In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death … it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister’s place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to death before-and survival, for her, is second nature. Still, if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Truly a Classic! Within my tope five favorite series!
OMG, I love it is the best. I could not wait until the next chapter and I love Peeta and Katness and every character! But I would advise if you do not like blood and death then do not read. but overall please you will be addicted.
I am officially obsessed with this book series. Each book drew me in and held on to me as I gasped for air on every page. Such a fresh and unpredictable story, I couldn’t put it down!
A mainstay book to begin a following for generations to come.
It felt like you were in the arena with them. The dialect is so real.
wonderful book full of great characters and well thought out story line
I LOVED hunger games the challenges and the lovey dovey stuff too ENJOY HUNGER GAMES and may the odds be ever in your favor
Loved this book!!
The story is reminiscent of The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, only multiplied by one-thousand in its horrific-ness. It’s like Survivor on steroids.
The world we know no longer exists. America is quite a bit smaller than the one we live in, it’s broken into twelve (previously thirteen) Districts. Once a year “The Capitol” take the names of boys and girls ages 12-18 and throw their names (many of them multiple times), in to be chosen at random, one boy and one girl.
They’re then taken from the only home, family, and friends they know, with the foreknowledge that more than likely they will never see them again.
This group of 24 children are then pampered, “trained” and thrown into an arena where they will inevitably fight to their deaths. While all this is being broadcasted, with people gambling on the outcomes, and the people in power throw new obstacles and hurdles at them for entertainment value. But this is all to remind people of their places, and that they are to never speak ill of or against the Capitol and their “betters”.
One of my favourite series of books ever
I have this whole set, four books. I even saw the movies. I have to say the books are always better. And Katniss is a true hero to stand against something when she knew it wasn’t right. On the verge of another war, All the districts look to Katniss as their new leader for the civil war against President Snow and the annual Hunger Games.
Loved the first 2 books but was disappointed with the third.
A classic. Great book, great series.
One of the best books I’ve ever read. Once you pick this up you will not be able to put it down!
I love this book I fell in love with after 5 minutes of reading it!!!!!
Great book. Fully recommend.
At this point I’m sure most are familiar with the Hunger Games Trilogy. Regardless, I think that the story is still fantastic. Katniss is a great hero to get behind, even though she is reluctant and deeply flawed. The supporting characters are easy to love, or loathe, and the twists dont dtop until the very last page.
I loved everything about this book. And the rest of the trilogy. Have read it multiple times, have on audio book and have the movies.
Love this entire series. The author is great . Highly recommend
Wow! Interesting concept, scary too. Couldn’t put it down. Way better than the movie.
