which I am hopelessly hooked. I am greedily awaiting her next installment of this series with baited breath.
Okay this one is about a notorious playboy and the nerdy girl. Hunter is a young, rich, with all the women at his fingertips. He knows it and has no problem with the label manwh**e. Hunter’s family is wealthy and image is extremely important especially since their youngest son is slate to join the family business. What did Hunter do? Get caught staring in a sex tape. Old daddy is pissed. He decided this is the last draw – Hunter is going to shape up or risk losing his inheritance. Daddy enlisted Sailor to be Hunter’ baby sitter for six months. Sailor is smart, driven, no funny business attitude. Sailor is not easily charmed … will she succumbs to Hunter’ tactic? So, I adore Sailor – nice girl, sassy but kind, sweet and perfect for Hunter. I feel bad but I did not like Hunter the same. I will blame this entirely on my age but Hunter is too young and a bit too immature and unpredictable. Just when I thought I might like him he goes and do something “bad” again. Hunter redeemed himself at the end but maybe a little too late Here is the thing though … if you love bad boy who turns his life around and found HEA? Hunter might be is a perfect hero for you. Over all, I like plot. The bad boy alpha hero – the author got it down pat. I like slow burn, push and pull enemies-to-lovers romance. I love the playful banters. The Hunter is a first book of the Boston Belles series and it was fun and entertaining. Can’t wait to see who’s next.
Oh how I loved The Hunter! L.J. Shen is back with a new series and she starts it off with a bang. The characters, the setting, the plot…..they all come together to create a story that is completely addictive.
I fell hard for Hunter. This misunderstood boy truly broke my heart. He was so multi-layered and as Shen peeled away his layers, I found myself more and more enamored with him. What you see on the surface doesn’t even begin to touch the man underneath! Sailor was focused, strong and driven. I loved watching her blossom. Sailor and Hunter were made for one another. The sparks were intense and plentiful while their hate-love drove the story higher and higher.
Shen definitely brings the heat and sizzle in The Hunter. And let me just say that Sailor and Hunter are ON. FIRE. Talk about sexy times. Whew! Shen also does what she does best and drops some serious bombs throughout. I couldn’t put this story down, especially in the last half of the book. I was ADDICTED! I cannot wait to see who gets the next book in this amazing new series. Every character had me intrigued. 5 stars
This book wasn’t what I expected. I was curious about Hunter story but not that curious and I haven’t even noticed him before on the series but I was curious nevertheless.
Hunter Fitzpatrick was for me the party boy friend, the one you always invite but you don’t even care because he’s not boyfriend material.
He only cares for himself, to have a drink on his hand and a girl on the other one. Pretty boy that has all the money he wants. Nothing else.
But when a sex tape is leaked and he has to go to Boston in order to save his inheritance. He didn’t expect to find love and a purpose in his life.
Sailor Brennan never expect this proposal, to babysit Fitzpatrick’s rogue wasn’t on her plans but she could use some help in order to go to the Olympics. She was pretty sure she won’t fall for Hunter’s charm. But as soon as she knows him, the real him, she knew she’ll be the pray for The Hunter.
I love how Hunter’s life has turned 360 degrees and although it sound like a cliche Sailor did change him. Both learn how to deal with their insecurities together. And that was lovely. I love the plot twist regarding Hunter’s childhood and how at the end it all makes sense.
Can’t wait to read more about this series, I’m so intrigued about Cillian…..
I’m glad to see Hunter get his book. I never expected his book to like this and that’s a good thing. It was so much more… I’m looking forward to diving into the Boston Belle series.
“The girl wondered what would happen if the sun kissed the moon. She had no idea she’d find an answer to that question one day. Or that the person to give it to her would be that very lonely boy. “
Ok. So I admit that I was nervous going into reading The Hunter based on other reviews. Which is silly because I love LJ Shen. But I took some time after the release to read some other books and then started The Hunter with the negative reviews out of my mind. And you know what? I’m glad I read this. I actually enjoyed this book. It wasn’t a book like Broken Knight that had me crying. No. This book was hilarious! And refreshing!
“ It was funny how Hunter believed he was dumb, and I believed I was unattractive—and that these opposite sources of insecurity made us enemies.”
What happens when you take a broken boy who felt unloved his entire life and masks his emotion with sex, partying, and f***ing off in life?
And pair him with a girl who simply doesn’t live enough? Who hides behind baggy clothes and her archery and quick witted sarcasm?
You get the Hunter and the prey.
“Hunter wasn’t stupid at all. He just built walls upon walls around himself that made it difficult to get through to him, because in his experience, people weren’t there to stay.”
I have to say, I really liked Hunter. I know many critics were harsh with him but I mean… Vicious was WAY more evil. And the boys we all know and loved.. have done crazy things in retaliation. Hunter simply gave up on taking life seriously and did what he thought he was best at.. I felt like LJ Shen showed us the good in Hunter pretty early into the book.
And I loved the “red headed banshee” Sailor keeping up with his Antics and sarcasm.
My favorite was seeing other characters we know and loved like Knight and Luna, Sparrow and Troy and even Sam!!
(By the way.. I’m claiming him. He’s mine).
“We didn’t talk about what we were. What we weren’t. We just existed: a butterfly and a man who appreciated beautiful things.”
I felt like this book was different. It wasn’t angsty. It wasn’t heart wrenching. It was a little bit of suspense, held a lot of laughter, and you find yourself happy for two young adults finding themselves through each other and ending up in love.
It was great. I’m rooting for Cillian and Sam to get their own book!
LJ Shen fans are obsessed with her latest new adult hero! The Hunter is a new adult enemies-to-lovers romance with all the emotions!
“Here was a man who may have been a joke in his own family, but to everyone else, he was a deity, and I didn’t want to join his religion. I didn’t want to worship him.”
Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I found myself on the fence. The hero AKA Hunter Fitzpatrick was self absorbed, lacked morals and had me cringing at his behaviour. Not sure how he did it but he managed to redeem himself and I felt sympathetic towards him. I absolutely loved Sailor she was strong willed, sassy and yet doubted herself. They were a perfectly flawed pair, who fought their union in true enemy style, but complimented each other. This was a well thought out storyline and witnessing the characters banter was lots of fun. All set around family drama, suspense, sexual tension and tons of angst.
After embarrassing his family, by starring in a sex tape which had gone viral, Hunter finds himself being babysat by a nerd. His punishment, to get through six months celibacy and toeing the line, whilst attending college and working in the family company. His smugness thinks he is going to be able to sweet talk Sailor into turning a blind eye…he’s in for a shock though.
Sailor has her eye on competing in the next Olympics in archery. She lives and breathes the bow and arrow, dreams of earning a gold medal and won’t let any one get in her way. Now she has to keep an eye focused on Hunter and her coach is not to happy about her being distracted by a man. He has nothing to worry about though because she won’t be kneeling at his feet.
LJ Shen delivers again with what seems to be effortless magic. Every book I read of hers, I seem to love more than the last. The Hunter is the first in a new series called The Boston Belles which already seems just as good and entertaining as both the All Saints High and Sinners of Saint series.
The book opens the morning after another party at Vaughn’s house, one of Hunter’s best friends along with Knight. Both of their stories are told in the All Saints High series. They wake Hunter up to inform him that his sex escapades the night before have been caught on film and made available to the public. This brings hell down on Hunter’s life in the form of his very angry and disapproving father threatening to remove him from the family will which includes a rather hefty inheritance.
One thing I love about Shen’s stories is she always includes little cameos with characters from previous books. Insert Sailor Brennan who is the daughter of Sparrow and Troy Brennan from Shen’s mafia book, Sparrow. Troy Brennan is a “fixer” in Boston’s underworld and is kept on retainer by Hunter’s father, Gerald Fitzpatrick. Sailor is an awkward, sort of unsocial girl whose only care in the world is competitive archery. She dreams of going to the Olympics and winning gold as an archer but she has competition when it comes to winning the last spot on the American Archery team.
Gerald Fitzpatrick comes up with a plan for his son to prove his worth and place in the Fitzpatrick family. He has to live with Sailor for six months. There will be no alcohol and absolutely no sex. He will go to business school at night and work during the day at Royal Pipelines, the company that made the Fitzpatrick clan multi-billionaires. Sailor becomes his glorified babysitter and roommate and in return receives complete financial backing in order to be successful in her bid for the Olympics.
Hunter and Sailor are definitely my favorite couple. Hunter meets her as a 100% playboy who greatly underestimates Sailor. She is a unique, redheaded spitfire who is deadly accurate with a bow and arrow. When you look past the playboy image, the real Hunter is a surprise. I loved getting to know the real man behind the public image. Some of his language had me gritting my teeth while others kept a smile on my face followed by quite a bit of laughter. It was really easy to become endeared to him. Watching him struggle so hard with his family in his desire to just be accepted had my heart bleeding for him several times. Hunter and Sailor were each rather skilled at seeing and bringing out the best in each other.
There were so many parts of their journey together that I truly loved. I can’t wait to see everyone we are introduced to in the books that come next. This author has created another world that I can’t wait to dive back into again. If you love humor, depth and a bit of suspense, this is the perfect book to pick up. Just be prepared for some rather dirty sexual acts and innuendo.
Swoon-Wothy and HILARIOUS
THE HUNTER is brilliant. Infinite Stars
This book has everything you could ever want in a Romance.
BEST BANTER
Laugh out loud Moments
Angst
A Golden Heart Hero
A Fierce Warrior Heroine
Captivating side characters
HUNTER FITZPATRICK!! There is just something so special about him. He is pure gold. His humor, his banter, his heart. He is literally everything.
I have never met a hero that fits the term FULL PACKAGE as perfectly as Hunter does. ( And no, I’m not just talking about what he has in his pants.) His heart is beautiful, a fellow reader described him as having a heart and soul of pure gold and that’s the best description of him. He is hilarious and can banter with and charm anyone. I could live in his head all day and probably laugh non-stop.
SAILOR BRENNAN is fierce and has a take no prisoners attitude that you just fall in love with. She doesn’t scare easily, doesn’t back down, and is loyal to those she loves. She has a sweet side but she will take you down if she needs too. It was beautiful to see her come out of her shell and embrace and live life.
L.J. Shen did a fantastic job creating this world and setting the stage for the rest of the series.
The side characters are next level brilliant and though they never outshine Hunter or Sailor the intriguing details leave you craving more of them.
This is a MUST read, must re-read, must own paperback.
So excited for the next in the series The Villian. Can’t freakin Wait!
Explosive! Extraordinary! Emotional! Five plus stars! This book was everything!
A hothole alpha male with a huge chip on his shoulder, Hunter is a self proclaimed eternal bachelor. His Dad is sick of bailing him out of the things he gets himself into. When a sex tape surfaces his Dad has officially had it and throws the hammer down. Ultimatums are given and Hunter finds himself back in Boston bending to his father’s will.
Sailor is the daughter of a hit man. She has goals in life and they don’t involve any semblance of a social life or a relationship. When she’s faced with an opportunity to make her dreams a reality faster she has to decide if she should take a chance or continue on the path she’s on.
Sailor and Hunter are complete opposites. Throw them together and you get amazing banter & explosive chemistry. This book grabbed a hold of me and a day after finishing still hasn’t let me go. I don’t know how LJ Shen does it but she cranked out another book to add to my all time favorite books ever. Go get your copy now! Everyone should read this!
Hunter reminded me of Savio from Twisted Hearts. A guy who just couldn’t keep his dick in his pants or basically stay loyal to one person (monogamy). Savio is my LEAST favourite character in the whole word and Hunter is officially right next to him.
Sailor is supposed to be feisty, hmmmmm sure but fell in love with Hunter and then got her heart broken but still goes out of her way to help Hunter with the whole side business related drama…… I mean you could argue with me that she was being mature about the situation because Hunter never really committed to her. I mean you are right, while Sailor was hopelessly falling in love with him, he was looking at nudes some girl sent him and imagining fucking her tits, asking someone to send a video of them touching themselves (jerked off to the video), calling some delivery girl over to flirt around with and let’s not forget the incident with Sailors nemesis. He didn’t deny it, so idk if that really happened but won’t be surprised if it did.
And then just suddenly when Sailor breaks the contract he realises “wait, I don’t want my family money anymore I want Sailor more. Omg why did this happen, why am I realising this now when sailor doesn’t want me anymore”. Well, boo Idk maybe if you stopped thinking about FUCKING OW all the damn time you were with Sailor you might have realised said feelings sooner. Idk that’s just my suggestion but you do you boo since that worked out for you.
And omg I’m confused with Troy, did he really just tell his daughter TO WAIT FOR HUNTER TO CHANGE FROM HIS FUCK BOY WAY. DID HE REALLY JUST ASK TO WAIT FOR A GUY WHO DOES NOT RESPECT HIS DAUGHTER. EXCUSE ME WHY ISNT HE SHOOTING HUNTERS BALLS OFF. Pls tell me I read that scene wrong or something.
In Sparrow, Troy wasn’t perfect he also had OW drama but towards the end he redeemed himself. The ending was the only reason I liked Sparrow. Here, Hunter? I felt like his “grovelling” stage was nothing. Sailor gave in too easily. WHY DID SHE EVEN HAVE TO LIKE HIM. Idk.
“I’d told him I thought I was his dirty little secret, so he’d made a public declaration. In the car back from Maine, he’d asked what it would take. A ring…a contract… And what did I answer? To stop being ashamed of us. This was him proving to me that he never was.”
OMG TOTAL SWOON WORTHY MOMENT HUNTER I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!
Honestly the only reason Hunter was even with Sailor was because he was bond by the contract to be celibate. Like I just didn’t connect with him at all. His inner monologues was supposed to be funny but I just couldn’t laugh or smile because I was too busy being disgusted by him and wanted to knock some sense into Sailor. She deserved so much better than Hunter.
I’m s o confused right now, this book was supposed to be arrange marriage right? That’s what the teasers said? Or did I read it wrong?
Also I’m not a hater of the author here okay? I really have liked some of LJ’s book. She is one of the best authors out there who actually make Alpha assholes drop down to their knees for their love but here I just didn’t see that.
