Ellie Sanders is over the fairytale, thank you very much. Content with her booming career as a purveyor of Madame Butterfly pleasure aids, she doesn’t need a man for anything—except maybe marketing tips. And, okay, a few fun nights with something that doesn’t require batteries.
Love, marriage, and family aren’t in the cards for Tyler Hendrix. Period. The Navy helped Ty put his tumultuous … tumultuous childhood behind him, but when a sexy single mom walks through the First Impressions door looking to take her business to the next level, he feels his carefully constructed “never-get-attached” walls crack.
As Ty and Ellie maneuver through a minefield of wardrobe malfunctions, plumbing mishaps, and the world’s most awkward accidental dirty talk, discovering they have more in common than scorching sexual attraction threatens to crumble Ty’s walls for good…
Each book in the First Impressions series is a standalone story that can be enjoyed out of order.

I haven’t read the first two books in the First Impressions series but I’m bumping them to the top of my TBR and reading them ASAP!
This book pulled me in and I finished it in one sitting. These characters are funny and their first meeting had me crying laughing. I loved the interactions and Elle’s son Henry definitely stole the show. I can’t wait to go back and read the other books in this series!
*This is my voluntary review of a second look reader copy*
This book hooked me from that very first conversation about bawling balls that cracked me up and had to read it right to the end!
Even this is the third instalment of the series it is first book ever from Tawna Fenske and I have no idea how did that happen! She jumped right on my list of writers that I have to read.
It is one very likable book with great characters and story that will make you laugh out loud right from the start… it was definitely case with me.
I totally enjoyed from the first chapter until the end and just because I don’t like to spoil someone’s reading experience I will just say…it made my day and I can’t wait to find the authors other books to read them right away!
Tawna Fenske has become my go-to author for adult rom-com, which I love dearly. This book made me laugh to the point of tears and made it so hard to put down. Something else I love dearly in a book. So. Much. Fun.
The was a good read. The writing flowed well, and I liked Ty and Ellie together. Ty was a good guy, and he was very hard on himself. I knew what Ty was going to do before his dad ever showed up. Ellie was a good h, and I liked that she stood up for her son. There wasn’t a whole lot of drama in this book, but it was sweet. Henry was super cute, even with his habit of talking about things that are normally not talked about in public 🙂 If you’re looking for a light, quick read, this is for you.
I voluntarliy reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
Yes, a great read and fun.
The first chapter was hysterical. Ellie, whom Tyler believed to be L.E., introduces himself having no idea that Ellie sells sex toys to support her and her son Henry. There is talk of bowling balls on Tyler’s part and you can guess where the conversation leads. Henry, the 4 year old son, is delicious and takes an immediate liking to Tyler but Tyler has old issues, so they agree to hook up. There is a very happy ending.
Decent distraction for a few hours–gets an extra star for how much it made me laugh in the beginning.
I really enjoyed this book.

Ellie is a single mother with a booming business and she meets Ty when he helps her with marketing tips. So they start working together on several projects together. Ty is hot and Ellie has not felt so strong attraction ever so she goes over her normal side and tries to seduce Ty. Ty is at first fighting their attraction because he doesn’t need complication but after spending time together he surrender to attraction, and soon it becomes more. But Ty’s upbringing makes him insecure and he needs time to see that he is a truly great guy who will not ruin everything.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
After a very unusual meet-cute, Ty and Ellie are off to a wildly entertaining start! He offers her marketing tips in exchange for her doing commercial video voice-overs. Both have very different ideas about home and family, and are if different places in life. As they spend more and more time together, they find they actually have a lot in common! Attraction to one another is undeniable so they embark on a hook-up plan.
I enjoyed the journey both of these characters took. Ty has major hang-ups about relationships and children. Ellie is a single mom raising a precocious child. It was interesting to see the transformations as they navigate a friends with benefits to a relationship. Even with a rollercoaster of a ride, it is either worth it or not. I am glad they were able to figure it out by talking it through. A fun romantic read!

Juice, goldfish crackers, and a stash of porn… It’s what’s in every man’s briefcase.
This is where I make my exit. My nephew and I are going to go do man stuff like scratching ourselves and belching and watching Batman.
He’d had a spirited grandmother once upon a time. She’d taught him to skip rocks and spit off bridges and curse like a thesaurus-wielding sailor.
Ty had behaved like the consummate professional. He’d been respectful, composed, and dignified. She might have been grateful if it weren’t for the fact that she wanted to hump his leg like a feral poodle.
“You fixed my kitchen sink with a condom, bondage tape, and my son’s building blocks.” Ty nodded and wiped his hands down the front of his jeans. “Should we post it to the do-it-yourself page on Home Depot’s website?”
I told the babysitter I had a penis, and Uncle Jason said I needed to keep my pirate parts to myself.
My Review:
The Hook Up kept a gleeful smirk on my face for the duration and provided a fun read filled with clever and saucy humor and an adorable couple. I have savored each and every book in this cleverly written series and relished their unique and highly amusing meet cute introductions. Ms. Fenske excels at naughty euphemisms, crisp banter, and salty wit, and I can’t seem to get enough of her crafty wordplay. I giggle-snorted several times during this couple’s initial meeting, which involved a mistaken identity and confused subject matter. He believed they were discussing bowling products rather than her adult sales line of personal pleasure enhancing products; so when he used terms such as angle of entry, proper hole drilling, and ball cleaning, well, I may have barked aloud.
The Hook Up (First Impressions) by Tawna Fenske
This is single mom Ellie Sanders and Tyler “Ty” Hendrix’s story.
This is a funny and sexy story of two people that find out they have more in common than you would think. Neither one want a relationship but would consider a hook up. Will this turn into more?
A great read for the beach or when you just need a fun escape. Lots of funny and hot situations.
FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
