Lady Eva de Clare, the youngest daughter of the Earl of Northwyck is not having a good day, for reasons unknown to her, her father is being blackmailed by the vile Lord Belfinch and she has just been informed, that she has to marry the man, today!
Magnus “Strath” Sutherland, Laird of Dornoch and Earl of Strathnavor has been sent to England by King Robert for two reasons, one to capture Lord Belfinch and two to find out of Lord Northwyck’s youngest daughter Lady Eva is still alive. Strath arrives and storms the keep interrupting the wedding, after Belfinch is knocked out cold, Strath takes Eva prisoner, thinking Belfinch will follow.
Strath is attracted to Eva, but events in his recent past with women have left him wary and unwilling to trust. But Eva is a truly sweet woman and she worms her way into not only Strath’s heart, but his men as well. By the time they reach his Uncle Jamie’s keep, Strath knows his heart is well and truly lost.
Eva returns that love, but she has not been completely honest with him and when she learns of his past betrayal, is worried that her secret will destroy any tender feelings he has for her.
This is a fast read with very likeable characters, betrayal, secrets, warm love scenes, cameos from the Stolen Bride series, a bit of action, some shocking revelations and a very sweet HEA. There is a decidedly modern feel to the dialogue and a couple of dropped story lines that kept this from being a five star read for me, but it is a very entertaining book and I would be happy to recommend it.
This is the second book in the series, but it can easily be read as a standalone title.
The Highlander’s Stolen Bride by Eliza Knight
The Sutherland Legacy #2
Magnus “Strath” Sutherland has been tasked by King Bruce to collect a despicable man and bring him to Scotland for trial. Instead, he steals Eva de Clare from the chapel before her wedding vows to despicable Belfinch can take place. Over the time they move north to Scotland the two flirt a bit, talk a bit, grow to know one another quite a bit and fall in love. They arrive at his uncle’s and wait for her father and Belfinch to arrive so that they can be dealt with. Most of the book deals with the trip north and the getting to know one another but there is also the question of whether or not her mother is still alive, her father’s true part in the dealings of Belfinch and a few other issues that need to be dealt with. Yes, there is a HEA for the couple and it was a delight to read. Why? Because the two are so good together, both are admirable people and they so deserve to be happy with one another in the future. I am curious to find out who will be in book three.
Did I enjoy the book? Yes
Will I read more in the series? Yes

Magnus “Strath” Sutherland, Laird of Dornoch, accepts a commission from the king stop an English lord’s path of destruction across Scotland’s borders. He rides into Earl of Northwyck castle to capture the villain and instead he kidnaps and rescues at the alter Eva de Clare, youngest daughter of the Earl of Northwyck. Eva was being forced to marry the man who was blackmailing her father, a man so vile and disgusting she was desperate to escape the marriage she begs the Highlander to take her instead of her father. Strath know Lord Belfinch will come after the lovely maid and his bag of coins to kill him for stealing what’s his. Eva is whisked across the Scottish border as a prisoner of war only to discover her Highlander is more than she first thought. He’s not the murdering man she thought who destroyed so many villages she noticed as they made their escape to the border, he’s kind, generous, and loyal to his Clan. The author does an excellent job of mixing some history into this action packed romance and adventure of a lifetime as these two find their HEA after being kidnapping by the enemy. This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review.
This is a fun story about a young Scottish Laird, named Magnus, after his father, aka “Strath”. Strath hasn’t had a positive past with women, so he doesn’t much trust them, for good reason. Strath and his men are sent to northern England on an assignment by their king, Robert the Bruce, to attack an enemy of Scotland and to determine whether or not a woman named Lady Eva is alive or not. He doesn’t question why, he just follows the orders of his liege, until he arrives.
A spur of the moment decision and a request from a lovely young woman, has Strath kidnapping a lady whose name just happens to be Eva. The two head north back to the safety of Scotland only to fall for each other while enroute. But why exactly was the king looking fir Lady Eva? How will that affect their future? Can they avoid retaliation over this kidnapping?
Terrific plot with interesting characters and a page turner from start to finish. There were funny as well emotional passages that kept the reader involved in the tale. I highly recommend this book to readers of historical romance who enjoy action and heat with their hea. I am also looking forward to the next in the series as well.
Eve de Clare. is the youngest daughter, of the Earl of Northwyck and has been promised in marriage to a cruel lord that is blackmailing her father. Her outlook on life has become a horror realizing she is to be his wife. She is trapped and has no way out of the situation that is before her. However, her savior comes in the form of Magnus “Strath” Sutherland as he steals her away over the boarders and into the safety of the Highlands. Eliza Knight has provided us with another wonderful Scottish romance with plenty of adventure and romance to keep you turning the pages. What a great adventure to enjoy.
If you love suspense, betrayal, and Scottish romance all rolled into one, you should love reading “The Highlander’s’ Stolen Bride” by Eliza Knight! I’ve read several of Eliza’s books and she’s a master storyteller. Her characters are so well developed that you’ll either love the hero’s or heroines, and you’ll most likely hate the nasty, villains. I love how Eva helps Strath learn to handle his self perceived humiliation as well as his lack of trust for any females. Once burned twice shy some say. This book is well worth the read for too many reasons to list, but the unexpected twists and turns keep you reading until the end. I’d recommend this book easily to my Scottish Romance lover friends and anyone else thinking of trying out a new genre.
My Highlander’s Stolen Bride by Eliza Knight us another fantastic Scottish Romance. I absolutely love men in kilts and Ms. Knight did not disappoint!! Fast paced, well crafted with charming, strong, engaging and memorable characters. The storyline flowed seamlessly and effortlessly. Filled with intrigue, suspense, mystery, Romance, passion and adventure with a wonderful HEA. Another must read Scottish Romance with a few surprises and twists and turns. Powerful and compelling!

Magnus “Strath” Sutherland has been sent by his king to capture the men responsible for some horrific raids on Scottish villages. Also he must find out the truth about the reported death of a young lady.
Eva de Clare can’t understand what has happened with her father lately. He has been taxing his people into near starvation, and giving the money to the evil brute who is now demanding her hand in marriage. No amount of tears or rage is going to change her destiny.
There is a lot more to find out about both our lead characters lives throughout the story. Action packed and full of fun and emotion. A wonderful adventure through the highlands. I loved it.
THE HIGHLANDER’S STOLEN BRIDE by Eliza Knight is book Two in The Sutherland Legacy Series. This is the story of Magnus “Strath” Sutherland, Laird of Dornoch , Earl of Strathnavor and Eva de Clare. I have read the previous book, but feel you can make this a standalone book if you choose to do so. Eva’s father has been black mailed for the last few years by Lord Belfinch who now demands her had in marriage. Lord Belfinch is a evil man and she begs her father not to do it but papers have been signed making her. But just before a vow is said Strath comes in and takes her away. Strath who is getting over a past mistake where he trusted a women only to be deceived by her that ended up hurting his father has taken a commission from King, Robert the Bruce to bring the evil Lord Belfinch in for his evil deeds and to find out of Lord Northwyck daughter Eva is safe. Strath thinks at first that Eva was wanting to marry Lord Belfinch and when she doesn’t quickly say different proves his thoughts. But Eva was being forced to marry him but for some reason she is hoping to save her father at first and she was also somewhat scared of Strath from what she has heard of his people. But it doesn’t take long before their feelings start to take over for each other and they are finding that they want each other.
Exciting read that is very hard to put down…loved it!
My heart is smiling as I turned the last page. But I knew to expect that with any story by Eliza Knight! She has the special touch of wonderful prose and creating delightful characters that you get to know as you are immersed into the storyline. Combining the exact amount of brawn Scot Magnus “Strath” Sutherland, Laird of Dornoch and the delightful English Lass Eva Declare, daughter of the Earl of Norwyck brings this tale to life.
Strath is given the task by the king to go to England and put an end to an English Lords plan to lay siege to the Scots. But when he finds the English Lord he lands in the middle of is his daughter, Eva being forced to marry a terrible lord who has been blackmailing her father for years. Doing her best to get away before the vows, she is amazed when Strath comes into the church and kidnaps her to take back to Scotland.
I could only fall in love with these two characters who just had to be meant for each other. Of course, there were many ups and downs and unexpected twists, that I could not wait to see what happened. Prepare to be entertained and sigh a lot with the hope that the next in the series comes out soon!!!
he Highlander’s Stolen Bride is the 2nd book in Eliza Knight’s Sutherland Legacy series. Like the first book, The Highlander’s Gift, this was a lot of fun to listen to. You could listen to this all on it’s own, but Strath is the brother of Bella and there are mentions of a few events from book 1 – so they’re best listened to in order.
I was a bit hesitant because of the word “stolen” in the title – but Eva kind of wanted to be stolen so there isn’t anything dark, forced, or coerced about their relationship. I liked Strath and Eva as individuals and within the romance Knight crafted for them. The relationship aspect is again fairly low angst with most of the conflict arising from external sources and protagonists. I also appreciate that Knight gives us a few chapters plus an epilogue to really enjoy Strath and Eva as a couple.
I continue to enjoy Knight’s writing and characters and am looking forward to the third book, The Highlander’s Hellion.
Narration:
I loved Antony Ferguson’s narration again. He again gives all the characters unique voices, accents, and mannerisms. His inflections and emotions really bring the story to life and make for an enjoyable audio.
(Listened to on audible) the narrator did a good job.
The chemistry between the characters was on point.
The storyline was easily followed and detailed. I don’t feel you need to read the first book, but it may help with placing some of the characters.
I didn’t think book 2 could possibly be better than book 1, but it was! Let me just say this, cherry tarts…. cherry tarts! That scene had me laughing like a maniac.
Eva, our main heroine finds herself being married off to a man she despises, and when an unlikely hero shows up in the form of highlander, she seizes her chance at escape. She figures he must be the lesser than two evils, and I agreed. I loved how level-headed this heroine was. She doesn’t cower in a corner and let life take her for a ride, instead she makes her own fate.
Strath… mmm… love the sound of his name. He is the perfect highland hero! So sexy and dark, but not too dark, and oh so sweet to our heroine. He’s been hurt by love before, and is hesitant to let Eva in, but after some time together, he finds it hard to imagine a life without her.
Together, these two make the best couple I’ve read this year! And I’ve already started book 3!
Lily S. Thomas – Author of the Ice Age Alphas series
Eliza Knight, this is by far one of my favorite highland love story. I was immediately in love with the entire characters. I love the action pack , humorous love story of two different worlds united together that ended with a happily ever after. This was a page turner for me. I could not put it down. I will be grabbing Book 3 ( The Highlander’s Hellion ). This book is a must have, so grab your copy and happy reading!
Very enjoyable
A very fun read.

I was immediately captivated by the strong characters. Rescued in the nic of time and brave. I could not put this book down till the very end. This is book 2 of a series. Wonder read. Wonder author. I’m following her and I can’t wait to see what she has in store of us next. Keep them coming please.
Great reading from a great author
I have been waiting on this book and was not disappointed, could not put it down read it in one day. The story revolves around Magnus “Strath” Sutherland and the lovely Eva de Clare, he is sent to England by Robert the Bruce to capture Lord Belfinch an evil and hateful man that has been raiding and killing all along the lowlands. He has traced him to the home of Lord Northwyck, the father to Eva, who is forcing her into marriage with Belfinch. Nothing she does and says will change his mind and as they stand before the priest our hero Strath appears and stops the wedding. The fun begins from there I found Eva a lovely person inside and out, who is alone in the world, she has a father who is weak, a mother who has been abducted and presumed dead, but is all as it seems, things are revealed that will shake Eva to her core. Strath has also been asked to find out if Eva is alive and well by Robert his King, why he does not know. He takes Eva in her father’s place as his prisoner, fights the hateful Belfinch injuring him, then takes off with his warriors and Eva for Scotland. The story has lots of beloved characters you will recognize Magnus Surtherland and his lovely wife Arbella, Strath’s father and mother, and Jamie and Lorna from the stolen bride’s series. The love that grows between Strath and Eva is wonderful to see, will they get their happy ever after, they have a lot to go through to get to that point, a lot of secrets, and lies are unveiled along the way. I hope you enjoy their journey with them. The love they feel for each other leaps of the page, well written story. Thank you Eliza Knight for another great read.
