The brilliant, chilling debut of Karen White’s New York Times bestselling Tradd Street series, featuring a Charleston real estate agent who loves old houses—and the secret histories inside them. Practical Melanie Middleton hates to admit she can see ghosts. But she’s going to have to accept it. An old man she recently met has died, leaving her his historic Tradd Street home, complete with … home, complete with housekeeper, dog—and a family of ghosts anxious to tell her their secrets.
Enter Jack Trenholm, a gorgeous writer obsessed with unsolved mysteries. He has reason to believe that diamonds from the Confederate Treasury are hidden in the house. So he turns the charm on with Melanie, only to discover he’s the smitten one…
It turns out Jack’s search has caught the attention of a malevolent ghost. Now, Jack and Melanie must unravel a mystery of passion, heartbreak—and even murder.

Absolutely loved it
Wanted more.
Easy to read, historical interest, and interesting characters.
I enjoyed this book so much that when I completed the first book, I immediately bought the second book.
This book is wonderful. It is always great to learn something while enjoying a good story at the same time. I can’t wait to read the next in the series.
Slow moving with a twist that wasn’t a twist. Negative bonus points for a “romantic” lead who is pretty damn sexist. It was a struggle to finnish.
You feel like your there
Very good!
First in a series of 5, I’m currently reading the 3rd one and love the charcters! Melanie inherits a very old house ghosts included.
Southern civil war history, old houses and secrets.
I love Karen White’s books. My daughter recommended her to me and I have enjoyed every book I’ve read by her.
Did not enjoy
This series takes place on a reservation close to where I grew up. I feel like I know the characters.
I enjoyed this book- a good read-suspense until the end.
I really enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down. I actually stayed up late just to finish it and immediately bought the next one in the series.
Fun read!
Excellent
If you love Charleston, as I do, you will love the entertaining intrigue!
A great haunted mystery. Entertaining, easy to read with enjoyable characters.
I found the characters likable, the story was entertaining and there are sequels. I’d like to see the writing style cleaned up a little. It was a little repetitive where it did not need to be, but I would read another in the series.
