What a fun cozy! Love my visits with Frankie and Verity.
Oh, this was fun! I have really been enjoying the Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries series so I was eager to listen to this installment. It was really easy to slip back into Verity’s world and I could wait to go along as she worked to solve another mystery with her ghostly companion, Frankie. From beginning to end, I was completely entertained by this delightful cozy mystery.
When Verity gets the chance to work with the local bank, she is excited about the opportunity until the man giving her the job ends up dead in the bank’s vault during their first meeting. When she figures out that a ghost may have some involvement, she knows that she needs to look into the case. The mystery kept me guessing and there were some developments that will impact future books in the series.
Tavia Gilbert is one of my favorite narrators and I think that she does a fantastic job with this series. I love the voices that she uses for Verity, Frankie, Ellis, and all of the other characters. I think that she is able to add a lot of emotion to her reading which really helps to bring the story to life. I am sure that her narration added to my overall enjoyment of this book.
I would definitely recommend this book to others. I really like all of the characters in this series and think that the paranormal element is very well done. I cannot wait to check out more of Verity’s adventures!
I enjoy all these book and have gotten some friends and family hooked too. The characters are fun, you might not like everyone (freaking Virginia), but they all have their place. You’ll be constantly entertained.
I enjoyed this third in the series as much as I enjoyed the first two.
Verity finally seems like she might get back on her feet with a job offer when the man who is offering her the job turns up dead, and the suspect is a mobster who has been dead for years. Verity and her ghost friend Frankie have to help figure this out, when know one else can.
I love this series for the fact that you have to expect the unexpected, you never know where the story will turn, and what crazy things will happen. The characters are enjoyable and give me many laughs. They are well developed. The mystery was good and kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next.
I will continue on with this series.
What can I say… I love a good ole 20’s gangster ghost. The books are funny, entertaining and thrilling at the same time. It’s hard to tell if the bad guy is going to be a ghost or a living person.
Loved the story and highly recommend it!
OK, all of these books are similar in that they are whimsical, not very believable, but entertaining stories that feature the main character (Verity) and her cast of surrounding characters. This includes her ghostly companion (Frankie “the Germain”) a prohibition era gangster that was apparently shot by some unknown assailant back in 1933. They all involve Verity solving some crime that she solves using her ability to see and talk to ghosts (courtesy of Frankie) with only her new boyfriend (Ellis) believing she can see and talk to ghosts. But they are all fun reads that are entertaining. They all take place in the made up town of Sugarland Tennessee, where everyone knows everyone and gossip is a full time business. This story was entertaining, and somewhat intriguing, while leaving the discovery of the culprit of the latest murder until the very last. Worth the read!
Enjoyed this book! Looking forward to reading rest of the series.
I love all of Angie Fox’s books!
Fun to read
I love Verify and Frankie and his ghostly gang.
ghosts, cozy-mystery, murder, law-enforcement, amateur-sleuth, greed
How did I miss this one! ? Lucy the skunk is my favorite character but they’re all a bit off center. Good sleuthing and lots of fun!
Loved it! bought the series. Very original
Fun read, really enjoy her books what a blast!
A very good story with twists and turns more gangsters and guns. Verity was about to get a dream job with Reggie the bank president which could open doors for her business and she’d be able to eat real food again. then Reggie is killed and marked like a gangster that Frankie knew who was also dead. Verity and Ellis have to solve another murder with the help of their ghost friends.
I normally love all this series but this book had a little too much going on story wise so it wasn’t as well paced as some of her other works. However, it’s still a great read.
Angie Fox always delivers a GREAT read! Love all her series!
I love the Southern Ghost Hunter series! Verity is always getting tangled in some sort of episode!
Amusing!
Loved the way the characters developed. The gangster ghost is my all/time favorite character. The author never disappoints.
