Prosecutor. Marine. Brother.I thought I knew the man I was. But in one moment, I found my real purpose: saving Nina de Vries. On the outside, she seemed the perfect, icy aristocrat. But I knew different.Trapped by her monstrous husband and fear of her powerful family, Nina was begging to be saved. And I was the only one who could do it. Instead I broke her heart, and now I’ll stop at nothing to … heart, and now I’ll stop at nothing to put it back together.
Because when fate introduces you the love of your life, you don’t walk away.
You fight for your chance, even if it means dragging the world down with you.
Nina and I were written in the stars.
That’s not even a question.
But will fate let us take our happy ending?
Or is our future one we’ll have to steal?
The Honest Affair is the epic conclusion of the Rose Gold Trilogy, a steamy, forbidden billionaire romance.

Where do I begin with my feelings about this book. I’ve loved Matthew’s character for a very long time, and this third and final in the series just proves why. He and Nina belong together in every sense of the word. The battles they’ve encountered and the hurt they’ve endured, just shows how much they belong together. Matthew will do anything for the ones he loves, like his family, but especially for Nina.
As for Nina, her character is incredible. She is a strong, fierce woman who will protect her daughter and herself in a way that makes your heart stop. And when Matthew is part of the equation, nothing will stop her from what she wants.
Matthew and Nina are the Grace Kelly and Gene Kelly of the 2020’s. Their elegance, their sophistication and just their general being will make you fall in love with them. It’s not all easy, and many obstacles get in their way that I just kept hoping that by the end of the story, they would be together. If you want to find out how their story ends, then please do yourself a favor and read this incredible story of second chances at life and love.

After the ending in the Perfect Woman, I was eagerly awaiting the next installment.
Brimming with angst, this read had all the feels and all the twists of a complicated relationship. I’m not sure what I would have done but this story offered some interesting insights.
Nina is done. Fed up, worn out, just done. Now it’s time for her to be the woman her grandmother taught her to be. Throughout the series we have watched as everything was taken from her. As Calvin tore her down and destroyed her character, self esteem and anything else he thought he had a right to. But now she has lost and given up everything including loving the one person she thought would be there forever. Zolo thought he lost it all. One fateful decision just blew all he ever thought he wanted to hell in a handbasket of his own making. Now he struggled with all that was left, a bartending job, his bottle and a cigarette.
These two have battled for a year to get to where they are and the battle isn’t over. In the final book of the series this author lays it out better than it could have ever been as she shows God don’t like ugly and Calvin is as ugly as they come. With all of his truth laid out and his past coming back to finally reveal it all this isn’t a fast or easy journey but it sure as hell as been a good one. The good, bad and ugly battle it out with everything on the line. It isn’t pretty and it doesn’t play out like you think as this author twists it up and plays out the betrayal and revelations like it’s Christmas day.
The Honest Affair was a fabulous conclusion to the Rose Gold series with Nina and Matthew. It had everything I wanted for their love story. Their love was certainly put to the test! What a fantastic ride filled with love, lust, angst, secrets, lies and truths to be uncovered!

Great book that and amazing series that I have enjoyed quite a lot. Still like these characters even more now with this book. Just couldn’t put down and the author did a great job with this.
When do the lights go out on true love? Are there turn offs to stop love from growing? What happens when trust is broken or when trust is not respected? How does one move on afterwards, or do they? The Honest Affair may help answer those questions.
Nina is the silent strong woman that everyone looks up to. Regal is how she is described, strong in appearance with power abound. What people don’t see is the damage she has endured, or the pain she hides behind her big smile. Choices made are sometimes not best retained and this she has learned. But some decisions always keep a smile on her face.
Matthew is the alpha male protector. Family and friends are his first priority and he will do what is needed to make sure they are safe. But his biggest gift may be his commitment to what he knows is correct. Truth and justice carry him in his daily life, and in his career.
Reading this story made me ask the questions I started with. And with each page turned, an answer was brought to light. When you know that person is the one, you know. No corner of the earth is too far to travel and no crevice too small to penetrate to protect. All other questions answer themselves or fade away.
The Honest Affair is Book 3 of The Rose Gold Series. This is the first book from this series I have read and while I am waiting on book 4 to come out I will be going back to read the prior works. This story was thought provoking, loaded with angst at times, and heartwarming in the end. A great job with this one Nicole French!
I love how Matthew fights for Nina. Nina at first was not willing to forget all that happened. But Matthew doesn’t let her run away.
Plus it was good to see Eric and Jane again for the last book of this series.
The honest truth about this book is it’s the perfect ending to this trilogy. As with every Nicole French book, she has to break our hearts before healing them beautifully. Nina & Matthew have an amazing dynamic. Their circumstances aren’t always ideal, but they adapt and become stronger unified. Nicole did a fantastic job at diving then the story and HEA they deserved. I can’t wait to read the next spin-off!
Where do I start? This book was breathtakingly beautiful. The conclusion of Nina & Matthew’s story, one that I so impatiently waited for, was nothing short of a HEA. They’re fight to grow through trauma and heal to become stronger independently and together was captivated so beautifully through Nicole’s writing. Writing about domestic violence is never easy im sure, but Nicole tackles the issue that plagues 25% of women and showed how one woman took her pain and turned it into strength. As someone who works directly with victims, I thank you Nicole. For not sugarcoating it or pretending it’s okay and for pushing to show that women can survive and even thrive. Okay okay, off my soapbox now- I always want to say that this love story is nothing short of a fight and for that I am also thankful. Portraying real and raw emotion through words can be so powerful and Nicole knocked it out of the park! I felt Nina’s pain, I felt Matthew’s sorrow and I felt their joy at coming home to each other. I can’t wait to see how they are doing in the next characters stories <3
Nicole French has done it again.
If you are half as invested in how Nina and Matthew were going to finally find their happily ever after as I was when I started this book, let’s just say you’re going to hit the end of this final installment with a big, fat smile on your face.
As much as I love Jane and Eric from Nicole’s previous trilogy, I think I may love Matthew and Nina more. I love how much they love each other and how strong both become through their journey toward each other. They really gel as a couple in this book, and there are some pretty steamy scenes involving the two of them, so get ready!
I was most impressed with Nina’s character development in this book. She is a woman I can admire, someone who refuses to be a victim of her circumstances and someone who fights for the ones she loves. Nina is right up there with Jane and Skylar as some of my favorite fiction heroines, and I hope we get to hear more from all three in the next trilogy that I *hope* stars Frankie and Xavier.
5 vibrant and enthusiastic stars for a fantastic ending to another amazing series!
This was a fantastic conclusion to Nina and Zola’s story. I love this couple and their ups and down were just gut wrenching and so emotional! Highly recommend this trilogy! And everything else Nicole has written!!
Simply amazing. I’m so in love with this couple. The honesty. The raw emotions. Just an awesome read!
I wished their story would continue longer. I love how their characters are evolving thru out the story! Both are broken but they came into solving each of their trauma with love. Thank you nicole for another great story. One of my fav story so far beside Jane and eric!!
More. Please, Ms., I want some more. *swoon* This was everything and more but I want more!! I could not have asked for anything other than MORE! I NEED MORE! haha
Nina and Matthew have been through so much and this was finally their perfect circle. They still had their push and pull and still had so much growing to do, both together but individually as well, so it was beautiful to see that come to fruition. I can’t think of a better ending for these two beautiful people. They deserved their happy ending and they fought for it!
I can’t wait to hear the beginning, middle, and ending of Frankie and Xavier’s story!! <3 <3 <3
I, also, hope to hear more over time about Sophia's relationship with her Italian family. That melted my heart. <3
Thank you, Nicole, for being amazing and allowing these characters to tell your their stories so that you can share them with us!
This was a fitting end to the Rose Gold Trilogy. We have been waiting with bitten fingernails and bated breath for this final book and when I had it in my sweaty little hands, I waited a few days to read it. Kind of like how the best part of Christmas is Christmas Eve, when the presents are all wrapped and under the tree and you can just kick back and relax and enjoy the holidays for the first time this year, and tomorrow it will all be over. That’s how I felt when I had the Honest Affair on my kindle. I just wanted to savor that feeling.
Matthew and Nina have not had an easy time, and we pick up where the 2nd book left us. Matthew’s career is in jeopardy and Nina is implicated in Calvin’s sleezy businesses. Things look pretty grim.
Now Matthew Zola had me from his first Fedora. This Sinatra dresser, smooth talker, handsome speciman of a man made me fall in love with him in The Scarlet Night. Nina’s kindness emerged in Jane and Eric’s books, when she began to befriend Jane. But when her story came out in this trilogy, my heart bled for her. And if anyone deserves a happy bending, it would be these two lovely people.
Nina and Zola have a lot to overcome in this book. We still have everyone’s favorite villains to hate, Caitlyn Calvert, and of course Calvin Gardner. I do not think I have ever hated any fictional characters more than these two people! I am glad there are so many more people to love; like Zola’s family, Eric and Jane, Skylar and Brandon, and Derek. These people more than make up for the two bad apples that are rotten to the core.
Our duo learn what it means to give up everything for love, Matthew more than Nina. She had to put up with a lot from Calvin, but Matthew actually lost everything material just by being with Nina. But he had everything he could need or want – in Nina.
I would give this book many more stars than 5 if I could!! You have to read this amazing trilogy if you haven’t yet!
I have been waiting for this book. Nina and Matthew have captured our hearts since the beginning and taken us on quite a ride. I know this book’s title will turn off a lot of people, but I have to tell you give this a try. I am not one to read and enjoy books about affairs. But this story is so different. You need to read it and see for yourself. Things aren’t always so black and white. This is an absolute must read!!
Zola and Nina pull you back into their story right where it left off. I was so blow away with all the twist and turns, the emotions, action, and the intense moments where you didn’t know which way you were going and what was gonna happen. I have no words to describe the many things this pulled out and left me wanting more and so breathless. I love everything this book had and how everything put out and you feel everything that they felt. I laughed, and almost cried and was disappointed at all. I can’t wait to read what she has next .
“The climactic end to the Rose Gold series.”
Climactic is one way to put it.
I adore Nina and Zola. Their story is everything. All the feels. ALL OF THEM!!! Their fighting, their downfall. Losing it all and winning it all back. Going down swinging and never without a fight.
I love that the book is written in the dual POV and we get to see things from both of their eyes. I’ve just barely finished their story and I need more.
It’s the perfect ending for this couple but I need more, haha!
Nina and Zola finally get what they deserve…happiness <3
Such a beautiful conclusion to this series. I couldn’t be any more happier for how it turned out for Nina and Matthew. After months of waiting, the anticipation of what will become of the two lovers who are so destined to be together is answered. I loved that no matter what love with prevail. This was such a great read. Like all of Nicole French’s books, you won’t be disappointed. Every question you had will be answered along with so many happy feels when it ends. Definitely a must read and one of my favorites story book couple.
4.5*!! This was a great ending to the Rose Gold trilogy! I love how the characters and the way it’s written brings us back to another decade and I have to remind myself that we are in modern times. But it’s just perfect the way it’s done. I love Matthew Zola! And I love Zola and Nina together! This neatly tied up the loose ends of the story. All of Zola’s and Nina’s secrets are exposed to each other and they have to face them. And we get more of Matthew and his family. I absolutely love the interaction between him and his sisters! The only reason it didn’t get that extra half a star to make it 5 stars is because it didn’t evoke quite the amount of emotions normally a 5 star book would for me. But it was close and this series is definitely a can’t miss!
