It’s the first of a trilogy, somewhat slow-moving, but worth reading.
I usually stick to regency romance books but saw this one and though it looked interesting. There isn’t romance but intrigue, a good story and a lot of excitement as you read. It definitely kept me hooked till the end. I’d recommend it.
It wasn’t what I expected. I liked the story line.
Insight into something I never thought about
This was an interesting book as it gave us a glimpse into life on a poor farm. There were several plot lines that kept me turning the pages. Once you knew the mystery your then had the question of how things would straighten out. The twists kept surprising me along the way.
Great Read!
A testament of the courage and tenacity of the human soul to right the wrongs in her life.
I loved this book. It had just the right amount of suspense and drama and left me feeling good at the end. Of course there will be a sequel to which I am looking forward to.
Thought it was very well written.
I found it interesting and enjoyable
I found myself very invested in Nell. Her character growth over the course of the first book is enlightened in some areas and her lack of growth in others frustrated me—not unlike a real person! Ha! I plan to read at least the next book and see how she faces her next set of challenges. I did not find the pace “slow moving” as others said, but neither is the book written as a murder thriller. I would describe the murder as a subplot of an interesting story.
I enjoyed this and it was a fast read as your attention was held through the pages. Although fictional, there were many true facts/events in it. A factional fiction?!! Any rate, an enjoyable read. I have the second book but not read it yet.
Disappointed that I had continue the stor in another book
Great book
Very good. This is one strong young lady.
Very interesting book reflecting the morals and values of a different period. Lots of unexpected turns in the story.
I enjoyed it b
