Eric de Vries.Looks like millions. Worth billions.A body like the David with a mind to match. Unfortunately for this wayward heir, to keep his money, he needs a wife.And of all the women in the world, he chooses me. Too bad I’ve hated him for five years, since he took all my tears and tossed me away.The guy slept his way through half of New England and discarded women like hotel toiletries.Been … women like hotel toiletries.
Been there. Done that.
Still…what would you do for twenty million dollars?
Would you wear the dress?
Fake a smile for the man who broke your heart?
Or would you run far, far away?
Yeah, that’s what I thought.
I’ll see you at the church.

This story should come with a warning sign – careful, highly addictive! I read the book all at once, without even putting it down. I’ve known the characters from Nicole’s previous books and I couldn’t be happier they are finally getting their own story.
In this ‘second-chance-fake-marriage’ romance story, Jane and Eric both find them selves in a not all that good of a place at the beginning. Eric’s situation has been made difficult by his family and their business and Jane has some work related troubles. Eric seeks her out to ask her to help him after breaking her heart few years prior.
I loved Eric so much. First of all, he was all alpha without being overly stubborn. He had his demons from the past and I honestly almost cried for him once they were revealed. That sort of thing messes you up for life. Yet Eric didn’t give up on life and that I admired about him. Jane was adorable. I enjoyed her sass, her spirit. I felt like thought-out the book she stayed true to herself and her beliefs.
This book is definitely one of Nicole’s best work and honestly, I’m just so excited for the second book and what’s to come next. There are so many question marks left to be answered and I can’t wait to uncover them all in the next book.
5 stars!
Absolutely loved Jane and Eric. This is the first book in their story and truly can not wait for the next part. Could not put down and loved everything about it. I adore these characters. Ready for book 2!
Wow is the word that comes to mind with this book. Eric and Jane have a love and hate relationship with each other. Their back and forth will have you laughing and some points will make you mad. With a proposal of a idea that may or may not help both of them. Will it lead them to where they want or will it really damage anything they have left. An amazing read had me turning page after page to read more and more can’t wait to read the next one.
An arranged marriage with someone you used to be in love with, who broke your heart and ability to trust…throw in an unknown part of your past hell-bent to destroy your impending plans, what could go wrong?
Filled with the anger of lost love and broken hearts, this story will captivate you with every twist and turn, especially the moments you don’t expect. Several mysteries keep you on your toes and guessing until the end.
The witty banter is entertaining, while the explosive chemistry should come with a warning label. I love a book that I can’t figure out the ending to, it’s a refreshing change. I loved Eric and Jane’s story and can’t wait for more in this series!
This book is definitely one of the top ten books of 2019. Nicole French delivers the punches throughtout the lifes of Eric and Jane, their love, hate relationship with an ending so explosive nobody ever expected!!
Can’t wait to see what Nicole French comes up with next in the life of Jane and Eric, I bet she is going to blow our minds!!
The Hate Vow is one of the books that I was eagerly anticipating the release of this year. It did not disappoint. I was captivated by Eric and Jane’s tale. Mrs. French’s descriptive language brought life to their story and made it easy to immerse myself in it.
The pages flew by and before I knew it, it was over. I look forward to reading the next book.
Eric needs a wife and Jane needs money so the two make a twenty million dollar deal. What could possibly go wrong with this deal? The two falling in actual love. This was an interesting read but it does end in a cliffhanger.
Nicole French certainly knows how to hook us into a story. This book resonated with me being an American-born Chinese. The fact that Jane is half Korean grabbed my attention immediately. My husband is white, so our children are mixed kids, my daughter looks like me. So I totally understood some of Janes insecurities, being the odd one out or feeling out of place.
I loved that Nicole described these insecurities and fears because they are very real. Jane is a very strong character and I loved her sass but her fears made her much more endearing and my heart broke sooo much for her knowing exactly how she felt. My husband’s family is great and I LOVE them, but being the only Asian in the whole family did make me kinda uncomfortable especially when they didn’t understand some of our cultural customs. So kudos for Nicole nailing it!
I loved the push and pull of both Eric and Jane and the secondary characters were awesome too. We get to see more of Skylar and Brandon and I kinda liked the grandma. Kinda….lol. Some other characters remain a mystery that I hope the second book will explain more about them.
Eric is awesome! I wanted to slap him sometimes but he redeemed himself, kinda! I wanted to kill both of them towards the end to be honest…. but when the last page was read, I was dumbfounded. It ends in a cliffy, but I loooveeeeee the angst and the tension and cannoooottt wait for the next book. I am rooting for both Jane and Eric and I reallyyy want to see their HEA!!
All I can say is…WOW! This is Ms. French’s best yet, and that is really saying something as her previous books have been nothing short of fantastic.
Eric and Jane will set your reading device on fire. The chemistry between these two is off the charts. Their interactions and the way they play off each other made for an exciting and intriguing story.
The dynamic between them was akin to watching a tennis match. The back and forth of the “I hate you”’, “I love you” leaves the reader just as confused and emotional as the characters.
And the ending? The ending will leave you filled with anticipation for the next book.
This is my first book by this author so I had no idea what to expect with this book. The blurb grabbed me from the second I saw it, I love the whole have to marry for their inheritance storyline so I was super excited to start this.
Eric and Jane are old lovers who never really expected to see each other again never mind get married. But with Eric’s family issuing ultimatums, he has no one to turn to who he trusts to help him except for Jane. Having a past together means these two have a connection but it’s the undeniable chemistry between them that I couldn’t get enough of. I loved the banter and push and pull between them and the more they reconnected, the more invested I became.
This is so much more than just a marriage of convenience story. Both Eric and Jane are extremely easy to like and I admit I was rooting for them. Of course, been me, I went into this book knowing nothing except the blurb so I didn’t actually know it was book one in a trilogy (sometimes it pays to pay attention) so the cliffhanger ending was a bit of a surprise but I one I absolutely loved. I can’t wait to find out what happens next for Eric and Jane.
What a Roller-coaster! This is my 1st book by Nicole French.
At first it was difficult for me to connect with Jane but then I understood her quirkiness and humor, it was kinda like a mechanism to hide some insecurities she had with the relationship with Eric and her feelings.
Eric is in a tight bind to save his family from his ruthless Grandmother scheme. He must clean up his playboy persona and marry within a set time in order to inherit the family fortune and keep it’s legacy.
Through all the frustrating situations Jane is placed she finds opening her heart again to Eric…
In this whole saga honesty is hard to find and lies always come to light…
This will not be what you expect the ending of this book will leave you in total chaos… Yes it’s a cliffhanger!! But oh so good!!!
THE HATE VOW (Quicksilver 1)

Release Date March 29
Wow! The Hate Vow is the first book in the Quicksilver series. It is the first book I’ve read by Nicole French.
“I’m in love with you. I’m crazy about you. I knew the second you walked into that fucking bar, all the way back when we were practically just kids, that you were the only one for me.”
I am all over the place with this book. I am totally in love with Jane’s give no fuck attitude. I love how she own her sexuality! It’s awesome to see a heroine be so confident and just as sexually experiences as the hero. There is something about Eric’s character that draws you in, although there were moments that I just wanted to strangle the s#!t out of him.
“I wasn’t going to apologize for my life or make him apologize either.”
This romantic suspense will have you captivated. Talk about fifty shades meet the skulls. The whole secret society thing has always fascinated me so to see it incorporated into a romance book was awesome.
This book leaves you with so much questions. I can’t wait for book 2.
Fun, flirty, sexy, and the banter had me giggling well into the night. Wild circumstances, yet the Author made it work, and well. Hot as hades, smoothly enticing, I ate it up as if I was starving. These two were electric, yet oil and water, and to watch them battle with their feelings was exhilarating! I loved the progression, the fall, and the chemistry could be felt seeping off the pages!! These characters were night and day, but they were perfect for each other! I loved it! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!
~~~Erika, Book Haven Book Blog
I’m a sucker for enemies-to-lovers. And when I read this blurb, I just couldn’t help myself – I had to sign up for the ARC. This was my first read by this author, so I was also excited to try a new-to-me author.
Unfortunately, this book wasn’t for me. I’m bummed that I didn’t love it more. I tried. I wanted to love Eric more, but I didn’t. Jane’s sassiness was entertaining at times, but mostly, for me, it was a little too much. The nicknames and name-calling happened too often for my liking.
After reading some of the other reviews, I see that Eric & Jane were introduced in another series. I’m wondering if I would’ve enjoyed it more had I read those? Not sure, but the lack of connection I felt with these characters was more than likely the cause of me not enjoying this story.
A lot of other readers loved this book, so I don’t want to discourage anyone from reading it. Tastes are different, so what doesn’t work for one person, may work perfectly for many others.
The ending was a cliffy, so I’m sure many readers will be eager for the next book.
*ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
I have been patiently waiting for Eric and Jane’s story and so excited to finally have it! Nicole French did not disappoint! Once again she developed a story that was hot and sexy with a couple who loved to hate each other! I really loved getting to know Jane better. Shes fun and quirky with a who cares what you think of me attitude! While I found Eric to be hot, sexy and sweet im still not sure what to think of him. There are still so many layers to peel away. I feel like there’s a whole other side we need to explore. I think thats why I found myself annoyed with him at times when it came to Jane and everything that was happening to her. I wanted to shake some sense into him. I cant believe we have to wait till June to find out what happens after that ending! Im still trying to wrap my head around what just happened! Nicole definitely has me curious and so many questions need to be amswered, I can’t wait!
Eric is being forced into a marriage so why not ask Jane, the one girl that he onced loved but now hates him. Well hate is a strong word for the hpt and cold relationship that Eric and Jane have endured over the last five years. Jane is very different than the typical New York elite, with her slanted eyes and perchant for color. For Eric, her “color” is part of her attraction as he lives in a world of black and wite, but Jane often feels unworthy but she is determined to not let the cattiness of Eric’s family tear her down.
The chemistry is there, no doubt, but there are many obstacles in their way. Lies, omssions, past hurts, love and wanting to belong. Eric and Jane need to wade through quicksand over and over. There are still more bombs dropped that will threaten them. That ending, it is like standing on the edge of a cliff looking down. Write fast Nicole French! I am vested in Eric and Jane’s story and need to see how it all works out.
This is the first book I’ve read of Nichole French’s (even though I have a couple other of hers on my kindle). DEAR LORD. SO GOOD. What did I just read?! I couldn’t put it down. I will be honest. The first couple chapters took me a while. It felt slow to me and I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this book. HOWEVER, after a couple chapters went past and I got into the groove with her writing and the story line, the book flew by because I couldn’t stop reading!
The witty banter (which I love in any book), the sexual tension, the fake marriage, and the constant back and forth. The writing was top notch and the dialogue felt real. There was nothing forced in any aspect. I couldn’t get enough.
That ending! What the what?! It does leave off with a cliffhanger and I can’t wait for the next book to find out what happens!
I will definitely make sure to push her other books on my kindle closer to the top!
Pick this book up when it publishes on March 29th!
two friends that are trying to make a marraige work for her best friend that is a high powered shipper, but he dosent want this job he just wants to be a lawyer but is going to have to follow his grandma orders before can hand off. this is amazing read that will have you hooked to this story. cant wait for the next book!
He chose to carve his own path, make his own destiny and not take up the reins of the family business as was presumed, and expected.
She once had everything she wanted and had worked for, but now she has nothing. No home to call her own, no job and lots of debts.
Times are changing. A proposition in the air, and now theres a dilemma for both of them.
What will happen and where will it lead?
I’m going to be brutally honest here and say the first half of the book didn’t excite me much.
I understand its scene setting and background information but it was like treading water to me…
BUT… then I hit the half way mark and all that changed!! it got exciting, and dangerous, extra layers were weaved between the plot lines, and questions and theories plagued my mind.
The book hit its stride and oh my I freaking loved it!
Eric is sucsessful as both a businessman and a player.
Hes a no nonsense not interested in a long lasting relationship kind of man. His past, his family and his damaged heart the reason.
Jane is a mess, her life needs a new direction and her heart a kickstart.
Her mojo lost have you seen it?
They make for a comical couple with their catty, humous and candid comments, but deep down there is more. They give each other life.
Watching them dance, grow and learn is quite the magical experience. The chase, the fear, the built up walls all create a unique and mesmerising picture.
I didn’t actually realise it wasnt a standalone so it came as a shock to me.
I raged, I shouted and I walked away only to run back and double check that I hadn’t made it up.. nope.. I now have to wait as will you..
But I know it’s going to be worth it!
I would of given this book 5 stars but due to the first half I dont feel it quite deserves that. Therefor I’m giving it 4.5 stars!!
