I have to admit I knew little or nothing about Supercross, after reading this I find that bike racing can be very thrilling and exciting! Davey and Tyler a perfect examples of finding that perfect someone and overcoming every obstacle to have a relationship you both deserve. This was a wonderfully well written, fast reading enjoyable story about finding that special someone and holding on to each other forever.
I’ve never read a book about motor cross before. I found this book wonderful and very beautiful. Tyler and Davey are perfect together! Their journey is not an easy one, but they get through it together.
It also brings to light the prejudices that athletes face. It shouldn’t matter who you are and who you choose to love. I really loved the positive message overall. Loved it!
Riding into love
I learned a lot about Supercross reading this book. The beginning of this book was unexpected and surprising, a very happy birthday to Tyler. Opposing sides and the environment Davey and Tyler are in means they have to hide their attraction but they decide to go for it anyway, and boy, do they ever go for it as they can’t seem to stay away from each other, which is happy for us. Davey wants all in and sometimes he’s a little reckless but it makes sense that’s part of his personality. Ty, on the other hand, is more cautious and scared because of their careers. Although, gotta say, they both surprised me with their big gestures to each. They are both highly emotionally invested, which makes each of them feel happiness and sadness very strongly, which isn’t bad, just makes for a roller coaster read at times.
I do feel bad and angry about all the obstacles they had to overcome in order to be together, especially the toxic people. I hope some people believe in karma. I’m glad they had their chosen family (Janie’s pretty funny) and their angel on their side, and the extra romance in this story was fun. I really love how sweet and silly Davey and Ty are with each other. They have so much fun together. No matter what happened they supported each other and put the other first and I think that’s what makes them work so well. A very sweet and happy ending!
3.5 stars rounded up to a four for me. There is for sure a lot of sex in the story…for me to say there was too much would be a bit disingenuous because I absolutely love the steam factor. But I loved the racing and the drama behind the scenes even better. Learning about the super-cross racing circuit was amazing to me. Yes it is M/M…with a boatload of sexy time but there was a side M/F story that was kind of fun to read about as well. Watching everyone come together to battle some of the homophobia that can be found in this oh so manly world of racing was the high point for me
The Holeshot by Lynn Michaels is a hot and sexy mm romance with lots of steamy scenes, a few sweet interactions and some Supercross.
Davey and Tyler are great together… I love the insta-ist/insta-love story and I love all the sexytimes they get into. Sometimes you just know and if you do, why wait. Some romances are slow burn… this is not one of them.
The story grabbed my interest and kept it. It has drama, it has action… it has sweet intentions and it has hot and sexy men. In all, it’s a satisfying read in my opinion.
I received an advanced reader’s copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
After reading this oh, so sweet love story, I needed a couple of days to ponder over what to write. Lunn Michaels combines a loving and tender story between Davey McAllister and Tyler Whitmore whilst tackling the ugly side of humanity. Dealing with homophobic and ignorant people, really makes you sit back and realise just what a lot of gay people have to suffer through on a daily basis. The HoleShot was exciting, sexy with a loving family created from their racing team. I had no idea about Super Cross Racing, but was truly delighted to read all about it. Davey and Tyler are so young, so to find your true soulmate was beautiful. I’d highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more.
A practical joke against Supercross dirtbike mechanic Tyler results in him being thrown into the bed of his driver crush Davey McAllister who belongs to another Supercross team. The men are quick to take advantage of their mutual attraction to each other and enjoy quite a morning having sex. With Davey having a childhood filled with nothing but riding, Tyler is a special gift he just can’t let go and he pursues a relationship with the mechanic in spite of two very distinctive challenges. First, both the driver and the mechanic work for different, competitive teams. The second is that the Supercross is a homophobic industry. In Tyler, Davey finds an opportunity at a life that isn’t all about competitive dirtbike riding. In spite of the care the men take in keeping their relationship a secret, they are outed by an explicit picture that makes its way through social media.
Davey is dropped from his team and Tyler is fire from his. However, the sad turn of events including verbal harassment, vandalism, and physical attacks fail to keep the men from planning to marry. They manage to get sponsorship from Apex, an LGBT organization, and continue with their professional and personal goals. In addition to giving readers a credible glimpse into the Supercross world, the writer takes care to craft a believable story concerning the lives of Davey and Tyler whose hopes, dreams, and future are placed squarely in the sport. The relationship between the men (both are in their twenties) is realistic, as sex features prominently in the storyline! The characters make mistakes, misunderstand, second-guess–everything one would expect given their age and circumstances making both absolutely loveable.
I love Davey and Tyler! I don’t know much about super-cross but Lynn Michael obviously does, she does a great job getting you into that world! It’s a fantastic read! Tyler and Davey compete against each other but sparks fly but is it enough to come out, and deal with whatever the sports world will throw at them? Grab this book, you will love it!! I can’t wait to read the next book, great start to a series!!

The Holeshot
Holeshot, Book 1
By: Lynn Michaels
Narrated by: Ryk Bowers
I thoroughly enjoyed this great sports romance, it is well writing with original and interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. I adored both lead characters, Davey McAllister, a motorcross racer wants to land first place and become the next Supercross champion. It is a highly competitive sport and he does not need any distractions. He comes from wealth so it is not just about the money, is more for the love of the sport. Tyler Whitmore is a mechanic who works for one of Davey’s competitors, he worked hard to get where he is and his experience and expertise got him to work at a more advance level quicker than most. He and Davey first meet in the most unconventional and surprising way. There was an instant attraction and the chemistry between them was electric and undeniable. They wanted to see more of each other but any relationship they have must be kept hidden for two reasons, Tyler works for the competition and neither one is out, choosing to keep their sexuality private. But Tyler and Davey’s feeling for each other out weigh the risks. Those two were great together and for each other. Their relationship was blooming but haters will hate and when they are outed we see their ugliness. From early on I love how supportive Stewart was, getting Angel to work P.R., also liked Brad and Tyler’s friend Janie. This story is well plotted and there is never a dull moment, with plenty of drama both relationship and on the track, so many heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. Thank you Lynn Michaels for this great story and the thrilling and emotional rollercoaster ride. I liked how you deal with the homophobic bigots and haters, thanks for keeping it real and handling as it should. Love is Love!!
I listened to the audible edition, Ryk Bowers is a terrific narrator and voice artist. He does a great job portraying the characters, humanizing them, giving them their voices and personality. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures the characters emotions and projects them into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen
The Holeshot is the first in the Holeshot series by author Lynn Michaels. This is a steamy fast-paced read. Personally, the steamy stuff is a little too fast for me in this one. I would have liked more of a connection between these characters, but I can see where some people would love this one.
Davey is a racer. He lives most of the time out of his RV when he is on the road. He is tired from press junkets and racing just wants to get in bed and rest. Only he finds his bed has a sexy man already sleeping in it. Luckily for Davey he is not bothered at all, as a matter of fact, is a welcomed surprise.
Tyler is a mechanic for the KTM team. He is 21 but looks fresh out of high school. He has an air of real innocence to him as well. He is cute cuddly and really sweet.
Overall a great book with a ton of sizzle to it. The pace is great for this story as well. I cannot wait for more from this series and see where the author takes us next.
Five Shooting Stars
I am such a FAN of racing of any kind, motorcycles to cars. This was a wonderful story about the world of Supercross. The amount of detail during races was like being there. Davey and Tyler are exceptional characters. The shame on these racing sports that still discriminate and they do. This was a story that tackled that issue and was making progress. I’m sooo excited for the next book. Can’t wait to see which of these amazing characters is up next. Love, Love, Loved this book. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!
A surprise on a birthday starts something neither Davey nor Tyler expected, and with the volatile natures of those around them, it might not be something they can keep if they aren’t willing to fight for it. Insta-love and insta-lust abound in this story and with their youth and adrenaline-based careers it’s only natural that they would get mixed up before they create something solid. There are plenty of great things about Davey and Tyler together, but there are also drawbacks that tempered my enjoyment of the story. Overall, it was a good read with interesting characters and a hard journey to attain both love and success, to fight for their happily-ever-after.
What I enjoyed was the focused and determined commitment Davey had. He had that for two things, his sport and his heart. Despite all the drama that could, and did, surround the romance, he was all in from the beginning with Tyler. He knew that finding that special connection with someone who respected his career as well as him personally was priceless. What I respected about him was that he wasn’t the “I’d give up everything for you!” type, he was more about doing what was necessary to move forward despite the obstacles to earn and have everything.
Tyler, however, was a bit more mercurial. His youth was more pronounced in his tendency to react rather than think things through and make the more mature decisions. He was far more reactionary than I liked and I didn’t connect with him as much as I did with Davey. His ability to see the difficulties and be a bit more of a voice of reason often tempered Davey’s more “damn the consequences” attitude and I did appreciate the balance he brought to the relationship.
Including the managers’ relationship and the secondary conflict with the new sponsor’s liaison felt unnecessary and often distracted from the core issues Davey and Tyler faced with their relationship. I didn’t mind adding in the M/F sideline relationship because it gave the whole group a more invested, family feel, but it was the additional conflict that drew the focus away. The anti-gay and abusive actions of those in their sport were incredibly disappointing on a human level, but were appropriate to the story and didn’t feel overdone. I enjoyed the story and think the sport itself was integrated in a fantastic way along with the secondary characters being quite interesting; it’s a good start to the series.
