Eric de Vries.Looks like millions. Worth billions.A body like the David with a mind to match. Unfortunately for this wayward heir, to keep his money, he needs a wife. And of all the women in the world, he chooses me. Too bad I’ve hated him for five years, since he took all my tears and tossed me away. The guy slept his way through half of New England and discarded women like hotel toiletries.Been … women like hotel toiletries.
Been there. Done that.
Still…what would you do for twenty million dollars?
Would you wear the dress?
Fake a smile for the man who broke your heart?
Or would you run far, far away?
Yeah, that’s what I thought.
I’ll see you at the church.

Holy effing cliffhanger, Batman! This book has my mind spinning with questions, with possibilities… I am floored. These characters are fantastic and addictive. I have never felt so many mixed emotions while reading a book before. I need more, and I’m not sure I’ll be able to survive the suspense! This is an absolute must read.
Man this book is an emotional roller coaster and this author does an amazing job holding your emotions hostage throughout this read. One minute I wanted to hate Eric the next I wanted to hate her for what she put him through. They both need serious help in many ways and play off each other beautifully if not in anger from past hurts then lost in the passion that burns hot within them. He knows how to reach her in bed but out of the bedroom these two have too many people that fight against their union, no matter who it benefits. I love/hate this author especially when she gets me all up in my feelings, waffling back and forth. It’s a read that will do you in one way or another and yeah it ends in a cliff hanger and I will go mad waiting to find out what happens because yeah she dropped a number of bombs at the end which of course leave you saying WTH?!?!?! Freaking brilliant. Even when the action slows down you only get the chance to catch your breath, now all I gots to do is breathe until the next book in the trilogy. . . I can’t wait!!
THE HATE VOW is the first instalment in Nicole French’s contemporary, adult QUICKSILVER erotic, romantic suspense trilogy focusing on attorney and billionaire heir to the De Vries Dynasty Eric de Vries, and attorney Jane Lee Lefferts.
Told from first person perspective (Jane) and third person (Eric) THE HATE VOW
follows the acrimonious relationship, and rekindling romance and love between attorney and billionaire heir to the De Vries Dynasty Eric de Vries, and attorney Jane Lee Lefferts. Eric de Vries is caught between the proverbial ‘rock and a hard place’. With the family matriarch months from death, Celeste de Vries forces Eric to make a decision that will affect his life and the lives of the entire de Vries family. Marry within six months; produce an heir within five years or the entire family forfeits the seventeen billion dollar empire. A manwh*re by reputation, Eric only knows of one woman who would be crazy enough to take on his family but a woman who despises Eric for sins of the past. Enter half Korean/half American Jane Lee Lefferts, and the woman Eric has never stopped loving for most of his adult life. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship and rekindling romance between Eric and Jane, and the fall-out as Eric’s past comes seeking something Eric is unable to refuse.
THE HATE VOW is a story of money, power, wealth and control; a tale of secrets, betrayal, sins and lies; of darkened whispers and dangerous men. Jane is the ‘Megan Markle’ of American royalty: treated with disdain, prejudice, hatred and contempt due to her heritage, lineage, and ultimately her lack of social standing. Eric de Vries, as the heir to the de Vries dynasty refused his place until circumstance and blackmail forced our hero to take his position as head of de Vries Shipping. From the malevolence and directed animosity and alienation towards our story line heroine, to the power, control and secret society of the rich and famous THE HATE VOW is a heart breaking, and agonizing look at an authoritative community of powerful men and controlling elite; of vindictive women and cruel recrimination.
THE HATE VOW ends on a cliff-hanger, you have been warned.
This. Book. Owns. Me.
I feel like I’ve stated that so much lately!!!
Eric. Oh my… Eric… just. Swoon
Jane. Such a simple name. For someone anything but…
I loved this book. It broke me. But it put me back together again. Eric and Jane were together 10 years before. They couldn’t do anything but hurt each other it seemed.
This book is heavy on emotion but humor too.
A matriarch that requires her estranged grandson marry and sire an heir to reap the billions she plans to leave him.
The one that got away.
Literally, the only person Eric could imagine running this 5-year marriage stint with…
I. Loved. This. Book.
Book 1 of a trilogy. Final book to be released 10/10/19.
READ THIS
Nicole French
Well this is my first book of Nicole French but it won’t be my last.
I love a good millionaire/billionaire romance. It’s one of my favourite tropes, and at first I wasn’t sure about this book, but I was intrigued.. let me start by saying, I am so glad I took the chance!!
Because this one hit the right spot and I was pleasantly surprised on how much I loved this book!
You’ve got Eric, the typical rich bachelor who sleeps with women like it’s a sport but things are about to change, and have to change, so he can inherit his families money. The thing is, he needs to find a woman who will agree to marry him. The only woman who may accept his proposal is a woman he screwed over once before, the only woman who’s truly ever loved him, and he did nothing but break her heart.
and then you’ve got Jane, an out of her job lawyer, who also needs somewhere to live, and she may not have a choice than to take Eric up on his offer….
Jane was fun! I loved everything about her, I loved the way the author wrote her. She had sass, sarcasm and wit down to a T. But she still struggled, as the plot got deeper… We saw her learn things about herself. We saw her grow and fight to find her happily ever after. But will she? Is Eric that? Or is this “arrangement” doomed to fail.. just like it had in the past.
Eric… well he’s not the typical hero i generally like. He was born into wealth, and it’s made known. He’s an A class Golden Boy, he’s a smart man, he’s driven and he is dominant as hell, and though he may be a ladies man… he certainly has a heart, which I didn’t expect! He’s a charmer, and what he thinks he knew, what he thinks he felt for this woman, he really doesn’t and it’s as though the truth is staring him straight in the face, but he’s an inch off being able to see it..
These two together were epic,..
Granted I wanted to throw my eReader across the room a few times, because the truth was staring them both in the face, and I just wanted to scream at the both of them!
They were still EPIC!!
They were funny, they were intriguing, they were steamy and hot. It was addictive and I couldn’t put the book down as they made their way from enemies to lovers to a second chance romance. I loved how the author weaved these tropes together and created a romance that had me swooning, frustrating (in all the right ways) addictive, all-consuming plot that you just couldn’t put down.
And that ending?? AHHHHHH!! I literally screamed.
5 stars!
I love a good cliffhanger. The one that makes you want to shake the author upside down until the next book falls out.
$20 million dollars.
Marriage for love?
Past love.
Past betrayals.
New love.
New betrayals.
Marriage for money?
Holy cliffhanger.
Jane fell in love 5 years ago but quickly abandoned that to keep her heart from completely breaking. But what she doesn’t know is the reason she abandoned heart break is fixing to walk back into her life with a bang!
After being let go from her job at the DA’s office she needs a pick me up and a few hours away from her mom. So she makes an appointment to get her hair dyed a color she hasn’t been able to for the last 5 years.
When Eric shows up at the salon she just has her hair done she is dumbfounded. Even though they share Skylar as a friend, he was the last person she expected to see. Especially with the proposal that he has for her.
Eric knew that 5 years ago the love of his life walked away. Now he needs help from Jane in a way he never expected. Jane was the one that got away because of circumstances of their own making. But Eric knows he wouldn’t do this with anyone else but Jane.
Eric is so much more than just the lawyer with a top firm and amazing friends who run the same firm with him. Even though he has everything going for him he doesn’t have love in his life. Especially after his last fiancée. His grandmother summons him to see her after 10 years of not being in touch with his family. She has a deal to make with him. And she holds nothing back in her expectations of what she wants.
But can Eric deliver on the deal in order to save his family and their business?
Eric is a well rounded hunky guy who has room for love in his heart but refuses to just let anyone in. Especially someone he has loved before. Eric has the best of intentions with Jane until things become more complicated than he ever expected.
Eric knows what his heart is capable of, but will extenuating circumstances keep that from happening?
Jane is such a firecracker and I absolutely love that about her! She doesn’t conform to anything but who she truly is. She is unapologetically herself and I admire the hell out of her for that!
Eric and Jane’s relationship is one of chaos, feist and pure passion. They spar with each other only they can handle. These two have such a spark and so much sexual tension it is unreal. They know what it can be between each other but they worry that they will get their hearts broken again. Jane is willing to do what she can in order to help Eric but there is a price to pay when you are involved with a high society family. So much is expected of you and the true question remains of whether Jane and Eric can be their true selves with each other despite all of the distractions being thrown at them! Nicole French
Loved this book! Cannot wait for the next installment – be prepared for a great cliff hanger! I’m totally addicted and entranced and holding my breath waiting to see…what happens next!
There are so many elements to this book I loved I don’t even know where to start. This is the story of born into wealth Eric. This is also the story of fought for her success Jane. They meet in law school and heat up the sheets. Then feelings get in the way and their hook up relationship takes a turn for termination. Years later Eric comes to her because his grandmother, who he despises, is offering the family dynasty to him only if he marries. There is only one woman he can see marrying and that’s Jane. While she hates him, he never stopped loving her. Jane is my new favorite character. She is badass. With her multi-colored hair, love for punk music, I do what I want attitude and her stubborn nature. She is a total woman crush. I loved the push and pull between Eric and her. But I did want to slap them and yell, “STOP FIGHTING IT!” Then when we think it all is coming to a happily ever after, Nicole French has to shock us and leave us panting for more. I can’t wait for more! I highly suggest this book. It has romance, suspense, laugh out loud moments, steamy scenes and story that will touch your heart.
This book had me captivated from page 1.
The way the author weaves her words into the magnificent tale is amazing!
How Eric and Jane have a multimillion dollar deal. The wealth and luxury of the story keeps you turn pages.
This book is definitely in my favorite books list.
This book!!!
It’s not the first book that I’ve read by the author and won’t be the last either.
The Hate Vow characters are secondary characters in another book that i have yet to read but it hasn’t changed anything for me in their story.
I really hate cliffhangers but i don’t even care anymore because i want to know more and more of this story full of everything you want from great enemies to lovers/fake wedding trope.
Eric de Vries is your typical rich bachelor that spends his life through all the woman’s beds but when he has to do a drastic change in his life in order to inherit his legacy by birth, the only woman that he hates her guts and has a history with him and also accepts his proposition is Jane, a lawyer out of her job and a place to live anymore. Who wouldn’t accept his offer because no matter how much your heart has been broken by the said hero, life will give you opportunities to put back the pieces together and function as normal again.
I loved everything in this book, from the writing that keeps you wanting to read just another chapter even if it’ 4 am in the night, the characters and their banner which was OMG, had me laughing out loud and also shouting at them both in different stages, i was in awe at times, especially when Eric will recite all those poems, the chemistry and all the mixed feelings that both were feeling and tried to understand what’s happening with them and their hearts.
If i could give more than 5 stars i would because i just love this book that much.
Do you ever read a book and wish it would never end? That’s how I felt with this book. It is absolutely mind riveting from beginning to end. Eric and Jane gave known each other for quite some time. Then one day Eric tells her he needs a bride. But Jane, knowing how her and Eric are, doesn’t know what to do. Eric continuously tries to show her they need to do this, but something nags at Jane that it’s the wrong thing to do. Do they marry? Will something from both of their pasts stop them? This book truly has all the feels, like anger, sadness, happiness, lust and maybe even love. I am so enamored with these characters and couldn’t help falling in love with them myself. I cannot wait for the next book in this trilogy. It is completely and utterly a phenomenal story!
Wow! This is my first book by Nicole French and I couldn’t be happier.
I originally thought the storyline was old and had been done many many times, rich guy need wife to obtain the millions he’s set to inherit. And while this book follows that storyline Nicole has made Jane and Eric truly multidimensional. The banter between these two during their engagement is priceless! Eric is pretty straight laced but Jane is quirky resilient and stubborn as all get out. I had serious doubts that these two would make it down the aisle. Ms. French did not disappoint this book truly has something for everyone. I was utterly invested in these characters until the very end and now shocker a huge cliffhanger. My wait begins until I can find out where Eric and Jane end up.
I didn’t know I needed this book. But I did and now I need the next one. I love this world and even more, I love that I got to see ALL of my favorite characters. This book is beautifully written which I have come to expect from this author. AMAZING characters and jumping back into a world that I didn’t even realize I missed so very much. Thank you for the great read. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
What’s the first thing you should look at on a synopsis ? Check if it’s a series of course then you won’t freak when you get to the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers.
Eric and Jane old lovers reunited with all the twisted tangled emotions you can think of. The witty back and forth banter was fun to read. Loved the snarky nature of their relationship. The push and pull, the will they won’t they the undeniable chemistry is all wrapped up in a great story. You really get a sense of who the characters are and they are fun to read about. Now I’m anxiously waiting on book two.

Wow! Once again this author has left me speechless! I’ve been sitting here in a stupor trying to find the words to do this book justice, but I can’t… She takes us to New York, Chicago, and my absolute favorite BOSTON in this book, once again transporting us on a magic carpet of words, to places so real you can see them. I mean, this book checks every single item off my criteria for a good book list, the dark broody hero, the snarky take-no-s%#t from anyone heroine, sexual tension off the charts, crazy family drama, intriguing side stories, just ALL of it rolled into one amazing story that will lead you cursing her out that you have to wait until June for more of this crew.
I loved absolutely everything about Jane. She has to be my favorite heroine in recent memory. I love that the author takes us into her psyche and shows her honest flaws and inner struggles with fitting in. Jane is quirky and sarcastic and I think those are my top two favorite things about her. She’s learning about herself too on this journey to find her happy ever after, and boy do they still have a journey ahead of them to get to that point lol.
And lets talk about Eric. First let me say, going in I did not expect to like him. My type typically runs more to the dark, domineering, working class hero. Eric may be has the domineering part down but he’s very much the Golden Boy, suited up, all business hero. Boy am I happy to say I was wrong, I’m definitely loving every single thing about Eric. Especially his heart. His poetry! Swoon! He really is perfect for Jane, and its almost like he can ALMOST see it, but not quite, and its hard to convince Jane what they have is the real deal when he’s not quite seeing it clearly himself. They’ll get there though, they have some more stuff to work through, on their own and together, to get to their forever. Hurry up Ms. French I can’t wait for them to figure it out!
I’m not sure I have words right now to express what I just read. The lust, the banter, the mystery and the love-hate relationship between the MC’s. Everything about it was intriguing and had me sitting at the end of my seat happily turning page after page to see what will happen next.
And I just read that book two is coming in June?!?! I don’t think I’ll be able to wait that long to see how far these two lovebirds can find a way to HEA.
PS; I HATE CLIFFHANGERS

Whoa! What just happened? This book is everything I didn’t expect it to be. It was a whole lot more really. If you read the Spitfire Series then you’ve already had a glimpse of Eric and Jane. But to get their story is just awesome. These two are so much alike and yet so different. How much will they both change once they make an arrangement that will change their life. Better yet will they go through with it. Who knew how explosive those two could still be and will she ever let go of past misgivings. What is he willing to sacrifice for her. Oh and all the secrets and the turn of events this takes you on. The ending, I’m like whoa, wait, what… I love these two. And so many of others mentioned in this book too. Amazing. I am looking forward to more.
Eric de Vries is a playboy through and through, he enjoys being single and has no qualms about his love’em for a night and then leave’em in the morning style. But the eternal bachelor has just been handed a blow from his grandmother that he never saw coming, she insists he marry in order to maintain his billionaire status. The last thing he wants to do is get married, and be forced to spend every waking moment with one woman, but he loves his luxurious lifestyle too, so something is going to have to give. Meaning he needs a wife STAT, but he can’t take on just any wife though, he needs one who understands him and his needs, which leads him to the door of a woman he never thought he’d see again.
Letting Jane Lee Lefferts in again could be harmful to not only his life, but also his heart… but what choice does he really have?
Between the pages of The Hate Vow you will find a story that will have you giggling one moment, and swooning like a fool the next, Eric and Jane really know how to put on a show!! This was a refreshing tale about a couple brought together for the sake of a marriage of convenience, that quickly morphs into something far more real than they ever anticipated! I really enjoyed following these two through their little journey, the drama was high, the steamy moments were off the charts, and of course then there were tender moments that gave my heart a good squeeze too. Highly recommend!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am leaving my honest opinion.
I knew going into this book I would like it. I mean come on Nicole French wrote it, but about a third way into it I was absolutely in love with it. I was taken on a journey with Jane and Eric and I didn’t want it to end. The characters are so well written I feel as though I really know them and the storyline had the ups and downs of a love hate relationship filled with a constant feeling of woah and what just happened there. The next book can’t come quick enough!
