Lead the way?Yeah, right. All leading the way had gotten Tate was a seat too close to a roadside bomb and a psych eval gone sideways. He was benched from the Army for months while he healed, but he wasn’t going to mope around about one unlucky incident. He was going to get better and return to active duty, in just a few more weeks. In the meantime, he needs to keep busy so he can stop climbing … the walls. Tate agrees to pick up a couple extra bucks, and hit the road, working security for a hot little author his buddy wants protected. What could go wrong with a cake job like that? After all, Lyla is a writer, not a terrorist. However, Tate’s little temp job soon turns all kinds of complicated. When a mysterious fan starts getting too close for comfort on her book tour, he begins to suspect that he’s not the only one who’s fallen for Lyla’s charms. It looks like some of the pretty bookworm’s gritty research has followed her into the real world-and it’s none too happy to find Tate barring the door. Can he find the person scaring Lyla out of her wits before something truly bad happens? Or will his inconvenient crush keep him from completing the one mission more important than any other? Suddenly, this job’s about more than guarding an asset? Tate’s protecting the woman who holds his heart in her hands.

The Hero was Handsome has undeniable attraction and delightful banter between the characters. This story will also kept you on the edge of your seat with the mystery and suspense as Lyla and Tate try to evade Lyla’s stalker.
But be prepared when you get this, it is long but well worth your time to get lost in Lyla and Tate’s world.

Lyla Lawson was getting some crazy messages from a stalker, so before her publisher Red sends her out on a book tour he wanted to bring his army captain friend on medical leave Tate Monroe on to be her bodyguard. Of course like any good romance with the two characters in close proximity they develop feelings for each other. Her stalker escalates to crazy obsessive figuring out where they are staying even when they try to evade and switch vehicles and hotels and sensing messages that are increasingly disturbing. There was plenty of suspense as they try to figure out who it is while keeping Lyla safe. There were some funny moments too like when vegetarian Lyla baited the fishing line without a hook with lettuce because she didn’t want to hurt the fish. This a nice conclusion to the series.
The third book in the Triple Threat but the first book I have read in this series. I now want to read the other books in this series. A well written story with a very good storyline. Tate Monroe and Lyla Lawson’s story there is suspense, drama, a stalker, and romance. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Suddenly, this job’s about more than guarding an asset.
Lyla’s picked up a stalker. Red, her boss, hires his friend, Tate, to be her bodyguard on a book tour. Things begin to heat up between them, even as her stalker seems to know their every move. This book is long. I mean long. Really long. It is not at all boring. It doesn’t drag ever. The story flows well. But the book takes forever to read. This is not necessarily a bad thing, just a comment. Now to the good things in this book…Tate – a swoon-worth book boyfriend if ever there was one, he’s handsome, hot, hunky. Lyla – besides being smart and successful, she’s so strong, petrified of what’s going on, and she still manages to put on a smile and do what has to be done. Her stalker – at some point, I had figured out who he probably was, but that wasn’t confirmed until much later. And I had no idea what he would do or when. Tate’s friends, Luca and Red – thank goodness that someone’s willing to kick Tate’s butt when he’s being an idiot. This is my first book from this author – now I need to read the others in the series.
