NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From Janet Evanovich, #1 bestselling author of the Stephanie Plum novels, and Lee Goldberg, bestselling author and television writer for Monk, comes the first adventure in an electrifying series featuring an FBI agent who always gets her man, and a fearless con artist who lives for the chase. Nicolas Fox is an international con man, famous for running elaborate … international con man, famous for running elaborate scams on very rich and powerful people. He knows that the FBI has been hot on his trail for years—particularly FBI Special Agent Kate O’Hare. But just when it seems that Fox has been captured for good, he pulls off his greatest con of all: He convinces the FBI to offer him a job, working side by side with O’Hare.
Their first assignment takes them to the side streets of Berlin, the California desert, and remote Indonesian islands as they team up to catch Derek Griffin, a corrupt investment banker charged with stealing millions from his clients. Finding Griffin on his private island is going to test O’Hare’s patience and Fox’s skill. High-speed chases, pirates, and Toblerone bars are all in a day’s work . . . if O’Hare and Fox don’t kill each other first.
BONUS: This edition includes an excerpt from Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg’s The Chase.

So I watched Zootopia this weekend. It was GREAT. It was about anthropomorphic animals. This adorbs bunny cop teams up with a fox con man to solve a mystery. Omg the fox and the hare GET IT?
Anyway I ate it up, and then it was over, and I was sad. So I decided it would be nice to read a book with, say, the same exact plot, aka a good-girl badass cop (FBI Special Agent Kate O’Hare) who had to team up with a sly con man (Nicolas Fox) and they had to solve a mystery.
Oh my god you guys this book was so much fun.
This book is funny. It made me laugh out loud. It’s fast-paced, easy to read, and wildly entertaining. It doesn’t take itself too seriously.
You know how you can tell what kind of book this is? By this description of a former con:
“To pull it off, he somehow got himself hired as the wedding planner and brought in a motley crew of thieves as the caterers. When Kate crashed the wedding with a strike team, Nick’s crew scattered like cockroaches when the lights go on, and Nick parachuted off the top of the building.”
This is RIDICULOUS. People do not parachute off roofs. They do not leave clever gifts for the FBI agent chasing them. I DO NOT CARE. I am into this. This is a glossy, exciting adventure. Kate gets to blow things up AND wear pretty dresses AND eat lots of chocolate.
He’s a smooth trickster who likes his creature comforts. She’s a tough agent who likes her guns. Neither one of them likes that they like the other.
SOLD.
I was a diehard Janet Evanovich fan for many years and would mark the release day for the next Stephanie Plum on my calendar and be one of the first to get and read it. Over time, the series began to lose its luster as the gags became tired and the relationships failed to change. It was thus with trepidation that I decided to try out Evanovich’s new Fox and O’Hare series featuring FBI agent Kate O’Hare and con man Nicholas Fox. It’s a series she co-writes with Lee Goldberg and judging from the first book in the series, it appears they are great writing partners. The Heist had all the flare of the early Plum books. It had humor, wit and some serious smolder. Nicholas Fox was an adorable rogue and Kate was a strong, capable woman (a nice change from Stephanie who tended toward the inept). Add in exotic locales, strong secondary characters and a tight, fast-paced plot and The Heist is a winner.
Verdict: Perfect for fans of the early Stephanie Plum novels
The Heist is a laugh-out-loud novel from start to finish. The first in the Fox and O’Hare Series, I LOVED the down-to-earth, rule following, no frills female main character. And they gave her the perfect match in the quick thinking, no rules should apply male main character. Lots of quick wit, incredibly hilarious situations that they find themselves in along with the development of a mutual respect for one another. The series is HIGHLY addictive, you can’t help but wait impatiently for the next release.
Outstanding grouping of characters. Great plot
with a surprising amount of well-placed subtle humor. My first book by Janet and Lee and I will move right on to another. If you like FBI/CIA thrillers you’ll love this series.
I was a huge fan of the Stephanie Plumb series but then I got burned out on it. I love Janet Evanovich and coupling with Lee Goldberg is genius! O’Hare is tough, no non-sense and fantastic! Fox is sexy, smart and daring! I’m in love with this series. I read the last book and now I am scrambling to find all the ones I missed. This will be a series I listen to over and over again!
The entire Fax series is great.
Aquick and easy read. The two main characters have sparks flying
I absolutely love this book. I would recommend it .
Two fantastic authors pair up for a fantastic book. Action, humor, wonderful characters and a great plot. And it’s only the start of the series. I highly recommend this one.
This book was fun! Tons of action. The authors do well with making it feel like a movie inside of your head! The characters are fun too. It reminds me a bit of the TV show, White Collar.
I loved this ENTIRE series (when Lee Goldberg was the co-author). They are my summer go-to reads every summer. The cons the two main characters pull off are extremely clever and interesting. I also love the Sloooooow burn romance of the two main characters throughout the entire series. Their chemistry is very well-done. And you gotta love a strong female lead who has a rocket launcher in her back pocket. The secondary characters are also really developed. And I laughed out loud in more than one part.
A very fun read.
I love these books! It’s one that I think would make a fun TV show. I love the chemistry between Nick and Kate, the adventure, and of course, the Toblerones. I wish Janet and Lee would right more of them.
Great Book. Easy read, lots of action, funny. FBI agent Kate and Con-man Nick make a good pair.
I discovered this series late and read The Bounty (#7) first and loved it. I then decided to read the rest of the series and this one being the first, it couldn’t of been better and truly couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to read more of Fox and O’Hare
Always an entertaining read when these 2 authors get together!
Humorous
LOVE this series – need more!
Kate and Nick are well written characters. Both are competent but there does exist a sexual tension between them. Plot is good. The pirates are a good twist. Looking forward to hearing more from this dynamic duo.
I’ve not read a single one of Janet Evanovich’s books that has let me down or disappointed me. They all are a pick me up & they all just draw you in until you finish the whole book in one sitting
