For anyone who’s ever been on the receiving end of an unsolicited dick pic… one scam artist and troll at a time, and I sometimes bend a few rules to get justice done.
He’s a military man with abs of glory, sworn to uphold the letter of the law no matter its shortcomings. And if he’d known who—or what—I was, I doubt he would’ve banged me at my best friend’s wedding reception.
Or come back for more.
Which is why he’s now the only thing standing between me and one very pissed off internet troll who’s figured out where I live.
I’m pretty sure he’ll get me out of this alive—and quite satisfied, thank you very much—but I’m also pretty sure this mission will end with me in handcuffs.
And not the good kind of handcuffs.
The Hero and the Hacktivist is a romping fun SEAL / Best Friend’s Brother / Robin Hood in Cyberspace romance between a meathead and an heiress, complete with epic klutziness, terrible leg warmers, and an even worse phone virus gone wrong. This romantic comedy stands alone with no cheating or cliffhangers and ends with a fabulously fun happily ever after.

First off I will start by saying I love all of Pippa Grant’s books. They always make me laugh when I don’t think anything else will. Her sense of humor is brilliant and meshes so well with mine, she was destined to be one of my favorite authors.
Now to the good part. We have all been waiting impatiently for Eloise’s story because she has always been a mystery to us in all of the other books. She comes off as a brash, horribly flirtatous, and a little freaky. Then we have Rhett who we met in some of the previous books. He is a tough, serious Navy Seal. You just had to know that when these two met sparks were going to fly. On top of that, Eloise has seemed to upset the wrong person and now she is getting threaten. Rhett, with the help of a few new characters and several old ones, is out to protect Eloise and show her she is not alone in the world.
This books has some of the funniest scenes that Pippa has ever done and I don’t know how many times I busted out laughing disturbing my husband’s sleep. If you are in the need of something to brighten your week and give you all the feels, you need this book.
Oh my, this book had me chuckling & swooning & flipping pages so fast. I love these characters & the snarky & witty banter that they give out to each other. I also love the way they care for their families & friends & will do anything for them.
Okay, so when you laugh loud enough to wake your dogs in another room, you know that you’re greatly enjoying a book. Seriously, I may have peed a little in a few parts of The Hero and the Hacktivist.
I absolutely loved gruff, grumbly Rhett and zany, fun Eloise. They’re so opposite in personality that they’re absolutely perfect for each other. Rhett needs Eloise and her brand of crazy in his life—he needs to loosen up after all those years in the military. And Eloise needs someone to stay—someone solid and loves her just as she is. Well, maybe reigning her in just a skosh on her hacktivism . . . but don’t ask, don’t tell, right?
Seriously, I couldn’t read The Hero and the Hacktivist fast enough to see just how Rhett and Eloise were going to get out of what was happening in leg warmer-gate. How Willow, Parker and Sia were going to hinder . . . err . . . help Rhett and his investigation. And whoa, did Rhett investigate—all of Eloise and loved every bit.
The Hero and the Hacktivist is a hilarious, smart, sexy, sweet romance that will leave you in stitches and with a big ol’ smile on your face. I know my grin is still there days later when I think about all the hilarity that unfolded. ~ Missy, 5 “Ass of Glory” stars
The wait for this book was absolutely worth it. This is one of my favorite books by Pippa Grant since The Pilot and the Puck-Up. So absolutely wonderful! We have gotten glimpses of Eloise in the books before, basically enough to be afraid of her and we had a few snippets of Rhett during Stud in the Stacks, but this military man is exactly what this crazy chaotic girl needs!
Eloise is a hacktivist heiress that is a huge BADASS. She is basically Batman, if Batman fought crime in cyber space. She does not like people that make fools of others and rights those wrongs by basically ruining their lives then. She is band mates with Sia, Parker, and Willow and have known them for 5 years, but even so, they can’t actually say that they KNOW her. Eloise is odd as hell, but it is refreshing that she marches to the beat of her own drum. She has a reason for doing this and pushing others away, though we really don’t know why in the beginning.
Rhett is a Navy Seal that had a mission go horribly wrong and his team was disassembled and he is currently working for the recruitment office and is so bored he wants to bang his head against the wall. They end up hooking up at Knox and Parker’s wedding when Eloise asks him if he wants to bang, and he was like sure why not.
One and done and Eloise is sure she will never see him again because duh, he’s a Seal and won’t be around… which is not the case AT ALL! Weeks pass and Eloise is like a spark that gives Rhett the excitement that he craves. She admits (to herself) that she wants him too, but a lot of crazy is going on with her life so she is going to make him work for it. She also doesn’t understand why he likes her or seems to find her endearing.
The story really starts getting good when Eloise gets in trouble and Rhett wants to be a hero, actually he LIVES for it. In fact one of my favorite scenes depicts this, which you will just have to read the book to see the context of it. Not gonna lie, I am fanning myself just thinking about it!
Regardless, this book is AMAZING and you really need to check it out. It has it all- danger, sexy time, romance, comedy, and some really off the wall characters which just brings it all home!
PS: I received this book for free as an ARC in return for my honest opinion.
Somehow, every book I read by this author gets more hilarious and more outrageous. This time we get the story of Eloise, drummer in an all girl boy band cover band, and Rhett, brother of bandmate Parker. Eloise, hacker extraordinaire, has chosen the wrong target to take down by reallocating millions from the leg warmer company he runs, posing as a woman and scamming trusting women out of their hard-earned money. Navy SEAL Rhett happens to be in the right place at the right time to spirit Eloise away, escaping the clutches of the leg warmer goons who are after her.
Each book in this series of interconnected standalones is terrific, but Grant pulled out all the stops on this one. With every corny euphemism for sexy bits you’ve ever heard and a few you never thought of, and hilariously autocorrected texts from Parker’s unique and always entertaining phone, this book had me laughing through every page. Along with the hilarity there’s plenty of heat, but the truly special thing about this book is its heart. Eloise behaves ridiculously and makes outrageous statements in order to keep people at arms length. Not only is she scared that being close to someone gives them the power to hurt her, she’s afraid she will eventually let down those she loves. Yet somehow, Rhett sees the real Eloise, the amazing, strong, intelligent woman beneath the false bravado, and slips past her defenses, and for Eloise it’s terrifying and thrilling. And terrifying. There’s just something special about seeing a loveable, prickly-on-the-outside but vulnerable-on-the-inside character find their forever love.
Returning to Pippa’s book world is always a treat, and catching up with characters I’ve come to know and love is like coming home. If you’ve never read her work, you’re seriously missing out, so start with this book and then catch up on the other characters’ love stories. And if you’re already a Pippa fan, I don’t have to sell you on this book because you’ve probably already grabbed it. So get comfortable and dig in to this zany and hilarious but touching and heartfelt book today! I can’t recommend this author’s work enough — my life certainly has a lot more laughter in it since I started reading Grant’s books.
Read this! Just read it! I laughed SO hard at Eloise and Rhett and I loved them so much.
Eloise is not your average heroine. She doesn’t want to be your average heroine. If you called her average she would hurt you (or hack you and make your life miserable). And I absolutely loved her. Rhett is a hero. Seriously, he has saved a lot of lives. And the absolute best thing about him? He is awesome and loved Eloise just as she is, crazy and all. I loved him too! When they realize they love each other? Hello! Fantastic!
Another amazing read from Pippa Grant!
The Hero and the Hacktivist by Pippa Grant is a full length, standalone, with ties to her previous books – Berger twins for president !
Meet Rhett Elliott. He’s a SEAL, now deployed to the wilds of New York. He’s at his sister Parker’s wedding and has the cliché encounter with a bridesmaid.
Eloise Jayne is a mystery. She’s a heiress, drummer in a girl band and at night she’s a hacker for law and order. She’s a bit weird, clumsy and speaks to Rhett’s protectiveness. She calls him Gabe – the reason is so so hilarious, it made me laugh till I cried.
The Hero and the Hacktivist is a witty and fun read with just the right amount of drama and danger to keep me at the edge of my seat. A typical Pippa Grant book. I greatly enjoyed reading the book and give 4,5 stars.
Oh my God this book! Guys, every single person needs this book in their lives. I am legit going to try to get at least one person to read the brilliance that is Pippa, and I’m going to encourage that friend to get one of their friends, and so on and so forth, the world needs these kinds of sweet- adorkable- belly laugh inducing- light hearted- romantic- dirty- sweetness -like everything good in the world all rolled up in a nice package- book! It was honestly just so perfectly what I needed in my life, there is too much darkness right now, bring on the good times! We all need a break from the stress, this book is a perfect little vacation to the world in this marvelous author’s mind and I so want to live there! This book was about Eloise and Rhett, but their love is just one factor, there is so much going on in this book, I just loved every single minute of it! All the favorites from previous books show up, peppered throughout, but this can be read as a stand alone, but really you want to read the others! I laughed so hard tears streamed down my cheeks. When I was alone that was fine but hubby was like ‘funny book?’ and I tried but honestly couldn’t encapsulate the humor of Parker’s phone auto corrects as I tried to explain them to him. It was almost a ‘you had to be there’ thing, but its not like I was THERE, but therein lies the genius of this author’s work. More than anyone in recent memory, she makes the reader feel like they are in the story, which is why I think I love her words the most and think everyone should read them too!
The Hero and the Hacktivist is by Pippa Grant. Going in to any of Pippa’s books, you know in advance you are going to get plenty of crazy, zany, steamy, sexy fun. But you are also going to get characters that are good to the core, that have insecurities and a huge heart. Characters you can’t help but to love.
Rhett Elliott is Parker’s (from Stud in the Stacks) brother. He is a Navy Seal but is currently stuck behind a desk at the local recruiting office due to a mission gone bad. He’s not at all happy with this but he’s also got his hands full helping out one of his teammates who I’m hoping we might get to know more about in a future book. I really liked him.
We have met the mysterious Eloise Jayne in the other books. She is the drummer in the girl’s band and seems to be feared by all. There is so much to Eloise that I want to tell you about but I’m afraid I’ll say too much. First of all, she is a computer hacker. She calls herself a hacktivist, cleaning up the cesspool of cyberspace one scam artist and troll at a time, and she sometimes bends a few rules to get justice done. She also has a huge addiction to Twizzlers. Eloise comes on super strong, she has come on to everyone of her band mates brothers at one time or another. They all think she’s strange and no one ever takes her up on her offers. Until Parker’s wedding, until Rhett.
As you get to know Eloise, you really see that there is so much more to her. And so does Rhett. Her number one priority is her brother. Other than that, she keeps to herself and her computers, righting the wrongs of cyperspace one troll at a time. I think she doesn’t feel like she is loveable. As the book moves along and she has gotten herself in trouble, she seems amazed that the other women in her band actually care about her, are worried about her. And she doesn’t know what Rhett sees in her. I loved watching her amazement as she realizes that these people truly care about her. But, I’m getting ahead of myself here.
“It’s the first time in my life someone outside of my family has really cared to get me. Despite knowing the ‘me’ I show the world.”
Eloise might have gotten herself in a bit over her head with her latest project. Somehow the person she was after figured out where she lives and he’s after her. Of course, Rhett comes to the rescue. But he doesn’t really know what she’s done. Rhett is a Navy Seal. He lives by rules and laws. She works around them.
Rhett can’t get Eloise out of his head. He knows she’s up to something and he wants to help her. He also knows that when his desk punishment is over, he’ll be leaving again. He’s not planning on staying. But until then, he wants to explore what this thing is between them.
“Her touch both ignites me and soothes a deep ache in my soul. It’s like finding a missing piece. That last thing that makes me feel like I don’t entirely fit. That this chaos inside me isn’t a flaw.”
This was so much crazy fun. These two were definitely two halves of a whole. Rhett saw through all of Eloise’s bluster and saw the person she kept hidden. Pippa Grant has such a talent for writing characters like this. Characters that keep themselves hidden away until just the right person comes along and sees right through it all. So, buckle your seat belts for this one, ladies. And maybe stock up on Twizzlers! You’re in for a sweet, sexy, wild ride. Pippa Grant’s books always seem to make my days just a little bit brighter. I hope the same for you.
From librarians to hockey stars, rock gods to SEALs, Pippa Grant never fails to deliver a cracking good story with a top notch couple and with this book she continued to keep up the standard.
The Hero and the Hacktivist features Eloise, the last single member of the all girl ‘boyband’ to find love. She’s the mysterious, badass, the girl with the sassy come-ons and sexy smiles, but she’s hiding some deep seated hurts behind her devil may care act. And after one cyber incident goes awry, she ends up needing help from the last guy she should ever contemplate asking. When she hooks up with Rhett during Parker’s wedding, she’s not looking for her soulmate just to get laid, but she gets more than she bargained for.
We’ve met Rhett a in a few previous books, and know he’s a tough cookie and takes down the bad guys, he’s also Parker’s brother.
Now, it’s this stud muffins turn to shine. He’s the hero in this story in more ways than one. He’s hot, and sexy and can take three guys out without blinking an eye or breaking a sweat. But, when he’s in Eloise’s arm, he’s putty in her hands, well, not really, certainly not a certain appendage that she’s extremely fond of.
These two were cooky, sexy, sassy and their banter made me smile. I loved how Rhett slowly broke down not just his barriers, but Eloise’s too. Their chemistry was off the charts, they fit so well together and I loved every scene with them and the rest of the group, friends and family alike.
I really liked the new secondary characters, and I have to admit I squeed at the ‘Easter Egg’ that Pippa laid near the beginning of the story, I thought that meant she’d decided a certain character was going to be next to get a book. Turns out I was wrong. So sad!! If you’re curious to find out who I mean, sign up for Pippa’s newsletter and read the Honey and the Squirrel installments.
Looking for a sassy, fiesty, crazy fun and super steamy good time? Then you will SO WANT to read The Hero And The Hactivist by Pippa Grant. Its so funny and fun and quirky and sexy as all get out! And the characters…oh boy, are they awesome. The banter is witty and kind of cute in a quirky way and I couldn’t seem to stop smiling. And there is a sprinkle of heart that makes everything…complete.
I have loved and enjoyed many of Pippa Grant’s rom-coms. But even I have to say this one is just exxxxxtra special. I just fell in love with the plot and storyline and these characters. Everything about this book called to me and I can’t wait to read it again!
The Hero And The Hactivist gets a WILD AND FUN FIVE GLORIOUS STARS!
WHOA BABY! First, this is by Pippa Grant, so you know you are going to be laughing until you pee your pants. Second, you know there is going to be lots of action. Third, well you will just have to read to find out what I’m talking about.
When you are feeling a little out of sorts and need a great laugh, read a Pippa Grant book, they will ALWAYS make you laugh.
Rhett and Eloise are to say the most opposite couple, until you get to know them better. OH my what a ride this book is, snarky comments, wild sex, and some mafia, human trafficking and you have the recipe for success!!!
10 Super Stars!!
The Hero and the Hacktivist by Pippa Grant is the story of Rhett and Eloise.
Rhett and Eloise are such opposites that after some bickering lead to some hot encounters. Rhett is the prefect ‘book boyfriend’ with some hot alpha maleness. Eloise is a great leading lady with some funnest that leads to some funny scenes.
I will be looking for more books by this author…enjoyed this one!
The Hero and the Hacktivist by Pippa Grant is a fun and zany romantic comedy told in dual POV. Although characters from previous books appear in the story, this book is a standalone and can be enjoyed without reading the others.
Rhett is an alpha Navy SEAL and Parker’s brother. Eloise is a quirky heiress, computer hacker, and the drummer in the band with Sia (Mister McHottie), Parker (Stud in the Stacks), and Willow (Rockaway Bride). Together, Eloise and Rhett are wonderfully weird and completely perfect for each other.
With wedding sex, the dick pic phone virus, threats from the leg warmer mafia, and sexy times with Twizzlers and coconut oil… this story was wildly hilarious and great fun!
*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***
This book needs to come with a warning to not be drinking while reading. Drinking of any kind. I nearly laugh snorted my coffee out my nose I laughed so hard at a few of the crazy lines! You can read this book as a stand alone, but it is part of the Pippa-verse, so there are lots of characters to get to know from other books, with details only found in them. Very easily enjoyed alone, but even better when you can binge read all of Ms. Grant’s hilarious writing!
Our Hero, aka Rhett, meeting our Hactivist, aka Eloise, at a mutual friend’s wedding. And through a series of laugh out loud, cringe worthy and unforgettable moments, the two set out to right some wrongs. Despite their oil and water issues, the two manage to work together for the greater good, and then manage to see how their own idiosyncrasies work for a relationship…showing there really is someone out there for everyone!
Y’all, Eloise and Rhett are just too much. Eloise is just the most interesting computer nerd ever, with her bright colored and eclectic hard shell, but with a soft nougaty sweet inside. She comes off all blustery and brave, and is so strong alone… Rhett is one hot military man, and Eloise’s uh, individualism doesn’t seem to turn him off. He’s a by the books kind of guy though, while Eloise is more of a do the wrong thing for the right reason. She’s a lone wolf who is hasn’t had a pack to enjoy and he has a family and brotherhood. So many differences, but they both want to stand up for what’s right!
Eloise and Rhett are seriously combustible! They want in each others pants (or dress), and despite trying to keep their cool and maintain friendships and self-imposed relationship rules they can’t keep their bits to themselves. Even though the don’t understand each other at first and try to keep each other at bay, they turn each other on in the most bizarre and endearing ways.
I loved the lively and entertaining dialogue these characters had. It was an absolute riot! Not only funny and sexy romance, there was a bit of a criminal mystery to the story to keep it interesting. I kept reading until way past my bedtime to see how it would all work out.
Conclusion – Recap how you felt about the book. Will you read other books by this author? Would you recommend this book to others? Final thoughts on book.
A great addition to Ms. Grant’s work. I loved getting to know more about Eloise, after getting to know her first in Rockaway Bride. I’ve read a few other books by Ms. Grant, and can’t wait to read more to get to know some of the other characters I’ve read about. And more zany text conversations, royal romance, and convoluted relationships.

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..Can I tell you that I love Pippa? Well I do and I have been anxiously awaiting for Rhett’s story and it didn’t let me down. So we finally got Parker and Knox’s wedding (Yay!) and while there Knox is ready for a one night stand and he ends up having it with Eloise (can you believe it) and let me tell she is crazy! and hilarious..I loved reading more about her, we always knew that she was a little nuts but to read about her, it was unimaginable and it was cute how Rhett was so protective of him and still a badass Seal. As always I love catching up with the rest of the cast, and can’t wait until the rest of the Parker’s brothers story come and hopefully Parker has a little Knox!..Enjoy! because you will
If you want a laugh out loud, smexy as hell read, look no further!
Pippa Grant writes hysterically funny stories with heart and heat.
This is Eloise and Rhett’s story. We know Eloise as the quirky, smart and sassy friend. But now we see her vulnerability and her weak spots. We see her as more of a person and less as tempest in a teacup! She is fabulous in her own way. Marching to the beat of her drum!
Rhett is the quintessential hero. His career is everything to him. He thrives on chaos. When he meets Eloise he know she is just the right type of chaos he craves. He is protective and a bit of an alpha-hole. But what he does with coconut oil made me fall in love with him!
Their chemistry is hawt! They are just what each other needs!
The dialogue is fantastic! It’s fast paced, whip smart and oh my gawd funny as hell!
Seeing past characters make appearances just makes the story so much more. The love of the Elliot family is funny and familiar!
Pippa has yet to write a story that isn’t fantastic! Get your grabby hands on this!!
I love Pippa’s books and this one did not disappoint. Eloise is an heiress computer hacker who has a foul mouth, tries to dry hump every man in sight and is a bit chaotic. Rhett is a navy seal relegated to recruitment duty and misses the excitement of his Seal team. After a wedding hookup, Eloise figured Rhett would be another of her one and done guys. Of course, one of her Robin Hood hacking jobs puts her in danger, Rhett is the man to get her out of trouble. This book has Pippa’s usual wit and you get to revisit all of the prior couples from her books. If you want to laugh and enjoy zany characters, this is the book for you. I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.
I’ve read almost all of Pippa Grant’s books so far and just like all of them I couldn’t stop laughing while reading this. Eloise has been a mystery since we first met her in Mister McHottie. So getting inside her head was something that I was looking forward to. Then to find out that it was a best friend’s brother romance? Hell yeah! I have to be honest though, as much as I loved Eloise and her snark there were times when I just wanted her to be real. I love her quirk and her craziness but I also wanted to see the woman hiding behind all the layers. We meet Rhett for the first time in Stud in the Stacks. He was crazy and someone I wanted to get to know; of course I wasn’t sure if we’d actually get to know him or not at that point. He’s a bada** Navy Seal who’s separated from his team and doing work that he hates. He needs a distraction and Eloise ends up giving him one that he desperately needs. These two never saw each other coming, they never expected to fall in love with each other. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, especially the Elliot family texts! I thought I loved the Berger family but they sure have competition in the Elliot family. Great book, great read, great laugh. Looking forward to more!!
