Impatient. Demanding. Sexy. Bossy.I hate my new boss. He’s Everett Brewer: Football’s smoking hot, superstar running back. When I signed on to be the NFL superstar’s in home personal assistant, I had no idea what I was in for. Every one of his previous personal assistants quit after one week, max. After meeting him just once, I see why. He’s brooding. Impatient. Demanding. And add in a little too … Impatient. Demanding. And add in a little too sexy for his own good.
His standards are ridiculously high. But I really need this job.
We’re at odds, but he doesn’t know I’m halfway to finding out his secret, thanks to a note he scribbled on a napkin that I found.
Could the man who hits harder than anyone else actually have a soft spot?
I thought he would never drop his icy exterior and reveal his hot interior.
Even superstars have a girl they change for.
Turns out I’m that girl.
Only problem is, I’m hiding a secret, too.
And it’s one he might not forgive me for.
But falling in love is never easy. Especially with a man as complex as Everett Brewer.

I loved The Hold Out! This was a sports romance that gave us some insight into the business of football both on and off the field, but more importantly, it gave us Everett, a complex man with deeply rooted feelings. I loved Emma for him, she was sweet and sassy with a heart of gold. Their chemistry was a smoldering bomb waiting to explode, and I thought their stories were woven together well. Their secrets kept them both on edge, waiting for the other shoe to drop, and the tension between them was amazing, as was the way they faced off against each other constantly. Yet, when push came to shove, their true feelings just couldn’t be denied. I loved this read – sexy and light, yet filled with deep feelings!
First impressions are not always what they seem. When Emma and Everett first meet there is an instant feeling of hate and overblown ego, but when she ends up being hired as his PA all bets are off. But can the secrets that they are both hiding from each other ruin the relationship before they get to their HEA? Can they stand by their secrets when once they are revealed both of their careers are in jeopardy? Once again Mickey Miller creates a storyline that you cannot put down. I literally brought my kindle to a restaurant and read while having dinner with my family. The reader instantly feels for the characters and only wants to see their love survive. Cannot wait for more in the series.
Very entertaining read, it’s got everything…Great banter…humor…passion…and feels! Who knew a vital moment about tipping would lead to a job that Emma couldn’t turn down. Working for the brooding Evertt Brewer, comeback football star was more than she bargained for, I mean, brooding and sexy…panty-melting, right? Great story lines, humor and feels, a definite plus! Can’t wait for the next Brewer brother to fall to his knees–they do fall hard.
The Hold Out is more than a simple sports romance! The characters are memorable, the storyline unique and I didn’t want to put it down.
Everett Brewer is not only a complicated man but he is holding a secret that is ripping him apart. It will take a special person to finally break down his barriers and when Emma ends up on his doorstep as his personal assistant he will never be the same! She is sassy and outspoken but she is also carrying a secret. They just have to open up to each other and share their secrets to be able to make their relationship work.
I absolutely loved Everett and Emma! Their story was fantastic! The storyline was great and the characters were fantastic! The story was full of humor, angst, secrets, hot, steamy sexiness and twists and turns that keep you reading to find out what happens next! I couldn’t put it down! I think The Hold Out is Mickeys best book so far!
I loved Emma and Everett! Their first encounter was great. I love how Emma is not afraid to give Everett a piece of her mind, telling him like it is. They compliment each other so well, and despite their rocky start, you see and feel the underlying tension and connection between the two, as it grows over time.
I love how Mickey gives a look at these characters, who can be so relatable, snarky, full of fire. Even though his books are standalones, I really enjoy how he connects them together. This was another great, fun read!
Loved Everett and Emma’s story. Emma is hired on as a PA to the sexy, cocky, Everett. That can’t be that bad can it? Boy, you are all in for a treat with this awesome book.
I loved The Hold Out! Everett and Emma burn up the pages with their chemistry!
Emma gets hired as Everett’s PA to “keep an eye on him”. With the sparks immediately flying between the two of them, what could go wrong?
5 stars!!
Secrets and Lies….
This is not your ordinary sports romance. Everett Brewer has many layers to him. He is a brother to 5 siblings, a football superstar and for all outward appearances he is an ill-tempered, irritable man. Everett is sexy, good looking, rich and can have anythingor anyone he wants. So what is his problem? He has been harboring a secret for years and it has taken a toll on him and it has finally come to a head. The last thing he needs in his life right now is a P.A. that has been assigned to him to help him withhis “workload”.
Emma is a kind hearted woman that has a lot to deal with. She helps her single mom sister financially and by taking care of her niece when she can. She takes on a new position offered to her by the owners of a NFL football team to be a P.A. to one of theirstar players. The terms of the contract are a bit out of her comfort zone, but she needs the money, and boy is it a lot of money. It is too good to pass up.
Everett and Emma stumble through their business relationship, but it becomes clear it’s more than just business. They both have secrets that put their relationship to the test. The question is can they both rise above all their personal conflicts to findeach other at the end of it all.
I loved this enemies to lovers romance. Emma and Everett generate lots of sparks, tension and clever banter as their story unfolds. I liked both of these characters. Emma was kind, smart and spunky. Everett was hot, rich, talented, broody and angry which combined made some very powerful fuel for his bad attitude. I found the story itself quite delightful. It was filled with a captivating blend of emotional turmoil, humor, romance, secrets, drama and steam that will grab and keep you hooked right from chapter one. An exceptionally enjoyable read!!
A great story of forgiveness and letting yourself be happy. Everett is a star football player who is overcome with something he has been living that is bringing him down. Everett meets Emma at the Weiner stand where he treats her like crap and she gives him the rant of her life. Imagine walking in and finding a new personal assistant who is no other than Emma from the Weiner stand! Everett discloses a deep secret and Emma helps him try to find a solution..
A read that tugs at your heartstrings!
DISCLOSURE; My review is on a pre-published E-copy via the author – done strictly on a volunteer basis.
“The Hold Out” is a page-turner molten-hot emotional roller-coaster laugh out loud read. This story left me beaming at the heavenly happy forever.
Everett and Emma’s first meet has them in a heated argument of opinions. Both feel they will never meet again, but fiery desires linger in the air. Everett lost a year playing football due to a haunting nightmarish secret. He is ready to play again, but the owners of the team believe he his concealing something from them. Quite by accident Emma lands the job as Everett’s PA. Both harbor distressing secrets. Everett’s pompous attitude riles Emma’s patience. To achieve their happy forever, Everett must trust in a love he never realized he needed.
Unforgettable captivating creative well-written read. Admirable characters spring to life with quick-witted banter and breathtaking scene descriptions. Emma is a worthy caring gutsy heroine who brings out the best in Everett. Everett becomes a worthy hero. I felt every beat of this story and loved it too. The author did a fantastic job with this entertaining storyline.
I loved this!!!
Football player, Everett Brewer. Needs a PA…
Emma, helping her sister since her brother in law was killed in a motorcycle accident. Working at a hot dog stand. Gives a piece of her mind to me grumpy pants. Aka Everett Brewer.
His bosses hire Emma as his PA… after how she handled him during the hot dog debacle!
This is a enemies (ish) to lovers trope. Along with a secret that may kill it all.
Highly recommend! I loved it!!
Mickey Miller
The Hold Out by Mickey Miller is another great read from this author. A sports romance that will captivate you from start to finish. It was charming, sexy and emotional. Everett Brewer is ready to head back to the game he loves. As a football player, he has a of demands on and off the field. But the team he plays for wants to keep an eye on him. Enter Emma.
Hiding secrets and some insane chemistry is not the best way to start a working relationship, but some things are just out of our control. This is how Everett and Emma find themselves working together. Sparks fly, but what happens when truths are revealed? Will their fragile new beginning survive?
I enjoyed reading The Hold Out by Mickey Miller. Micky has quickly become a 1-click author for me. This story had great characters and a story that will captivate you.
Happy reading!
