Seconds before Earth is demolished to make way for a galactic freeway, Arthur Dent is plucked off the planet by his friend Ford Prefect, a researcher for the revised edition of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy who, for the last fifteen years, has been posing as an out-of-work actor.
Together, this dynamic pair began a journey through space aided by a galaxyful of fellow travelers: Zaphod Beeblebrox—the two-headed, three-armed ex-hippie and totally out-to-lunch president of the galaxy; Trillian (formerly Tricia McMillan), Zaphod’s girlfriend, whom Arthur tried to pick up at a cocktail party once upon a time zone; Marvin, a paranoid, brilliant, and chronically depressed robot; and Veet Voojagig, a former graduate student obsessed with the disappearance of all the ballpoint pens he’s bought over the years.
Where are these pens? Why are we born? Why do we die? For all the answers, stick your thumb to the stars!
Praise for The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

One of the best written books/stories/tales ever put forth. Douglas was a talented writer and brilliant wordsmith. Read all his work. One will not regret it.
Classic Hysterics!
Not my kind of book. It just seemed to wander aimlessly. I prefer stories that come to a logical conclusion.
Bit of a strange story but definitely worth it.
A brain the size of an astroid and you want me to make tea? Don’t panic, remember your towel. Great book
Difficult to read with a strange twist.
Well worth a read!
A wild romp (as they say).
Did not enjoy it I only read it because it was a gift
I have no criticism whatsoever, only praise for the works of Douglas Adams.
Best book in the history of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal.
Fabulous! A must read.
A classic
Light weight and not too serious (about anything). Loads of fun and entertainment.
This is truly British style humor applied to a science-fiction genre. The characters behave in a logical manner, except their basic precepts are skewed and flawed. So the logic results in VERY strange actions.
Classic
Never panic and carry a towel.
Great read
British humor, be prepared
Very funny
A classic!!! I love this book! I have read it multiple times, and I don’t normally do that with books. Douglas Adams was a genius!
C’mon folks how do you not rate this pick-me-up bomb sign making, space dolphin flying, potted plant evolving jaunt through silly end of the world stuff a solid 5??
It’s amazing people. Read it, and then get yourself a towel.
