In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death … it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister’s place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to death before-and survival, for her, is second nature. Still, if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

If you like dystopian books, then you will love this. Not recommended for young readers. Parts can be quite graphic.
I finish this book in 2 days! I loved it. I was not a usual dyspotian reader but now turning into it. There is romance in their which just completes the book. You should defilantely read it.

I can’t say enough good about this book and its series. One of my all time faves!!
It’s been a long time since I read something that could make me cry. It encouraged me to try harder with my writing. I can’t wait to read the next two.
This is the best of the series. Hopefully, you read this before seeing the movie.
A suspenseful book and an excellent read
wonderful series! but please, please, please read The Lottery a Short story by Shirley Jackson before it or along with it. It will deepen the experience
This is one of my favorite books, the whole series really. I loved the way Suzanne Collins wrote this book. It is taking a futuristic approach. A friend recommended this series to me and I was not disappointed at all.
I so wish these books would never end! I absolutely adored them and have been doing many re-reads lately. I love how every chapter ends on a cliff hanger and endings that will leave you wondering, yet satisfied.
This book is amazing, and nothing you’ll read can top it. The only thing bad about it is that when you start reading it, you can’t put it down!
I really enjoyed this series. This was the best book of them all. It drew me in and kept me engaged through the whole story.
Loved the whole series – devoured the series in 4 days while on holiday in Sri Lanka!
