From the New York Times bestselling author of The Weekenders comes a delightful new novel about new love, old secrets, and the kind of friendship that transcends generations. When ninety-nine-year-old heiress Josephine Bettendorf Warrick summons Brooke Trappnell to Talisa Island, her 20,000 acre remote barrier island home, Brooke is puzzled. Everybody in the South has heard about the eccentric … has heard about the eccentric millionaire mistress of Talisa, but Brooke has never met her. Josephine’s cryptic note says she wants to discuss an important legal matter with Brooke, who is an attorney, but Brooke knows that Mrs. Warrick has long been a client of a prestigious Atlanta law firm.
Over a few meetings, the ailing Josephine spins a tale of old friendships, secrets, betrayal and a long-unsolved murder. She tells Brooke she is hiring her for two reasons: to protect her island and legacy from those who would despoil her land, and secondly, to help her make amends with the heirs of the long dead women who were her closest friends, the girls of The High Tide Club–so named because of their youthful skinny dipping escapades–Millie, Ruth and Varina. When Josephine dies with her secrets intact, Brooke is charged with contacting Josephine’s friends’ descendants and bringing them together on Talisa for a reunion of women who’ve actually never met.
The High Tide Club is Mary Kay Andrews at her Queen of the Beach Reads best, a compelling and witty tale of romance thwarted, friendships renewed, justice delivered, and true love found.

Great beach read.
Great summer read! Lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing.
A good beach read! Easy to follow.
What a fun book. All her books are.
Josephine Bettendorf is 99 years old and has kept a secret her entire life. She wants to finally come clean to her oldest friends and or their descendants. As Josephine’s story unfolds in 1940-41, it is mirrored in the story of Brooke, Lizzie and Felicia. I found this book a bit more serious than MKA’s usual books but no less entertaining. As usual, you can feel the heat and humidity of a Georgia summer in her writing.
Mary Kay Andrew is one of my favorite authors and I just love her books. This book is a great enjoy yourself weekend type of book. Her characters draw you in and it’s impossible to put it down.
Good beach read!
Great summer read
Mary Kay Andrews’ books are always a good read. Her characters are interesting and moving.
When ninety-nine year old Josephine finds out she is going to die she hires Brooke to find her old friends who were part of The High Tide Club. She wants them found so she can make amends to them and leave them her estate but the problem is she hasn’t kept in contact with them so the search won’t be easy.
Josephine tells a story about what happened years ago. We learn about secrets they kept. She tells about the great friendships.
I only gave this four stars because there were parts that went slow. It caught my attention enough that I kept reading wanting to know what happened next but I like stories that move along at the same speed through out the story.
You can not go wrong with anything by this author.
Great book! Love Mary Kay Andrews. All her books are good!
