This is the only book I’ve ever read where I immediately read it again. All time fav!
I loved this story, and was rooting for the human survivors from beginning to end. Fantastic storyline. Stephenie Meyer
To be completely honest, I believe that chick flicks are written better than action movies. And that is true for the books they were derived from as well. The science fiction aspect of this novel is clean and simple, something to really be appreciated in a galaxy of chaotic sci-fi. The romance is not over developed to chase off the general …
I could and have read this book over and over again. It never gets old and neither does the story. Im a sucker for romance and happy endings and this hit it the spot.
A race of aliens need hosts to survive on planets not their own. They take over the human race, stomping out the consciousness of their hosts.
But Melanie refuses to leave. Wanderer has no idea how to deal with her host – she’s never encountered something like this before. And then she can’t stop the lines between her emotions and that of her …
This is hands down one of my favorite books EVER. It’s a whopper, a little slow building, but 100% worth the time!
I have read this over and over and it never gets old!
Love this book along with her twilight saga !!!!
This story was captivating and incredibly creative. I think this is the only sci-fi book I like! Well written, great characters, great story line. I enjoyed it a lot.
Synopsis in short: An alien species invades the Earth and uses humans as hosts. While the alien usually assimilates the human’s self-awareness, sometimes the human stays conscious in a body that the alien controls. Wanderer, a well traveled alien, is inserted into Melanie, one of the few “wild” humans left on earth, with the order to extract the …
read this a along time ago but do remember really enjoying it. Original idea about the body snatching bit.
I loved this book. I loved the characters, the struggle, conflict and eventual friendship of Wanda and Melanie. Wanda’s confusion about how she wanted to live, her feelings for Jared and growing feelings for Ian, her ambivalence about using other beings to live. Really an interesting, thoughtful, exciting read.
Hesitation is the word I can use to describe going into this book. Why? Because of everything I’ve heard about Twilight. I first saw The Host in movie format. Which I loved also. But in written form there was so much more of a connection between the cast of characters. The story line was properly developed and overwhelming good. I Was waiting for …
I loved this book. When I finished it I immediately read it again. Definitely recommend reading it.
This book portraits the human world so well and intelligent! It’s a must-read!
The first 100 pages are a little hard to get into, but after that you’ll start loving the story!
Really enjoyed this book and the character building, very believable. Don’t miss another great read from Stephanie Myer.
Great story idea, but a tedious, far too drawn-out execution. When you add the sterility of the audio version to this tedium, it is surprising I made it 100 pages in before calling it quits. The voice of the woman who performed this book was clipped, robotic and devoid of any feeling. And yes, I meant to say “performed”, not “read”, since she was …
this book has been out a few years but i only recently came across it. terrific book on a difficult subject.
Read it so many times still feels New
This is Stephenie Meyer’s best book. It has one of the BEST character arcs I have ever read. A character that I hated and despised more than any other character in this book, slowly, and almost stealthily became one of my most favorite characters in any book and genre, and whom I still love so deeply.
I loved it. I wish the author would write a sequel.
