Seconds before Earth is demolished to make way for a galactic freeway, Arthur Dent is plucked off the planet by his friend Ford Prefect, a researcher for the revised edition of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy who, for the last fifteen years, has been posing as an out-of-work actor.
Together, this dynamic pair began a journey through space aided by a galaxyful of fellow travelers: Zaphod Beeblebrox—the two-headed, three-armed ex-hippie and totally out-to-lunch president of the galaxy; Trillian (formerly Tricia McMillan), Zaphod’s girlfriend, whom Arthur tried to pick up at a cocktail party once upon a time zone; Marvin, a paranoid, brilliant, and chronically depressed robot; and Veet Voojagig, a former graduate student obsessed with the disappearance of all the ballpoint pens he’s bought over the years.
Where are these pens? Why are we born? Why do we die? For all the answers, stick your thumb to the stars!

Never old.
Brilliantly brilliant discussing brilliant things lol the kind of book that you can’t read wrong. While the characters haven’t changed too much it’s more about throwing them in the wildest scenarios and watching how their differing personalities interact, the questions they’re asking are getting better.
What makes this series stand out is the …
Witty, yet twisted, Entertaining to the Nth degree, AND don’t forget your towel!!!
Great read
Crazy, fun read.
I have read this book about 6 times, especially when I am feeling down about the world. If Beetlebrach can get along with half a brain, so can i.
classic. better than all the movies
Best book ever! I own all five books in the trilogy, and that should tell you something about the humor and magnificent mind of Douglas Adams.
Whimsical, funny, with outlandish characters and fantastical situations. A classic that never fails to make me laugh.
Great book , laughed a lot. worth reading.
Still fun decades later.
I loved it! I would not recommend reading it if you are depressed though because it is rather depressing in parts despite being uproariously funny in others
Don’t panic. Bring a towel. have some nuts and a beer handy. This interstellar throughway makes the destruction of earth necessary. The plans have been filed (on a faraway planet) for several years. You’ve no excuse for not being prepared to leave the planet. The dolphins are leaving, saying “So long, and thanks for all the fish” as they leave.
I’ve read this book so many times that I can quote from it. Just never gets old!
A great read. Don’t read too close for a book report … read on a beach for clever character development, horrible puns, and a 100% smile of satisfaction when finished.
A great read in front a fire with a glass of wine.
I periodically reread this book. Yes, it’s that good. Do you have your towel?
Started a little shaky but turned completely funny later. It is also a movie now. It was well worth reading.
A bit dated now.
It is an iconic cult classic for a reason.
