‘I’m your husband, Chloe. We’re a partnership now and we do what’s best for us as a couple.’ Chloe finally feels like she’s got her life together. After a difficult childhood and losing both parents, she worked hard for the life she loves in lively Brighton, helping people as a physiotherapist. And then she meets the perfect man. It’s a whirlwind romance, but Dan is handsome, funny, and simply the … handsome, funny, and simply the kindest man she’s ever met. When she sees him standing by the altar, tears glistening in his eyes, she knows this will be for always.
As they sunbathe on their honeymoon island, laughing over drinks, planning their future with their feet in the sand, Dan jokes that he’d like them to stay there forever.
At first, Chloe couldn’t agree more. It’s tempting to imagine truly leaving her troubled past behind. But as the honeymoon goes on, he becomes increasingly adamant. They shouldn’t leave. In fact, he won’t let her…
An utterly gripping psychological thriller for fans of Gillian Flynn, Clare Mackintosh, and The Wife Between Us.

Rona certainly knows how to tell a gripping story. There were so many twists, turns, and surprises in this story that I kept turning the pages eager to find out what happened next. Totally addictive.
Chloe and Dan marry shortly after meeting and plan to go to the Maldives for their honeymoon. Chloe is beyond shocked when, while boarding the plane, she discovers that they are not going to the Maldives but to Menorca instead. Soon Chloe learns that Dan has been to the same place and the same house before. When he tells her that they are not going back home but are going to make their home in Menorca, Chloe tries to figure out why that is and who she married.
This book had a super plot line. It was an awesome idea to have newlyweds begin their marriage by with a mystery about who each of them is and what secrets they are hiding. In the end, this was a good book with many twists.
However, to be honest, I almost stopped reading halfway in. I hated Chloe’s character and she was the protagonist. She was very irritating. One moment she believed Dan and then in the same paragraph doubted him. For example, in chapter 4, Dan tells Chloe that his car was damaged. In a few paragraphs, she says she wants to stay to wait for the tow because it could be just an excuse; that she had been deceived before; that something felt off and then she tells him she loves him. What!? They have only been dating two weeks. Where is her internal BS meter? Chloe is just as indecisive throughout. In the plane, she jumps from he is lying to he is telling the truth and from he is wonderful and I shouldn’t have married him. Sometimes opposing thoughts are in the same paragraph!
Stick with this book. Readers should enjoy the second half which then will leave you liking the book.

I loved “Keep You Safe” by this author, so I had high hopes for the new release. I was NOT disappointed. Just as in her first book, the action takes place in a highly systematic manner. At times I almost forgot that I was reading a psychological thriller, because it just seemed like a great story. But then there would be an event, or a comment, that made me stop and think about what I had just read. The plot was excellent and kept me guessing throughout. Even when all was revealed, I kept thinking that things couldn’t be the way they seemed. I loved how the book ended and especially appreciated Chloe’s full journey. I highly recommend this book. Thank you to Bookouture (via NetGalley) for the opportunity to read a complimentary digital ARC of this book.
Meet Chloe and Dan, married after only two months. The Honeymoon is the story of what happens after such a hasty stupid decision. At the airport, your destination has changed. Upon arrival to said destination, your new husband, Dan, acts different and strange. He says you are going to stay in this place and live here. He’s scary at this point. Maybe Chloe made a mistake with this guy? Seriously, I wanted to slap her, and wake her up! This story is engrossing and thrilling. There are so many twists and turns all the way to the end. The setting is beautiful. The characters are complex and definitely flawed. I loved and hated them. Overall, I recommend for anyone looking for a solid thrill ride of a story. The Honeymoon by Rona Halsall
As I finished I thought, “twisted web” then had to look the words up and realized it was a tangled web quote I was thinking of, “O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive!” and Walter Scott definitely would have agreed with me that this story was both tangled and twisted, too.
We know from the beginning of the book that Chloe, on her way to her dream honeymoon, will soon be having second thoughts. As the story moves from the race to the plane to the first inklings of something not right then on to more and more to question I wondered why Chloe kept giving her husband Dan the benefit of the doubt. There were several flashbacks to the meeting and courtship period between Chloe and Dan and then I scratched my head more than a few times thinking of how naive and gullible Chloe seemed to be. As I read I questioned and though there were times that I disagreed with Dan’s behavior and questioned his veracity I felt that I was missing part of his backstory and was curious about what he was hiding.
I have to say that there was more than one option I saw as the end of this story BUT I was surprised that it ended as it did and for a person who reads the end of a book out of order…this book still kept me guessing.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC ~ This is my honest review.
4-5 Stars
Chloe meets Dan when he brings his mum in for physical therapy. After a 2-month whirlwind courtship, they wed and leave for a honeymoon in the Maldives. However, Dan has surprised Chloe and changed their destination to Menorca. This sets off a series of events which has Chloe wondering if her prince charming is really the devil in disguise. I really enjoyed this quick easy read which was full of suspense and surprises. I found the characters pretty much unlikeable including her Gran, but overall it is a very good book and I especially liked the ending. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read an ARC of this page-turner in exchange for an honest review.
A unique and intriguing read that left me guessing and confused right alongside the heroine, feeling everything she was feeling and just as confused! When you marry some one you have only known 8 weeks you can’t ever really know them, not truly. But are the things you don’t know going to destroy your life leaving you in danger, scared and confused with no one to trust? I highly doubt it! An easy read that I just had to finish before I could go to sleep, and definitely worth a look for anyone who loves a thrilling read where you don’t really know what’s going on until the very last page.
Thanks so much to @Netgalley and @Bookouture for this advanced digital copy of The Honeymoon, by Rona Halsall
Chloe and Dan meet through his Mother Alma, and after a whirlwind courtship, (2 months) and they marry. Right after, they head to the Maldives for the Honeymoon of their dreams.
Soon into their honeymoon, Chloe wonders if this man is really who he says he is, and even more so, when he does not want to return home. He changes, and she wonders what he is hiding. Of course, they both have secrets and in the end, with a twist, we learn why Dan does not want to return.
And I will leave that for the other readers to find out.
***The book was well written, and sucked me right in from the beginning (And I loved the cover by the way) and it was full of twists and turns. I did feel like the ending of the book dragged a bit, but overall, it was a good book!!
