Eliza Knight’s bestselling Scottish historical romance series, The Stolen Bride Series, is back with another amazing tale of adventure, passion and love!Ceana Montgomery had notions of marrying for love after her first disastrous marriage ended in widowhood. But now Robert the Bruce has ordered her to marry a stranger, securing a strong alliance and ending a decades-old feud. Already used as a … feud. Already used as a pawn once in marriage, she is devastated that she will once more have to give up her happiness in order to please the edicts of men. And while the braw warrior standing before her might incite feelings inside her she thought long since buried, desire is a far cry from love.
The rivalry between Brochan Lamont and his twin brother, John, began in the womb, and only grew worse from there. They were pitted against each other in childhood, and their father left them with a legacy that was a race to the finish—whoever has an heir first inherits the lands. The only problem is that Brochan has given his loyalty to the Scots, and his brother to the English. In order to keep the lands and ships under Scottish control, Robert the Bruce demands Brochan marry to break the iron-clad will. His new bride harbors a fiery temperament that lures Brochan into stoking her passions instead of her ire.
Aligned to strengthen the Scottish claims on the realm, Brochan and Ceana must work together to overcome the obstacles that bind them. But perhaps seeing their duties through does not have to be as painful as they both predicted. Is it possible that love can be forged from a union born in alliance? Maybe Fate knew all along just who was meant for who…

” Is it possible that love can be forged from a union born in alliance?”
Literally one of my FAVORITE types of stories. Yes, please!
I loved this book. The female lead just endeared herself for me and I felt so moved by her strength and courage. Great book, must read.
This was a lovely story. I appreciated, in particular, how the characters grew to love each other, and also how one developed courage. The story was like a warm blanket. Thanks for writing it; the book was beautiful.
H is hunky & great leader of his clan. h has endured a 1st marriage with an abuser & then is ordered to marry a man she fears will be a repeat of the 1st spouse. Fortunately, the H is loving & cares for h. Will continue to read this author.
I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, including some of the secondary ones (heroine’s father really understood the needs of a wounded warrior, the loyalty of Hero’s brother, friends and clan members). I appreciated that the heroine was not expected to retreat from her strength, by her husband. Very excited I tried this author and look forward to reading her other books……great job of keeping my interest especially during this time of Covid virus and being limited from my usual activities.
Ah, the Highlanders .. always take my heart away, having visited Scotland, Ireland..my heart remains there…and I can visualize the landscapes in the books..
Ceana had been through a terrible first marriage, to a monster of a man. Widowed, she now had found a kind, gentle man to marry. Unfortunately her king had different plans for her. Ceana was to marry one of the Scots king’s best warriors, Brochan, and he wasn’t taking no for an answer.
Brochan needed a wife, and rather quickly. He had a problem that affected not only his clan, but his king, and having a wife, and a child could solve the issue. Ceana was on his list of “acceptable bride candidates”, lucky girl, and after a meeting she was told to pack her bags.
Not exactly thrilled with having this thrust upon her, Ceana was determined to keep him at arms length. Brochan merely thought of his new wife as a means to an end. But, they each began to see each other as individuals and the romance began.
The two become embroiled in intrigue and danger with an ugly foe. He represents evil and threatens both of them and their entire clan.
This is an enthralling story with an interesting plot, a touching romance, and a truly evil antagonist. This author is always a good read too. I highly recommend it.
Eliza Knight writes steamy romance, and this is a great one. Follow it up with a fast-paced, page-turning ending, and you’ve got a winner!
I knew before I read the first page I was going to love this story! Eliza Knight, a braw highlander, an arranged marriage to forge an alliance, an evil and violent twin brother.. Oh yes, the perfect receipe for a nonstop historical romance. Throw in Ms Knight’s amazing characters and historical knowledge and descriptions, you fall into a world that is magical and comes alive.
Lady Ceana Montgomery had hoped to marry for love to Gabriel, after the almost unbearable treatment from her first husband. But with her brother’s words “I’m sorry Sister, but I canna allow the marriage to take place. We must make peace. For the benefit of the country.” How would she bear it? But when the King, Robert the Bruce makes the alliance, there was no way out.
Lord Brochan Lamont was there waiting for Ceana as she got the news she was to wed him. When Ceana first saw him though, “The sight of him took her breath. Tall, freshley shaven features chiseled form stone and a shock of ginger hair. Startlingly blue-green eyes, a color she had never seen before, like the sea and the earth collided in his gaze.” Sigh.
Take this amazing journey with Ceana and Brochan as they try to sort out their feelings and the challenges they face. I think Brochan is my favorite highlander. That is until the next story comes out!
Fabulous!! The Highlander’s Surrender by Eliza Knight is book 10 in The Stolen Bride Series. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. I just love this journey from enemies to lovers but you can’t help feel sorry for Ceana in the beginning. Eliza has such an amazing way of telling a story and you fall in love with each of her characters especially Brochan who comes off as an arrogant jerk but is truly the man of my dreams. This story has an unwanted marriage, abuse, kindness, mistrust, misunderstandings, patience and yes love! I highly recommend this book and any of Eliza Knights books… you won’t be disappointed!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Ceana really couldn’t see ever sacrificing herself again on the altar of an arranged marriage considering the tortuous outcome of the last time she found herself in that situation. Being a widow to a man that rivaled the devil himself came as a blessing. Besides she had recently given her heart to another. When duty and fate demand this of her once more, she reluctantly but stoically does what is expected of her. Grace under pressure seems to be her middle name, folks.
Brochan has been too busy fighting for his king, country, and trying to keep his clan out of the clutches of his evil twin brother to fall for any woman, let alone get married. When his circumstances dictate he do just that, he’s steadfast convinced himself duty must always come before emotions. Well, Ceana soon has him singing a different tune. She evokes feelings and possibilities he never thought existed. He just has to get over some occasional knuckleheaded thinking first, folks.
Most of this story is this main couple falling for each other, which happens rather quickly. Some perilous drama regarding an inevitable showdown helps bring things to a close. We are then given a brief epilogue that shows life certainly goes on in a very big way. All in all, it was rather predictable but enjoyable to see love conquer all.
Romance Safety Gang: It is mentioned several times in the beginning Brochan has a lot of experience at what he termed bedsport. No time for love, but quick romps in the sack he obviously did. By his own admission, about a dozen lasses so far. He’s clueless on how to woo a woman since they have always thrown themselves at him. Ceana was physically and mentally abused by her husband (often raped). Someone did her a favor when they killed him. After his death and just before Brochan shows up, she was in love/engaged to another man. The OM drama quickly dissipates and she moves on. He does not make a cameo appearance after she marries Brochan.
Title: The Highlander’s Surrender, Series: Stolen Bride (Book 9), Author: Eliza Knight, Pages: 219, stand-alone but part of a series, very steamy scenes, references to previous abuse by a deceased spouse, pure evil twin brother, no OW drama, very brief OM drama, no love triangle, no cheating.

Finally free from a violent marriage Ceana Montgomery believes she has finally found love in a kind and gentle man. When her brother informs her that she is to wed another. Ceana can’t believe this is happening to her and when she sees Brochan Lamont for the first time she can’t help but find him handsome but she is devastated and angry. Ordered by Robert the Bruce to marry, Brochan needs to marry immediately and time is running out. What Ceana doesn’t know is that Brochan has to marry and have a child first to inherit all the title and lands so that his twin brother who has given his loyalty to the English doesn’t inherit the titles and lands. What Ceana doesn’t expect is to find is that she is very attracted to Brochan and he treats her with kindness and respect. I loved this story! I loved the Ceana and Brochan. Ceana is a spitfire and strong and Brochan is a sexy, strong and sweet all rolled into one. I could not put this one down! Definitely recommend it. I would give it ten stars if I could!
Ceana Montgomery managed to survive an abusive husband and is looking forward to marrying the man she loves. Unfortunately Robert the Bruce has other ideas. She is now forced to marry someone who just needs to breed an heir as quickly as possible.
Brochan Lamont and his twin brother have been locked in battle since before their first breaths. That has not been helped by their father not naming his heir, instead the first one to breed a legitimate heir gets both castles.
The twins might look alike but they are totally different characters.
Our heroine is going to have to face her deepest fears.
This is a fascinating story mostly about a woman struggling to put the past behind her and find the strong woman inside . Will her new husband be the brute or the hero she needs.??
A very enjoyable read.
Ceana Montgomery was happy living back at the family castle with her brother, Jamie and his wife. After the death of her abusing husband, she vowed if she married it would only be for love. She had found a man at home that she felt comfortable with and one morning that came to an end. A large ginger haired highlander entered the castle and announced that he was to marry Ceana by decree of King Robert the Bruce. What was Ceana to do? Her life was planned and who was this braw warrior standing before her changing her life? His name was Brochan Lamont and he had a twin brother named John. In order to keep his lands, ship building and army he must marry and have an heir born before John; as stipulated in their father’s will. King Robert was hoping that Brochan’s marriage would help save Scotland. His brother John had turned his loyalty from Scotland to the English. Eliza Knight has presented us with wonderful characters and a tale of overcoming barriers that bind them all for the love of Scotland.
What a fantastic addition to Eliza Knights Stolen Bride series, #9. I loved this story of an arranged marriage between Ceana Montgomery and Brochan Lamont. Ceana was married before to an cruel man up until his death. She had hoped to marry for love when she married again. Robert the Bruce has ordered that she marry Brochan, a stranger to secure a strong alliance and end a decades-old feud. Neither of them wants this but would for King and country. This is a wonderful story of two strong willed characters learning to trust in each other and fall in love. I fell in love with Brochan and Ceana. Eliza Knight has a gift of giving her characters life and realism. Travel back to 1298 Scotland and take the journey with Brochan and Ceana. You won’t regret going along for the ride. I highly recommend this book and all in the series. I was gifted this book and am voluntarily reviewing. My opinions are my own.+
After an awful marriage to a monstrous man, Ceana Montgomery is a happy widow and has finally found a man to marry for love. But her plans come to a screeching halt when King Robert the Bruce orders her married to a complete stranger in order to end a feud and help secure the future of Scotland. Ceana is devastated at being used as a pawn yet again, though the brawny warrior who is now her husband stokes desires in her that she’d thought long withered away.
Laird Brochan Lamont has been in competition with his twin brother John since before they were even born and things have only gotten worse. Now they’re set against each other by their own father’s inheritance stipulation: whichever brother is the first to produce an heir will inherit the lands. Their competition continues further still with Brochan loyal to the Scots and Robert the Bruce and John having sold his loyalty to the English. Now King Robert has ordered Brochan’s marriage in an effort to ensure the Lamont lands remain under Scottish control. With the fiery temperament Brochan’s new bride possesses, his task may not be as simple as he first thought.
The closer Ceana and Brochan become, the more she begins to think she married the right man for her after all. But with his brother a constant threat to their safety, their happiness is far from guaranteed.
I was unsure about this premise because the heroine started out in love with someone else and I do think her affections transferred to Brochan very rapidly. I also just didn’t care much for her and her fears about most everything. But, to be fair, Brochan was a pretty great hero and encouraged so much growth in Ceana, who was previously afraid of everything, that it did work. I would’ve liked to see more of a showdown between Brochan and John, but maybe we have to wait for a later book for that. Also Brochan’s actions did fit with his character arc so I can’t be mad. The development of Brochan and Ceana’s relationship and her facing her fears is the main focus of much of the book and I struggled to stay invested, but by the latter half of the book when the action picked up, I couldn’t put it down. I’ll be looking forward to the next book.
