NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • BONUS: This edition contains an excerpt from Lee Child’s Bad Luck and Trouble. In Lee Child’s astonishing new thriller, ex–military cop Reacher sees more than most people would…and because of that, he’s thrust into an explosive situation that’s about to blow up in his face. For the only way to find the truth—and save two innocent lives—is to do it the way Jack … lives—is to do it the way Jack Reacher does it best: the hard way….
Jack Reacher was alone, the way he liked it, soaking up the hot, electric New York City night, watching a man cross the street to a parked Mercedes and drive it away. The car contained one million dollars in ransom money. And Edward Lane, the man who paid it, will pay even more to get his family back. Lane runs a highly illegal soldiers-for-hire operation. He will use any amount of money and any tool to find his beautiful wife and child. And then he’ll turn Jack Reacher loose with a vengeance—because Reacher is the best man hunter in the world.
On the trail of a vicious kidnapper, Reacher is learning the chilling secrets of his employer’s past…and of a horrific drama in the heart of a nasty little war. He’s beginning to realize that Edward Lane is hiding something. Something dirty. Something big. But Reacher also knows this: he’s already in way too deep to stop now.

Not the best Jack Reacher, but is there a bad one?
Always a great read. Addicting characters and stories.
Another Jack Reacher mind candy. Nothing wrong with a sweet now and then.
One of the best written, realistic in its own spy crazy world which also become real. A enjoyable umpredticable read. One of the best and timely in our terror crazed world we live in but is where Reacher is always at his best at beating the bad guys but you are never sure of the outcome.
Love anything Lee Childs writes.
This is the first Lee Child book I have read. Jack Reacher is a mysterious character. The Hard Way is an unpredictable, action-packed thriller that takes the reader up and down the east coast and across the big pond. I loved loved the book and can’t wait to read more Jack Reacher adventures.
Loved it…as all Jack Reacher books.
typical Reacher, will keep you reading to see the end!
I like all the Jack Reacher books. Lee Child is an excellent writer.
Jack Reacher never disappoints. Fast paced and well written!
Love all Reacher Book
All of the Jack Reacher books are great.
Jack Reacher is a great character, best up the bad guys and save the girl. Total guys guy type book.
As often happens to Jack Reacher, he’s confronted with a “what’s going on here?” situation that constantly confounds our best guesses. When everything becomes clear (be prepared for perspective shifts), he must determine how he can resolve it all ethically. I personally enjoy this sort of conundrum, especially given that Reacher is a capable investigator—after all, it was his profession in the army, and he learned it well—and troubleshooter. Moreover, I’m continually impressed that the very British Mr. Child has created, and maintains, such an intriguing and thoroughly American protagonist.
THE HARD WAY is a particularly good outing for the erstwhile major, with a predicament that gets more thorny, not less, with every day that passes. I recommend it.
Quintessential Reacher.
Lee Childs’ Jack Reacher character is incredible. He has an old world chivalrous personality
Love Lee Child’s character Jack Reacher. Great writing – great action – great stories.
Reacher, always a good read!
It is what you would expect of a Jack Reacher novel. If you like the character and the flow of the writing you have come to expect, this book will not disappoint.
Outstanding. I can see why Lee Child releases so few, yet such well written, novels compared to, say, Stuart Woods. Each of Lee’s stories is a work of art, finely crafted, and a thing of beauty. I hope he continues in this approach.
