USA Today Bestseller!
Debut author Sally Thorne bursts on the scene with a hilarious and sexy workplace comedy all about that thin, fine line between hate and love.
Nemesis (n.) 1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome.
2) A person’s undoing
3) Joshua Templeman
Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman hate each other. Not dislike. … undoing
3) Joshua Templeman
Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. And they have no problem displaying their feelings through a series of ritualistic passive aggressive maneuvers as they sit across from each other, executive assistants to co-CEOs of a publishing company. Lucy can’t understand Joshua’s joyless, uptight, meticulous approach to his job. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy’s overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and Pollyanna attitude.
Now up for the same promotion, their battle of wills has come to a head and Lucy refuses to back down when their latest game could cost her her dream job…But the tension between Lucy and Joshua has also reached its boiling point, and Lucy is discovering that maybe she doesn’t hate Joshua. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.

This was such a great read. I enjoyed the back and forth between the two main characters. I definitely recommend this book, and this author. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I’m totally in love with this book! I had a ringer of a book hangover after finishing this one. Lucy Hutton is hilarious and Joshua Templeman is to die for. Also just a heads up, but there’s a super cute epilogue of The Hating Game at the back of 99 Percent Mine!
I absolutely loves this book with my whole heart and soul. It is amazingly written and very hard to put down. One more chapter was never enough. You will not be disappointed reading this book. I just wish there could be more books about Lucy and Josh.
One of my favorites from 2018!
Really enjoyed this book.
I bought this book by recommendation and at the beginning I thought – What the hell is that! It’s not my typical read anymore. But I absolutely loved this quite an opposite of usual romcom story! I struggled to put it down because of my daily duties.
It was hilarious, crazy, funny and I have to admit it hit home in some ways at some point! It was amazing! Now I highly recommend it to anyone!
Denise Grover Swank, one of my favorite authors, got me to buy and read this book “The Hating Game”. At first I thought – what a dork -that was right before I fell in love with JT! Now I may have to go out and get the audible just to hear it! This is an excellent book…a little different from your usual romance books. The characters are so well drawn. I hope…even though it was written a while back that there will be a sequel. I totally recommend this book.
Whenever anyone asks me for a book recommendation, the first thing I always say is “have you read The Hating Game yet?”, and almost every person I’ve recommended it to has come back to tell me how much they love it. Hands down my favorite rom com…it is laugh-old-loud funny, the main characters are adorable and their chemistry is off the charts.
This was an entertaining book, and I enjoyed reading it. I would recommend it over many other similar books.
What a debut! An adorable, witty, funny read! A MUST READ! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!
Fun, quirky, silly romance. Loved it!
I had a lot of fun reading this book. Loved the characters, the banter, the stupid games they played and the behind the scenes story between Josh and his father. I was so thrill to read a romance that oozed sexual tension where the author managed to write very sexy, hot intimate moments in a non-crass way. Kudos, Ms. Thorne, I think you proved to the world that romance can be sexy without being vulgar. At times the banter was a bit over the top and the dialogue dragged on. That’s my only criticism. Looking forward to reading the next one.
This is without a doubt one of my all-time favorite books! THIS is how you do a hate-love romance. This right here.
What a fun little gem. It’s a slow burn but Thorne romantic comedy leaves you smiling and rooting for the great tension between coworkers Lucy and Josh. I needed something light at the time and this was perfect. If you’ve ever had a crush on someone that annoyed you… this book is priceless. The characters are flawed and believable. And since I listened to this audiobook, I’ll say the narrator was perfectly selected to the tone of the book.
I adored the back-and-Forth between these characters, and would totally marry Josh tomorrow if I wasn’t convinced that Lucy would take me down if I tried!
A great read, really enjoyed the characters and the storyline.
Honestly, I really can’t say enough for this book. It’s by far one of my favorites I’ve read this year. Lucy and Josh were hilarious and sweet and sometimes infuriating, and I loved everything about it. <3 I HIGHLY recommend this book!!

Loved this book!
I loved every minute of this book. I listened to the audiobook and started it again immediately after I finished the first time. The characters are so lovingly drawn and their banter was so much fun. Just a lovely, sometimes sad, very romantic story.
Love this hilarious and compelling book!! The games they play. How much they hate one another. The slow burn and build up to something more. Strawberries!! One of my favorites.
