Great, multi-faceted characters. Very interesting plot. Just steamy enough. Kept me intrigued from the first page to the last.

Loved their story…funny and a page turner.
This story will definitely steam up the glasses! An English lady forced into a betrothal to one man. When he died, she is again forced to that man’s younger brother, a Scottish Viscount. Determined to find her first taste of desire before she is shackled to a man who does not want to marry her anymore than she marry him, she goes to a masquerade dressed as Aphrodite. Well that could only men she was looking for a tryst! She meets a man and all I can say is wowza. What she does not know is he is her betrothed! Talk about fate stepping in at an unexpected moment!
Now if only she did not have her wedding the next day.

Wow! This is one hot and steamy book that you won’t want to put down. This is one seriously fun read featuring a strong, spirited female character, lots of steamy romance, a bit of angst and a few secrets thrown in as well. A 5 star book for sure.
Lady Caroline Wilmont expected a loveless marriage from her betrothal to the cold John, Lord Blackhall. Then he dies and Caroline is almost immediately betrothed to his brother Taran, who she assumes will be just as bad as John. Determined to taste desire with a man who truly wants her at least once before her marriage, Caroline sneaks out to a Masque costumed as Aphrodite, intent on making memories of desire to see her through what is sure to be a cold marriage.
Taran Robertson, now Viscount Blackhall, despises the fact that he must marry the English heiress his father has chosen and makes no secret of that fact. He attends the Masque as a last indiscretion before his wedding, only to encounter the most seductive woman he’s ever met, and one with obvious secrets.
When Caroline realizes who she’s just had a tryst with she is horrified. From what she’s heart of her new fiance she’s sure he won’t tolerate a wanton wife so she feels she must ensure he never finds out she was Aphrodite.
I didn’t really follow Caroline’s reasoning here. She was a bit of a brat when she wasn’t in costume and honestly if both of them had just been honest with each other they could’ve solved a lot of problems. But then again, that angst was a driving force for the plot. There were several plot holes and confusing scenes, but the plot strengthens near the end with some danger elements that I appreciated, along with the intense amount of steam of course.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Explosive enemies-to-lovers historical romance!
Oh my, Caroline is a heroine for the ages! She’s not going to just sit by and let life make decisions for her. She may not be able to get out of the arranged marriage, but she certainly can take charge of a few other things! And Taran is hot, hot, hot! He’s captivated by his Aphrodite, despite the fate that awaits him the next day. These two steam up every scene they’re in, even when they’re adversaries who think they know the whole story of the other.
This is a delicious, delightful romance that brings all the feels, all the heat, and all the happiness any couple could deserve. It was a joy to read, and one that I know I’ll be reading again. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Caroline, who was to marry Taran’s brother John before his untimely death, is now betrothed to the brother Taran in a deal handled by Taran’s father and Caroline’s uncle. By marrying his niece to a Lord, her uncle would achieve the status he has always wanted. There is a lot going on in this story, a masked ball, her father’s murder, his sister eloping, threats of two duels and the attempt to kill Taran. There is a HEA but a lot happens first which adds to all the action in the book. I would highly recommend this book as a great read.
What The Highlanders Improper Wife lacks in plot and character development more than makes up for in the verra hawt sex, sex, and did I mention, SEX? So if you are looking for an erotica read set to the background of a regency masque where the theme is “Let’s get it on” and a HEA between a reluctant bride and groom that have a lust to love relationship, then this is the story for you.

I enjoyed reading this book. There is plenty of erotic pleasure in this story. It would have been an even better book if there had been more information about the deception, murder and the cover up. I felt bad for the heroine because she was being married off by her uncle for a reason, I still am not sure why. The main storyline is about a woman seeking a rare evening of pleasure before a loveless and heartless marriage. Come to find out the evening of passion was spent with her betrothed. Now the subplot is a little murky. From what I can tell the uncle is guilty of some serious crimes and has done some horribly drastic things to cover it up. What I don’t get is how does the heroine fit into the uncle’s plan or not fit. There is room for improvement in this story but I did like the romance plot. I would definitely read another book by these authors. I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I just finished reading this book and….hold on, I need to take another cold shower. Ok, this story was HOT, HOT, HOT!!!! I absolutely adored the hero and heroine, Caroline and Taran. They have so much chemistry, it leaps from the pages and I really did love everything about the story. Not one boring page at all throughout the book, it’s steamy scenes and action all the way through. Very well written and I look forward to reading many more Tarah Scott books!!
