Asher Bennet has secrets.
Not the scandalous kind, but the ones that fester, slowly eating away at your soul.

And suddenly the thing you need most is the very thing you’re supposed to hate.
The Harder You Fall is the third book in The Rixon Raiders series. All books in this series can be read as standalones!

She’s running from all that she knew to a life so very different.
Now she’s in the minority, with unwelcome stares and whispered comments.
He’s hiding everything between a smile and joke.
His friends can see the cracks forming, but he’s not ready. Once he’s vocalised it there’s no going back.
Two people who see what others don’t, that look below the surface.
How long can they convince each other and the world around them, that they are just friends..?
The Raiders are back! This is book three in this series, and if you loved the others, then I just know you will love this too.
The first book “The trouble with you” was Cameron and Hailee’s. The second book “The game you play” was Jason and Felicitys and now it’s time to shine a light on the joker of the pack Asher and the new girl Mya.
This is essentially a friends to lovers come sports romance.
Angst and drama, love, passion, hurt and sadness equals a very emotional and heartfelt read.
There were moments of tears. Moments of laughter and moments of tranquility, and you know what, it was the perfect way to end this fantastic series.
Need I say more?
Well damn. I didn’t think I would have fallen hard for Asher but he is my favorite. I could feel his pain, heartache and the love he has.
Asher and Mya are going to bet all the odds in their story. But love isn’t easy, it may even come with a price.
I would love to see Asher/Mya, Cameron/Hailee and Jason/Felicity off to college. It was an honor watching them grow during their senior year in high school but I would LOVE to see how they handle college. I just want more
This is the third book in the Rixon Raiders series and my was it a good book. This book looks at Asher and Mya, both from two different backgrounds. The story revolves around how they will make it as a couple when people are standing in their way as well as coming back from tragic events.
This book has a few different story-lines to follow. The first one is of Asher’s. Although from a privileged family, not everything is what it seems. His father is harsh on him and has given him an ultimatum regarding college which also surrounds how he treats Asher’s mother (He’s not a nice character if I’m honest but does seem to have some redeemable qualities). He’s keeping secrets form his friends as he feels like he doesn’t fit with them anymore and the only person who seems to get him is Mya who has her own scars and insecurities.
Mya moved school when things got out of control where she previously lived with her then boyfriend J, who has joined a gang. Moving to a new town should have helped that, but sadly not when you’re judged for your skin colour and background. Mya has had it hard and has had to make some hard decisions in life…she’s hoping that Asher isn’t going to break her heart along the way.
This was a really great story in the fact that it showed the struggles of not only growing up in a small town, but also highlighted the prejudices people have and the roads that some of us have to walk in order to survive. There are some heart-breaking moments between Asher and Mya and you genuinely feel for both characters and what they are going through/ have gone through. It seems as though everyone has an opinion on their relationship and at times aren’t very supportive of them as a couple or as individuals. Asher and Mya seem to hide a lot behind their smiles and only seem to get each other. If only they could live in a bubble!
There are some amazing twists and turns in this book, especially when Asher’s friends find out what his dad has done as well as the twist with Asher’s mum (totally heart-breaking). I would definitely recommend reading this series in order so that you understand other characters that pop up. But if you like your romances, sporty, angsty, steamy and with a dash of suspense, then this is the one for you!

NEVER READ WHILE DRINKING!!!
The harder you fall is the third and final book in the Rixton Raiders Series and LA didn’t disappoint with this book.
This story follows Maya and Asher and is a Sexy, fun story that will captivate you from start to finish. One of the biggest plot twists I have ever read and didn’t see coming. I wasn’t ready, my heart wasn’t ready and ya’ll ain’t ready for it.
LA blows it out of the water with this story. What a way to end such an incredible series.
Asher is now my favourite raider.
The 1st book in the series you cheered for Cam and Hailey, the second book you yell at Jason and this book you will cry. Asher and Mya’s story is heartbreaking. So many obstacles and things that can keep them apart, cbut are they their own worst enemy? Are they using their walls as excuses to not go after what they truly want?
The final book of The Rixon Raiders series was great and the perfect ending for fan favorite Asher and the whole crew.
I enjoyed this book very much even though I didn‘t like the female main character as much as the other two.
The story between those characters was really good and I loved how it portrayed so many current events. Mya had a good backstory but I sometimes found her a little annoying but it didn‘t hurt the reading enjoyment that much.
I also really loved how we got to see alot from the other characters again and how the dynamics between all the characters where and how close each and everyone is. The three guys are more brothers than friends in my opinion and even with their differences they all are there for eachother nonetheless.
I really would‘ve liked to know more that happened after the twist with some of the characters involved but I guess it wouldn‘t have mattered much.
A great ending for our Rixon Raiders.
Another brilliant addition to the series
I loved these characters. Asher was always a character I wanted to know more about, he was the easy going of the group, the joker, the sidekick, the negotiator, the listener but beneath the surface he is a young man with his own secret worries as we discover and I really enjoyed his story.
Mya is a girl from the hood who moved to Rixon to live with her aunt following a breakup with her childhood friend and boyfriend who was getting heavily involved in gangs. Mya moved away for her safety, for her sanity and most of all for a better future.
OPPOSITES ATTRACT
Mya Hernandez isn’t like other girls in town, not only is she not the typical white girl and hasn’t a clue about this football crazed town when she first arrived, she’s a young woman with backbone, sass and she becomes friends with and is taken under the wings of Hailee and Felicity who all quickly become good friends.
When Hailee and Cameron, Jason and Felicity fall in love both Mya and Asher become the fifth wheels and have no choice but to spend time with one-another.
Asher comes from a family with money and despite the disapproval from his father he begins to fall hard for Mya and when Asher starts to chase Mya for more than just friendship there’s a lot of push and pull, Mya feels she won’t fit in Asher’s world and its up-to Asher to convince her otherwise.
Just like previous books there is a perfect balance of drama, angst and twists and turns. THE HARDER YOU FALL can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend starting this series from the beginning and experiencing the dynamics of these characters friendships and also the awesome stories of how the other characters also fall in love.
The Harder You Fall was completely worth the wait, I love this authors ability to hook you from the very first pages. A definite recommended angsty series for any College YA/crossover book lovers.
„If you were mine, I’d chase you to the ends of the Earth before I ever gave you up.”
Can the heart be empty and full at the same time? Because that’s how I feel right now… I feel completely empty because I can’t believe that this is the last book in the series. But on the other hand I’m full of emotions, because LA Cotton finished it with a bang! The Harder You Fall gave me all the feels. Asher and Mya’s story is extremely touching, angsty and poignant. And while I loved every single book in the Rixon Raiders series, this one is my favorite. I feel the connection with both Asher and Mya on the deeper level. I could feel their struggles, their fears and hopes. They stole my heart from the very first page and I was deeply immersed in their story.
I was in love with Asher right from the first book in the series. He was always a people person, a fun, laid-back guy and a great friend. But his own story has shown that it all is just an armor he put on so as not to burden others with his problems. Learning about his struggles cut me deep and his vulnerable side made me love him even more. However, despite the lack of influence on some aspects of his own life, Asher knows what he wants. And if he can, he’ll do anything to get it.
Mya is my favorite type of heroine. Strong, brave, feisty and confident. Even though she often has doubts, this girl knows her value and doesn’t let anybody to push her around. She knew when to leave the toxic and dangerous environment before it destroyed her.
Their history is a fight with the past and the present, an attempt to find a happy ending against all odds. They share an indesribable chemistry that doesn’t let them stay away from each other even though the whole world is against them. Watching it all played out was an amazing experience and Mya and Asher deserve a standing ovation for being so real.
Lianne Cotton has an amazing gift when it comes to creating stories about young people. Her stories are authentic and in its own way charming in its rawness. This author is also able to perfectly convey emotions, because you can feel every described situation on your own skin. I really hope that she’ll write something more in the Rixon Raiders series, maybe a novella or spin-off, because I can’t say goodbye to this world yet. I’m addicted to these football players and their other halves. And The Harder You Fall got me hooked even more. Must read!
I’ve been dying for Asher’s story from the beginning of this series but holy crap even I didn’t anticipate how much he would steal my heart. The amount of swoony AF lines from him I have highlighted is insane.
Now don’t get me wrong. My man Asher may be swoony but he’s still alpha AF too. Our girl Mya never stood a chance but I sure did enjoy watching her try to resist Asher.
I’m so beyond sad this series is now over and if you haven’t picked it up you need to. That being said, there was no better way for LA to end this series then with the roller coaster of emotions, squeeze your heart, make you reach for the wine final book.
This but isn’t just a touchdown its also the two-point conversion as well.
Oh Asher what are we going to do with you. We finally get Asher’s story and what a story it was. I definitely didn’t see any of it coming. No I take that back. I saw him and Mya falling in love. I just didn’t know what challenges they would have to face. Oh and those notes! Dang!! Who wouldn’t love notes like that. This story was heartwarming and heartbreaking all at the same time. I hated the pain Mya went through. I also hated what Asher went through, though I was also pissed at him and so glad he pulled his head out of his butt. This was a great story and a great conclusion to this group of kids. I will definitely miss them. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
Asher and Mya completely stole my heart. I have been dying for Asher’s story since the moment he was introduced, there was just something so loveable about him, but there was also something about him that was a mystery. The Harder You Fall was completely worth the wait.
Mya is new to Rixon, she is a minority in the football loving town, she always felt that she was an outcast and didn’t belong. Asher is a football star, comes from a well-off family and could everything in his life. These two are complete opposites of each other, but they are exactly what each other needs.
There is so much chemistry between Mya and Asher. They try to fight it, well mostly Mya, but when they finally give in things are EXPLOSIVE. Asher is a sweetheart and will have you swooning! Mya may seem like a tough girl on the outside but there is much more to her. She is loveable and you can see why the girls and Asher are Team Mya.
This story SHATTERED my heart. I wasn’t expecting to get so emotional over this story but it took a turn and I was a complete wreck until the very end. I couldn’t put this one down, once I started nothing else was getting down. I was completely sucked into the Mya and Asher’s world.
Whether you have read the previous books or not, The Harder You Fall is a MUST READ and my favorite of the entire series. I am sad to say goodbye to all these characters that I have grown to love.
I can’t believe this was the conclusion of the Rixon Raiders but this was such a great book to tie it all up.
As we had already met Ash there was always something going on with him and we knew that there was pressure from his home and it was so good to finally get his Story and finally work out what made him tick and how he handled Felicity and Jason. I really liked Asher he was the funny one that tried to not take anything too seriously but you knew he was covering something with his humour but i really liked Asher he was your typical football player character
Mya we met later on and we knew she had secrets and why she had moved to Rixon and that’s what had me turning the pages to know what was going on, i really liked Mya she was a strong female character and she really had to keep her head up and not take notice of people and what they thought of her.
The reason why i loved this book there was tragedy and action and also this really took on the subject of rascim and the author was so sensitive to the matter and i really enjoyed this part of the book.
Another thing i loved about this book was getting all the other characters from the previous books and they were so prominent throughout the whole story, we really got the NFL part of the story and the team comradery it was so good.
I am so sad that this series is over but i loved the way it was all completed and tied up one of my fav series and i can’t wait to read more from this author
A true gut-wrenching story. This book encompasses the obstacles, diversity, and fear that comes with love. Asher has always had my heart from the beginning. This book makes me love him even more. He is a fun, go-lucky kind of guy, but beneath that facade, there’s a storm brewing. Asher feels like he is in a prison with no key. Mya comes to his rescue in more than one way. She’s a breath of freedom for him and Asher falls and falls hard for Mya. Mya is an alpha female. She doesn’t need anyone to back her up. She can stand up for herself. But because she is a great friend, others can’t help but want to defend her and protect her. The camaraderie that this group of friends has created is a tight-knit circle. Once, you’re part of the group they will defend you until the end. Even when the inner circle is conflicting they stand behind each other. That respect is a sign of an everlasting friendship, which makes you want to be part of the Raider’s world. This was the perfect ending to an across-the-board great series!
I had the pleasure to receive a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is the 3rd book in this phenomenal series and is Mya and Asher’s’ story. Mya has not had an easy life, but she does not let her past define who she is today, and Asher comes from a privileged family who have his future planned out for him. This is a beautifully written story which is an emotional roller coaster throughout, as well as being gritty, raw, intense, intriguing, steamy, with undeniable chemistry, and with secrets and love which all lead to a powerful and riveting tale. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and highly recommend for all readers.
This series is one of my favorites, Asher and Mya’s story is one you need to read. Asher has his own secrets, Mya ran from her hometown to get herself a better future. Their chemistry is off the charts but she doesn’t want to get herself involved in a relationship, yet Asher wants her and so he doesn’t hide it. This series finale is perfect, I just want more. This is one you will find yourself re-reading in the future. I am a big Rixon Raiders fan and I suggest you read them all and join us.
Mya Hernandez came to town with one thing on her mind, to stay under the radar and take this time staying with her aunt to heal her broken heart. She has her reservations about starting a new school knowing she may no be welcomed with open arms, but fortunately she quickly makes a couple of new friends. And also catches the eye of one of the Raiders star football players…
She is not ready to start a new relationship or date anyone, but Asher Bennet just keeps coming around and her heart seems to think she should give him a shot… no matter how much her head disagrees!
The Harder You Fall is a heart wrecker… it’s words will give your heartstrings a good tug, bring you to tears, and steal the breath from your lungs. These two wounded souls carry a lot of emotional baggage and have had a rough go at life, so this is a bit of a heavy story line. So, it was quite uplifting to watch them find a bit of happiness in one another, the connection they have is instant and it brings them a sense of peace they have never known. I absolutely adored these two, their story really stirred up the feels, but it left my heart so happy in the end. If you like stories heavy on angst and emotion then I have no doubt that you will love this one, it pages are brimming with the good stuff to give your heart a nice little squeeze! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased opinion.
We have gotten to know Asher in the 2 previous Rixon books but we don’t really know him. We know what he wants others to see. In this book we get a much more in depth look at Asher’s thoughts, feelings and secrets. He falls for Mya. A girl from a poor family from the wrong side of the tracks and a transfer from another high school. She is a 4%. One of only a handful of non white students at their high school. And even though she may like Asher she feels she doesn’t fit into his world. This story is about these 2 each overcoming their fears and taking a chance on each other.
Asher & Mia will lead you back to your senior year with the angsty of relationships, picking a college, but most all making memories. I was sad to see the series be finished. It was a fun & interesting ride getting to know the Rixon Raiders.
Oh. My. Heart! Slayed!! L.A Cofton completely slayed me with Asher and Mya’s book. It was bittersweet reading The Harder You Fall knowing that this is the final book in the Rixon Raiders series. It was fun, sexy, sweet with some angst. You see all the characters from Cam and Hailey to Jase and Felicity. I am sad to see it end but know for sure it’s a series that I will continue to do rereads. It’s just that good and the characters have a way with sticking with you. If you are into young adult, sports romance then I can’t recommend this book enough! You will be hooked and captivated by all the drama of those Rixon Raiders! Mya and Asher’s book is the cherry on the sundae as the author delivered an epic read to close out an epic series!
