One Last Scandal, for Old Time’s Sake …
A Hero’s HomecomingLieutenant Callum Laughlin has spent four long years at war. What awaits him at Somerton is far from the warm welcome he imagined.
A Hellion’s HeartacheLady Heloise Somers … welcome he imagined.
A Hellion’s Heartache
Lady Heloise Somers has carefully rebuilt her life, tucking away her wild nature. In the last four years, she has chosen to trade the life of a noble and any hopes for marriage in favor of becoming a midwife and spinster “aunt” to her secret daughter. She never expected to see the father of her child again, but Callum Laughlin’s return from the Continent throws her world into chaos. One wrong step could shatter the lies she has carefully constructed and reveal her scandalous truth to the world.
History, Healing, and Hope
As the Somers family gathers to celebrate the New Year, Heloise does her best to keep her distance from Callum, lest he discover her secret. When disaster sparks in the nearby township, the two are forced to work together to save the people they care about.
Rebuilding the township is no easy matter, and the lure of old feelings and new temptations catch both Heloise and Callum in their grip. Is the broken love between them beyond repair, or can it be mended through love, forgiveness, and a touch of irresistible attraction?
The Hero and the Hellion is the third installment in The Somerton Scandals series, but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone story. If you enjoy steamy love scenes, passionate romance, and a sweet happily ever after, grab your copy today!

4 1/2 Stars! Book three in the Somerton Scandals series. Can be read and enjoyed as stand-alone, but I recommend reading the series in order including the prequel novella. The secondary characters are the same throughout the series. Full length told in dual POV with HEA. I really liked Callum and Heloise’s story! It is a second chance adult historical romance that I could not put down. I loved the epilogue and I will be reading the next in the series!
Love the Somerton Scandals series
Good story, but to much sex.
Didn’t like characters. Didn’t enjoy story. Thumbs down
Lt Callum Laughlin spent four long years at war. He finally has enough status and fortune to return to Yorkshire and reclaim the woman of his dreams. He could never have wed her when he was a mere groom. What awaits him at Somerton is far from the warm welcome he imagined. Lady Heloise Somers carefully rebuilt her life, tucking away her wild nature. In the last four years, she chose to trade the life of a noble and any hopes for marriage in favor of becoming a midwife and spinster “aunt to her secret daughter. She never expected to see the father of her child again, but Callum’s return from the Continent throws her world into chaos. One wrong step could shatter the lies she carefully constructed and reveal her scandalous truth to the world. – I loved this book. Heloise is feisty, independent, and smart. I admired her strength and boldness. Callum is loyal and dependable. Their story is interesting, and their daughter is precious. She adds to the story.
Satisfying end to the trilogy. Love watching characters evolve over the tree books.
I enjoyed reading this book. It reads like a fairy tale, as the book begins. The daughter of a viscount who falls in love with the stable boy. A happily ever after doesn’t seem to be in it. The stable boy, Callum, thinks he is not enough for her class and decides to report as a soldier, leaving Helouise to earn his fortun not knowing that she is pregnant with him.
Life is not easy for Helouise if she has to hide from outsiders that she is an unmarried mother. In the time where the story plays, that is a great sin. When Callum returns from the war, they don’t know where they stand opposite each other, but their feelings are all but quenched. A major fire in their village forces Helouise and Callum to work together. Can their love blossom again? And how will he respond to their child?
A wonderful book to read

This was great for getting your mind off the pandemic. Smooth reading and rebuilding the town was interesting
Thought it was a lovely book.
Great book–series is wonderful
OK story. Not very memorable. Everything was too easy for the characters, not much conflict or growth.
I found myself living in the vivid, tragic scenes early in the book.
Meh. Unrealistic modern language.
What a great ending of a wonderful series! Lady Heloise Somers is introduced in book 1 as the cruel nemesis of Gloriana Blakely at finishing school. One prank too many sees her sent home early to re-kindle her childhood romance with Callum Laughlin, son of the housekeeper and stable boy. With her direct ways, Heloise and Callum discover their attraction and growing love. But Callum is determined to be worthy of a viscount’s sister and prove himself. By the time she must go back to school, the unthinkable has occurred. Heloise discover she is carrying his child. Meanwhile, Callum is swept away by circumstances which sees him accompanying family friend, Sheldon Bywater, Marquis of Moorvale to the military in France. Four years pass and finally Lieutenant Laughlin comes home with honor and enough of a fortune to offer Heloise marriage. He has no idea that in his absence Heloise had his daughter, Callie, and built up a career as a midwife. Heloise wanted to brave the ire of her family and society and marry a simple stable boy. Angry for his leaving her to bear all this turmoil alone and passing her daughter off as an orphan from America (her mother comes from Philadelphia) she is determined to keep her distance. But a fire brings them together and the deep love that never could be ignored. A beautiful romance of the strength and courage of a young girl and the love she could never deny. Couldn’t put it down!!!
Wonderful read
One wonderful read. I was anxious to read exactly what made Heloise into the Hellion she was in the previous book. The Hel I found in this was not quite as hellish she seemed more mature. I was glad that she and Callum found their way back to each other. There’s also a little snippet concerning the ancient Greeks in chapter seven.

Can They Pick Up Where They Left Off?
This book is the final one about the Somers’ siblings. We have seen glimpses of Heloise’s story in the other two books. Now it is time for her HEA. But what a convoluted road it is. I found the very beginning of the book a little confusing with the fairy tale and the heroine’s nightly struggles with her dreams, and these only really made more sense later. The Heloise we meet in this book has grown up in so many ways, mostly because she bore her her stable hand boyfriend’s daughter alone, but with the support of her family, while he went off to seek his fortune so he could marry her. He didn’t feel right living off of her dowry. He leaves with barely a word back then and doesn’t know she is with child.
But all that is prologue before this story. Now, some four years later, Heloise must keep up the pretense that she is her daughter’s aunt. The boyfriend returns from war, hoping to pick up where they left off. She’s conflicted on many levels, as she felt abandoned by him and subsequently went through so much in his absence. So they’re meeting is certainly not quite what he expected his homecoming to be. She is conflicted about whether or not to tell him about their daughter. As they’re both trying to figure out what to do next, a fire overtakes the township that her brother’s viscountcy holds. Things also get a little steamy in the aftermath, which I found surprising because of the way that she was feeling towards him at the time.
I found this book surprisingly engaging and quite the page-turner. I really quite liked the hero, who felt out of place coming home after four years at war; he simply wanted the woman he loved. Like the heroine, I wasn’t quite sure what his reaction was going to be about his daughter, but it actually was a quite beautifully done scene that brought tears to my eyes. The Somers are quite a complex family, and I’ve enjoyed reading about them in this series.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Callum and Heloise were in love once, and when he comes back after four years at war the feelings they had for each other comes back. But will the secret she’s been keeping from him makes it hard for them to have a happily ever after?
“She knew.” Heloise Summers could feel a shift in the air. Then there he was, Callum was back.- paraphrased. It had been four years since she had last seen him when he went off to war. Leaving her and she was a different person now. So much had happened.
A young love that was wonderful, then Callum had gone to war in order to make his fortune and improve his status from a stable boy. Be worthy of Lady Heloise. But he did not receive the welcome back he expected.
She had survived by being an “aunt” to her daughter, a product of their love and turned herself into a midwife, determined to be a spinster.
But fate has a way of bringing the past forward and the two are thrown back together. Can they find the old love they had for each other?
A truly wonderful heartwarming story that I could not stop once I turned the first page. Don’t miss it.
A great read. It is exciting, emotional and has danger, suspense, surprises and much more. He goes away and doesn’t come back until he has and is what he wants. . But things don’t always stay the same. and then add in the surprise of his daughter. Can things ever be mended? I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
The third book in The Somerton Scandals series another well written story with a great storyline in this series. I hope there is going to be more in this series. This is Lieutenant Callum Laughlin and Lady Heloise Somers’ story, and the secret she has not told him about. To date this is my favorite in the series.
