Oh Heather! She has outdone herself! The Campbells book 4 is by far the best! Alana is probably the toughest, strongest Highland Rose, having been violently thrown into her castle (by the English), while it was burning. She has scars to prove her strength but nightmares to keep her haunted! After losing his father, Shaw Sinclair has had to witness his abusive uncle beat/kill his mother and gamble & lose his ancestral home to Alana’s uncle. He is offered a deal, deliver the infant English princess to St Andrews alive and well so she can be taken to safety and cared for in France. Enemies/English have other ideas. They want the princess dead. They are hunting Shaw and his warriors and Shaw needs help. Mostly, he needs another wet nurse. Their wet nurse has died and trying to feed an infant is impossible. Enter the Samhain festival. Alana and the other Roses (women warriors…think wonder woman!) are attending along with Robert (Alana’s ill mannered but faithful Irish Wolfhound) and Shaw asks Alana how to feed a baby without a wet nurse. MEN! She explains how to clean, feed and love an infant. Shaw is mesmerized by Alana. He decides to steal Alana and MAKE her help him, thinking she is a weak lass. HA HA is Shaw in for a surprise!!! This story Demands your attention from the very first sentence and keeps you captivated until the end, and boy what an ending. Hint…when the other Highland Roses show up, the Sinclairs had better watch out!!
The Campbells #4, This can be read as a stand alone. I did take a bit before I really got into the book but overall I did like it. Alana Campbell is one fierce lady when Shaw Sinclair kidnapped her to take care of the baby she didn’t go easily and Shaw didn’t walk away unscathed. What annoyed Alana so much was that she had just received news that the mother she thought dead was alive and held prisoner. Alana was trying to convince her people to rush to rescue her when Shaw distracted her. But once she realizes they are going in the same direction she makes a deal she helps them they help her.
Along the way the sexual tension between Shaw and Alana grows stronger. Shaw tries to remember he’s doing this for his clan but his feelings for Alana and the baby grow deeper.
Overall, I did enjoy it, it was a nice read. As I said it took me a while to get into it, it was nothing in particular it just didn’t grab me until almost halfway through. I did like the characters I really liked Shaw. It had a nice strong finish and very nice HEA.
Another wonderful Highland Rose has found her mate. Alana is a fierce warrior determined to never be vulnerable again. As she and the Roses attend Samhain she is taking stock of a fierce Sinclair warrior that has garnered her attention. Shaw is the Sinclair Chief and his sole focus and mission is to keep the baby alive in order to reclaim his family lands. He is struggling to care for the babe and kidnaps Alana for help.
This is a fast paced story with fun characters and an amazing dog who shows up unexpected everywhere. There is plenty of action as they battle the English enemy soldiers. Alana and strikes a bargain for the journey but the heat between them cannot be ignored. They are constantly battling to stay alive but that doesn’t prevent them from fulfilling their desires. The Roses show once again that they are group to be reckoned with as they come to Alana’s rescue. You will enjoy turning the pages as all is revealed and another Rose blossoms.
The Highland Outlaw starts out with the premise of a small child being taken to safety. The missive charges Shaw Sinclair the job of delivering the baby girl.
Shaw is Laird of the Sinclair Clan and whilst promising to deliver a baby to safety, the wet nurse (a woman employed to breastfeed another woman’s child) he employs dies on the journey, spotting his chance he uses every trick in the book to persuade Alana to join him……
Alana is sick aand tired of being under appreciated. No one takes her seriously!! And finding out her mother is alive (in previous books it was thought she had died) spurs Alana on to find and rescue her. Her help comes in the form of charming if not slightly rude Shaw Sinclair.
Their journey is fraught with danger, people are after the child, and will stop at nothing to achieve it.
But lies have a habit of surfacing, Campbell’s and Sinclair’s are sworn enemies, but as the journey progresses, it’s getting harder and harder to remain enemies, and pretending to be husband and wife is blurring the lines.
Double dealings, treachery, betrayal and lots of action keep this book going at a great pace.
So why does Shaw have to deliver this baby? And to whom? Is she special in anyway? What happens if the baby doesn’t get delivered? And will Alana find her mother? And these secrets that Shaw and Alana have, will it really spell the end of this Laird and his feisty lass?
Another good book in The Campbell series. We’ve met a few of the characters in this book in previous stories, so it was nice to add a little more background to it all.
