Eric Danvers thought he had found the perfect submissive before she was swept right out of his arms. Now pining after the one woman he can’t have, Master Eric finds himself stuck in a gruelling cycle of emotional torture that has nothing to do with his BDSM lifestyle. Just as he was about to take a hiatus from The Cage and the lifestyle altogether, Master Eric is asked to take on the role of … role of training Dom for one of the new subs. Rather than agreeing, he’s coerced into the role and finds there’s more to his new training sub than meets the eye.
Elizabeth Williams is a sub on a mission.
Elizabeth Williams has read every single book on BDSM she can get her hands on, and she feels as if this is the lifestyle for her. After saving up for an entire year and working an extra job, she finally had enough money to enter the couples training program at the most exclusive BDSM club in Vancouver. Unfortunately, as soon as Elizabeth and her boyfriend are accepted, he decides that he wants a different sub. Elizabeth decides not to let go of her dream and enters the submissive training program.
Master Eric soon finds that Elizabeth Williams may be more sub than he can handle. He loves her brattiness, but he knows it hides a pool of inner hurt that cried out to his Dom instincts to heal. Elizabeth falls for Mater Eric as soon as she meets him and really believes she cannot help her brattiness. She wants to give him her true submission, but she might not be able to set aside her past hurts to move on. Read the story of Master Eric and Elizabeth in The Heart of the Matter.

Demaningly steamy, gripping suspense
The Heart of the Matter by P Nelson is a well written book with many sexy dominant alpha males and sweet yet strong and independent women.
I loved Eric and Elizabeth. Eric, with all his experience, in this story is in the throws of something new which is due to Elizabeth. Elizabeth, soul searched and researched, saved and worked hard to experience everything Eric could provide.
Overall an awesome book that explores needs, wants, and desires with a suspense and danger plot to add another thrill to the ride of reading this book. The HEA is perfect and I hope to read more about this couple as the series continues.
Elizabeth and Eric are bringing us back to our favorite little corner of the world in an oh so tantalizing fashion. Elizabeth worked her begging to be paddled buns off scrape together the funds to be able to join Cage the most illustrious and exclusive BDSM club. But when her boyfriend gives her the heave-ho because he wants to now use his entrance into the club as a way to meet “more attractive” subs – she is left Dom-less… Eric has been pining after the Sub that got away and it has taken the thrill out of the TPE. When Calla comes to him asking him to please be the training Dom for a Sub who’s Dom abandoned her, he acquiesces reluctantly hoping to get Calla off his back. The minute he meets Elizabeth something about the chatty Sub draws him in. She is gorgeous, funny, bright, and her natural submissive nature intrigues him greatly. As Eric begins his training of Elizabeth it becomes immediately clear to him that his Sub has a stronger hold over him than just a contractual obligation. When her past comes back to haunt her there is quite literally nothing Eric won’t do to protect Elizabeth. Domtastic fun is in store for all who enter the gilded doors the Cage!
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.
This was another amazing book by P. Nelson. My first introduction to the work of this author was Master Dillon but I dive right in when I saw this one. I wish I had KU to read the others *pout*
Master Eric was a good Dom in my opinion but with a firm enough hand to be able to bring his new sub to behave. I loved his heart and the way he protected Elizabeth. He was not only an amazing man but also an incredibly caring person. He was also a human being. I say this because Dom’s can look like they can take it all and it’s not always the case.
Elizabeth was a gorgeous woman. I love that the author portrayed her like a normal female with insecurities and worries but at the same time she was her own person. She was curious to a fault and that thing about talking without thinking reminded me of someone I know.
I have to admit I was not expecting the plot twist of the story. The romance was a given because it’s a no brainer and I loved how it was done by P. Nelson. What I didn’t see coming was the reason behind all the problems they were having. I thought it was all Jerry and then it didn’t make sense and THEN it made sense *smile* Have I confuse you yet?
I won’t talk about the sexy times because… it’s really necessary? It’s a BDSM book after all. I can say I was fanning myself more than once during my reading time and I may have done more after but that’s a secret between us *smile blushing*
The reason why I didn’t give this book a 5 Star review is because I didn’t like how the ending was handled. Not the romantic ending, that was INCREDIBLE, but the overall plot involving the Cage. It felt like that was it for this series and I don’t want it to end. In fact, I don’t think it will because we still have to see Mistress Thea, the “Twins” Masters as they’re called, Master Flynn and others stories.
Please P. Nelson, don’t stop writing this stories. I love them so much and made me so happy to see when there are new books of yours to read.
I could recommend this book to anyone that loves BDSM books with realistic and human-like Dom’s with big hearts and a strong hand. Subs that love to be who they are and discovering that they can’t top from the bottom without consequences *wink wink*
*I voluntarily and happily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book*
