a great read
As is usually the case much better than the movie
This is an excellent Tom Clancy novel that has some real world relevance.
A classic of the genre.
The testament to an amazing book is one that you can keep recommending 20 years after you read it. Hunt for Red October is one of those books. It is a masterpiece of Cold War era suspense. The movie is good, the book is fantastically detailed and well worth the read.
Bought this through membership in the Naval Institute when it was first published. Although I enjoyed it I had no idea that it would lead to a franchise that has continued after Clancy’s death.
one of Tom Clancy’s best books.
A great mystery from my favorite author
Classic Tom Clancy…..read this one first!
can you give any Tom Clancy book less thatn 5 stars?

So much better than the movie!!
This was a reread for me. It’s a great story and well worth reading.
Tom Clancy is a master. Was almost impossible to put down.
One of Clancy’s best. Not as long or involved as some of his novels, but full of action. Well worth the read, and a bit more complex than the movie. If you have only seen the movie, the book will surprise you.
A must read for any lover of international thrillers.
