Willow Myers loves Halloween. So when some college classmates invite her to a party, her best friend encourages her to go and have some “fun”. Not a one-night-stand kind of girl, she doesn’t think it likely. Until she sees sexy in a loincloth. He’s tall, big and half-naked. Just what her dry spell ordered. Dax Birch hates The Hunt. The shifter event to find mates took his last girlfriend. He’s … girlfriend. He’s not looking to be mated anyway. But his family lovingly pressures him into attending. He’s ready to go home until he hears her. And she’s not just funny, she’s hot as sin. His attraction to her charm, sarcasm, and curves is instant. Even without his shifter senses, he knows she’s special. The Hunt finally gets interesting.
Willow and Dax are an unlikely pair, but they’re ready to give this a go and see where it leads. It leads to lots of time out of their clothes. A lot. The twists and turns keep them on their toes. Willow’s life will never be the same boring routine. At least, if she can survive her kidnapping.

Love all Ms. Taiden’s fast-paced steamy reads! Perfect for an afternoon coffee break or waiting in the car line after school! Thoroughly enjoyed it!
A Charming Premise that Sadly Falls Flat… I normally love anything written by Milly Taiden. She is my go-to author for quick and growly alpha reads in-between the longer darker stuff I frequent. She almost never disappoints, as even on her worst literary day she creates books that are quirky, sexy, and flirtatiously entertaining. Her shifters are some of the most protective, self-assured, and strong willed hotties around. Which is why I was surprised at how tame, almost boring, this latest release was.
“The Hunt”, a story about Willow, a struggling single striving to become a teacher after spending most of her 20s caring for her dying mother; and Dax, a wolf shifter and first son of his pack’s ailing alpha. It’s a “second chance at the life” story of sorts, with both lead protagonists longing for lives outside their responsibilities of caring for family. It was charming and heartfelt in premise and had the potential to be an intense Halloween read, but alas it just never gets there, and is not up to the normal Taiden standards I’ve come to love.
It fell flat overall, didn’t contain the intense possessive connection usually present in her stories, and in several places included details seemingly important (like the reference to “Little Greg” by Amy and then the question about caring for kids soon after by Ella, as well as, the reference by Ella to Willow later on after her food binge). All details that appear to hint at bigger plot reveal involving Willow and Dax and the lives they’re meant to live, but instead are quickly forgotten, making their inclusion in the first place a bit confusing.
In the end “The Hunt” was just an okay read, and is in need of some tweaking in my opinion to bring to the level of her other works. Regardless though, Milly Taiden remains one of my favorite “quick reads” authors.
Loved the story line and main characters. The fight scenes and the steamy scenes were kind of anticlimactic. The proofreading was nonexistent.
Another great story that reads quickly! This story reads fast, has a tight plot and characters that are easy to like. The story builds steadily with an instant lusty encounter followed by a growing relationship. Willow is easily the star of the book based on the fuller description, but it’s also easy to get a clear vision o the other characters based on their interactions with her.
great read
Poor Willow. She has had a rough start to life. She gave up her education to care for her sick mother but she never thought of that as a hardship, that’s just what you do for family. Her lovelife needs more than a CPR, it pretty much needs life saving surgery! So when she receives an invitation to a Halloween party her best friend pretty much forces her to go. But she is about to get another education she never thought she would need – one in the supernatural!
Dax may be the alpha but he just wants to live his life. He doesn’t particularly want to find his mate just yet. But he has to take part in the Hunt. By using scent suppressors, the pack get a chance to just have fun with each other, leaving scent markers out of the process. But after finding Willow, Dax is pretty much ready to settle down, who knew his mate would be human!?
Lots of fun to be had. Mean girl gets her comeuppance, good girls finish first, family acceptance and a wrongly delivered invite. Good things come in short packages!
A sweet and sexy Romance. Dax and Willow have an instalove connection that burns up the pages. A whirlwind romance that will leave you reeling.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Hunt by Milly Taiden
Willow is a human that is working towards her teaching degree while working in a bakery.
While in shop a kid hands her a party invitation for a Halloween party at the local pack house but willow didn’t have any clue of shifters.
Dax is the future pack leader and Ella his sister talks him into dressing as Tarzan.
Willow dressed as Morticia goes to party and gets lost in a garden maze which Dax finds her in.
This book get very interesting especially with the use of chemicals to stop shifter abilities so when Dax meets Willow he knows something special about her but doesn’t realise till couple days later that there mates and he tracks her down.
Really enjoyed this book and hopefully more comes of this series especially the enforcer of the pack and Dax sister Ella.
This is another one of her short books. It was a good, quick read where fate seems to let things fall into place. Willow is single and trying to get her degree as a teacher after taking care of her dying mother. She’s aware of shifters but knows nothing about them. Dex is the son of the Alpha and is being pestered to find his mate. The Hunt is actually a Halloween party for shifters, and they all drink a shot that affects their smell. There is a lot of things happening in a short time, so the story seems to be rushed a little. But it’s still one of the author’s good sexy books. I wish it could have been a longer story because I would have loved to read more about Willow and Dex, but I still enjoyed this story. I hope to see more books about the members of Dex’s pack. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from Booksprout.
Willow gets invitation to Halloween party, which she doesn’t want to attend, she is older than her college friends; while all her friends went to college after high school, she stayed home to take care of her sick mother. After listening to her friend and her boss, she decided to go to the party. After getting there, her first thought was, she is at the wrong place, but after few people ask her to stay, she stayed and there is where the fun begin……
I loved this story.
This story was a Fun, Quick read. An invitation to a Halloween party turns out to be a lot more than expected. As always this author keeps it steamy and leaves you wanting more.
Sweet chase of the hunt indeed. These two were thrown together quite unexpectedly and definitely unplanned but who doesn’t like a surprise on Halloween Now to see what’s left after the masks come off.
