Complete Hearts series boxset. I have not read this author before and found myself so caught up in each story. The story telling is so captivating with interesting characters, some mystery, sometimes sweet & sometimes a little steamy. The secondary characters are the same throughout the series.
Six of Hearts – Jay / Jason & Matilda were once neighbors when they were young. As adults he never forgot her kindness and wants her to fall in love with him before he reveals the truth of their past. Having the main character an Illusionist made the story feel so mysterious and just pulls you in.
Hearts of Fire – Jack & Lille an unlikely pair. Both complex & strong but also so vulnerable & hurting. They make traveling with the circus their own version of family! A beautiful story!
King of Hearts – Oliver King & Alexis’s story is told in two parts. Before takes place 6 yrs in the past when Oliver & Alexis met, fell in love, and had it ripped away. The after is their second chance. The road back is breathtaking!
Hearts of Blue – Lee & Karla are on opposite sides of the law. Karla’s eyes are opened to more than just black & white. Lee not only has to give up his way of life, but he also felt he needed to become a man worthy of Karla.
Thief of Hearts – Andrea & Stu teacher & student, but not by accident. Andrea sweet & kind but not really moving forward after becoming a young widow. Stu has been a thief most his life & is just getting out of prison. I absolutely loved her patience & belief in Stu that allowed him to learn to believe in himself. The epilogue with Andrea’s cousin was super sweet!
Cross My Heart – Novella about Cross brother Liam & homeless Iris. Short and sweet!
One Epic Night – Novella prequel to Hearts of Air. It introduces us to Trevor & Reya the night they become more than friends, then the morning that changed that.
Hearts of Air – Trevor & Reya once best friends, once more than that, now have not spoken in two years. Their story is told in the present day with flashbacks to the past thrown it. Trevor has a heart for adventure, but Reya is his home! It would be impossible not to love Trevor & Reya. The epilogue gives a snip of each couple in the series in the future, a nice way to tie up the series!
I love LH Cosway’s characters, she creates these complicated heartbreakingly real people that I can’t help but love. I would invite any of them over for coffee and pastries anyday. This is the last book in the series and I am sad 🙁 I bought the set to read during the quarantine/social distancing/Corvid outbreak of 2020. These characters and their stories helped keep me in a happy mood. I will be re-reading these in the near future
Each book was so different and yet connected. I enjoyed the characters and the different story’s . They were romantic, at times a little sad, but in the end they all end perfect. Really enjoyed the the series.
For fans of LH Cosway, this is a great opportunity to dive head-first into a complete series. Similar themes are explored in each story: “found family” with siblings as best friends. Themes of poverty, recovery from abuse, addiction, being neuro-atypical, having the deck stacked against you … but having love being the big motivation to not give up.
First we follow brothers, Jay and Jack, then we meet King, who connects us to another family of brothers: Lee, Stu, Liam and Trevor. (the end also gives us a tease for a new series Running on Air.)
All the stories are told from the female’s point of view. I would say all the men are “alpha” and the women are all pretty submissive, but the characters, plots, and journeys in each story are all unique, and I couldn’t tell how they were going to get out of the scrapes they had to endure before they achieved their HEA.
I’m glad I got this series in one big bundle.
This is an amazing series. Every story is unique and yet they all fit together so effortlessly. I have enjoyed all of them and look forward to the next one in this series. I definitely recommend this book, this series and this author.
